I really like the extra photographs that accompany many articles. The font is easy to read, for the most part. Organization is idiosyncratic sometimes. Articles I’d expect to see in opinion, say, simply don’t appear, like the nationally sourced columnists. While the app version is easy enough to navigate, it lacks a comment feature. Readers must use the web browser version to do that. Remembering being told after the hack that things would get better, but I don’t see it. Sections are all over the place, repeated stories. Mostly disappointed in sports. Might as well do away with it since I have to go elsewhere to find out what happened last night. ### 2/5 — The e-edition is disappointingly hard to read *2025-07-15, version 9.17.4* The app crashed when redirecting me to write a review, so I sought to leave this feedback… I am thankful to read reporting from our region and I loved that they offered a version that is typeset just like a physical newspaper. In fact it was a major selling point for me. This changed, however, e-edition app was rebranded a year or two ago. Now the app will return to the full screen after I zoom to make the text a comfortable size. This leads to a constant and infuriating battle with the app as I try to get the day’s news. Clicking on the article is a slight improvement, however the 3 text options also make it difficult to get the text to a comfortable size, constant insertion of ads make me love my place or result in an accidental touch. The software used to reformat the article struggles to place pull quotes, emphasize sub headed sections, and does not embed the photos where they should be. If any devs are reading this- please fix the e-edition zoom issue! It is all that I really want from this app (to have an electronic newspaper!). This problem with that feature has been enough for me to consider cancelling my subscription. ### 3/5 — Baseball Standings *2025-04-06, version 9.16.2* Noticed recently that the e edition does not list the current days slated games and starting pitchers - rather it lists the prior days games, which is useless as those games have already been played. I understand that the night games can no longer have the scores listed due to the print deadline but surely the next day’s games are known well in advance as are the vast majority of the starting pitchers prior to print deadline. Thanks for your consideration. ### 3/5 — No longer local *2025-03-23, version 9.15.1* To many out of state articles Sports coverage nor current Comics section is terrible, only 3 or 4 worth reading ### 3/5 — Frustration *2025-03-23, version 9.15.1* As a whole, I enjoy reading the news through the Post Dispatch app. I am frustrated because when I get emails with story briefs or headlines and I click on them to read, I get a pop-up that says I need a subscription to continue to read, but I have a subscription. And you’re sending the email to me. That’s frustrating.And then there are several podcasts that are going through the Post Dispatch. I know you’ve recently said to be able to listen to them you must have a subscription and I do have a subscription, but I can’t listen to them or I just get the mini two minute version to be edited. The fact that it’s not seamless is very frustrating. I don’t expect it to be free, but if I’m paying the going rate that you’re asking of me, I shouldn’t have difficulty accessing content. It makes me question. Should I continue being a subscriber. This anti-Republican focus would be more tolerable if SLPD featured columnists who provide competing arguments and perspectives. It just doesn’t work very well. I pay $25.99 per month for the Post Dispatch. What I get is a dose of the Post Dispatch’s addiction to pop up ads. The expectations for this year’s Cardinals team is poor, mostly because of a decline in revenue - there is little reason to continue for the Cardinals’ coverage. The Post Dispatch app is by far the worst newspaper app I visit and quite possibly the worst overall app on the planet that charges subscription fees. The app Constantly requires a re login, articles don’t load or have missing links, tons of articles from newspaper are not on the app and stories are often days old. Literally junk. I don’t understand how this business doesn’t scrap this app and start over. Obviously they are losing money and don’t feel it’s worth the cost or effort, just as they don’t seem willing to pay for actual journalists? Good luck with that strategy as you continue to turn off customers and swirl around the drain.
