## What is Stackmate?

Stackmate is where founders find the co-founder who completes the stack.

Choosing a co-founder is one of the highest-stakes decisions you'll ever make — yet most people start that search with vague profiles, cold outreach, and gut feeling. Stackmate was built for this specific problem: structured profiles, real signal, and accountability before you ever get on a call.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Build a structured profile
Pick your role — Founder or Candidate. Describe your project, skills, commitment level, and exactly what you're looking for. Verify your identity and optionally connect GitHub and LinkedIn to surface real, hard-to-fake signal.

2. Discover scored matches
Every match comes with a compatibility score across four dimensions — skill fit, commitment level, timezone overlap, and startup stage. Browse clean, detailed profile cards with everything you need up front. No endless scrolling, no guesswork.

3. Send intent, not noise
Reaching out requires a short, structured intent message — so every connection request is intentional and gets a real reply. No cold spam.

4. Meet, review, and decide
Schedule intro calls without leaving the app. After each meeting, both sides submit a blind, structured review — revealed only once both are in. Honest feedback, no manufactured impressions.

WHY STACKMATE

• Compatibility scoring — a weighted match score with the full breakdown visible, not just a headline number.
• Verified profiles — identity verification plus GitHub and LinkedIn signal that's hard to game.
• Blind mutual reviews — structured post-meeting feedback that stays hidden until both sides submit.
• Built-in scheduling — from match to confirmed call in a couple of taps.
• Privacy-first — your face verification runs on-device; we only keep the result.

WHO IT'S FOR

• Founders with a project looking for a technical or business co-founder.
• Talented builders looking for the right project and team to join.

Stackmate is free to join, with optional Plus and Pro plans for more daily swipes, open requests, and undo.

Find your co-founder — built on verified profiles, structured discovery, and mutual accountability.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.0.13 — 2026-08-08

AI assistants — new, and off unless you turn it on.

You can now let an AI assistant help with your co-founder search. With the
setting on, an assistant you connect can look through your deck, tell you who
fits and why, and draft the intro message from the project you have been
describing to it. You approve every request before it is sent.

• New "AI assistants" screen under Profile — turn matching on or off, see every
assistant you have connected, when each was last used, and disconnect any one
of them or all of them at once.
• Turning the setting off immediately disconnects every assistant.
• Clearer wording in Terms and Privacy about exactly what an assistant can read
  while the setting is on.

An assistant cannot read or send chat messages, cannot accept or reject
connection requests, and cannot go past your daily limits.

### 1.0.12 — 2026-07-23

Added preferred languages to your profile — pick the languages you work in, and see them on other profiles for a better match.
Fixed an issue where the Pass button in Discover could occasionally leave a rejected profile reappearing in your deck.
Fixed your own photo not showing on the "It's a Match!" screen.
You can now edit your display name from Edit Profile, even if it wasn't provided by Apple sign-in.
General bug fixes and performance improvements.
