## What is Stacks?

We all take a few extra photos to get the right one. Stacks finds the best, puts it on top and helps you clear the rest.

Stacks scores the photos in a moment to find open eyes, smiles, a sharp subject and the clearest copy of a document. Everything runs on your iPhone. Raises the score: smiles, faces turned toward you, a cat or dog looking at the camera, readable text on a document.

Pick. Swipe. Stack.
• Stacks finds the photos that look alike and keeps them together.
• Swipe to keep the good ones and delete the rest.
• The best photo leads every stack.
• Stack several moments at once, or keep just the best photo from each.
• See exactly what stays and what goes before anything is deleted.
• See how much space you got back.

You decide what’s deleted
• Your photos are copied into one stack. Each copy keeps its date, place, favorite, caption and albums.
• Cover photo goes on top.
• Unstack anytime. The photos become separate again.
• iOS asks before deleting. iOS removes only the separate photos, which are already in the stack. Deleted photos stay in Recently Deleted for 30 days.

Clean up after yourself
Clean Up puts screenshots, blurry photos and duplicates in piles you can clear in a few taps.
• Screenshots sort themselves into Messages, Email, Social and Web.
• Documents, saved images and photos of screens get their own piles too.
• See the blurriest first.
• Clear a whole pile at once.
• Photos you swipe away wait in To Delete until you delete them.

Completely private
• Stacks never connects to the internet.
• No account. No ads. No tracking.
• Photos are analyzed on your iPhone with Apple’s built-in tools.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.2 — 2026-10-23

Now with Clean Up for screenshots, blurry photos and duplicates. No ads, no subscriptions, no in-app purchases.

### 1.1.1 — 2026-10-20

• Set a moment aside while you swipe through it. Tap More (…), then Don’t Stack.
• Sort your stacks on the Stacked tab, and open Settings from there too.
• Share Stats now links to Stacks on the App Store.

### 1.1 — 2026-10-17

Stacks 1.1 finds more than twice as many moments to clean up and picks the best photo more often.

• In our testing on a library of 15,000 photos, Stacks found 1,307 moments, up from 596.
• Photos on your iPhone and photos stored in iCloud now come together in the same moment.
• Keep Best Photo Only makes better choices. In our testing, it picked a clearly worse photo about a third as often for photos stored in iCloud.
• Press and hold a moment to stack it, keep only its best photo or delete it, right from your list.
• Tap a photo to come back to it at the end of the moment.
• Sort your moments oldest first.
• Photos from other cameras can now be stacked.
• Stacks counts more of the people in group photos, including those further back.
• In our testing, Stacks now takes up about 40% less space on your iPhone.
• Fixed: “Analyzing photos” could stop moving after Stacks worked in the background.

After you update, Stacks takes a few minutes to look over your photos again.

As always, everything happens right on your iPhone.
