Or, the bore of choosing music from my tired collection or uninspiring online library. Stack has changed all that. I never need listen to anything else. It’s superbly curated playlists of quality songs that I know and love or new ones to delight in keep me happy from morning to night. I absolutely love this app. It’s ingenious. ### 5/5 — Not opening after latest update *2019-02-10, version 1.6.11* Great app but it’s not opening after the latest update on my iPad mini 2. Strange as it’s working on my iPhone 6s! After logging in, 99% of the time it drops back to the login/new subscription page. The app hasn’t been updated for a couple of years and the app help link goes to an Insta page that also hasn’t been updated for a couple of years. Perhaps the developer has lost interest, although is happy to keep taking our subscriptions. No thanks. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work *2022-06-05, version 1.6.40* Doesn’t recognise that I’ve paid. Good idea, awful execution. ### 1/5 — Can't use on iPhone SE *2021-04-04, version 1.6.29* The login form cannot be used on an iPhone SE - after fillong the form, the Enter button is obscured by the keyboard and cannot be tapped. Would have contacted support, but that's only on Instagram. Disappointed. ### 1/5 — I’m out... *2021-03-06, version 1.6.29* ...as I’m not allowed in. Read about this in The Daily Telegraph’s Luxury supplement. Thought I’d give it a try but failed to sign in as I was unable to get past the first password entry field. It would appear the developers have not tested the sign on screen on phones with limited display real estate such as my 2020 iPhone SE (2nd edition). Bye. ### 2/5 — Good idea poorly administered *2021-05-05, version 1.6.29* This is a good idea, although the classic selection is really disappointing unless you like the cheesier elements of Classic FM. A pity then that the app doesn’t recognise that I have paid my subscription and asks me to pay again. I won’t be renewing as a result. ### 3/5 — Great music, app needs work *2021-12-17, version 1.6.40* A great concept. Like other reviewers I find the main music services overwhelming when I just want to listen to some great music without having to curate it for myself or suffer an AI picked playlist. Great. The app itself is quirky, and not entirely in a good way. It’s hard to get back to the now playing screen if you go anywhere else in the app. It seems impossible to stop/pause within the app (am I missing something?!) so have to use the iPhone control centre (mute is a strange option to have instead.) When using iPods the music blasts out of the phone when removing the headphones instead of stopping. Hardly a desired behaviour. I’ve not tried in the car yet. I’d like to subscribe… I’ll have to see whether these annoyances are worth putting up with. At least there is a free trial. ### 3/5 — Am I doing something wrong? *2021-04-04, version 1.6.29* I love the principle of Stack, and maybe it’s my phone (DOI dinosaur with iPhone 5plus running iOS 13), but it randomly seems to stop playing sometimes, and when it’s sulking like this, nothing I can do will coax it back. This is pretty irritating and a deal breaker 😞 Also, I can see no easy way to pause it - I have to switch screen off so that the control bar is there when I switch it back on. If you can tell me what I’m doing wrong, I’ll pay beyond my free trial! ### 3/5 — Great idea. Poor implementation *2019-09-27, version 1.6.18* The idea of Stack radio is excellent. Curated music streamed to my ears. Love the idea. Unfortunately the app is prone to random crashes. Unfortunately the app can take many seconds to commence streaming music. Unfortunately the app does not resume streaming when you put your AirPods back in your ears after even just a few seconds. Unfortunately the app does not cope with changing internet connection strengths that I get while on the train. I have found new music through the app, which is great. It’s a shame that some of the playlists are so random it’s difficult to see any connection between tracks. Like a dj went into my library and shuffled my songs around according to genre and then added some new ones that I absolutely love! Really well thought out. My entire working day is based on decision making and this app has changed my life. At the end of the day all I want to do is enjoy the weather with a drink and listen to some music. However that for some reason seemed an impossible task so I would switch on 6 music and hope it was the mood I was feeling. Now since getting stack its like a world has opened up! Good tunes and exactly the tempo I’m after at that exact moment! So easy to use no faffing around, simple clean perfect!
