The power of the calculation result or calculation depends on the number, if it is too small such as 0.0908, then in standard notation, we will move the decimal point to the right direction and its  standard notation will be 9.080 x 10-2. 
Converting a small value into standard notation involves moving the decimal point to the right, the power of ten will be negative. On the other hand,  dealing with very large numbers, the power of ten will be positive.
