We waited 90 minutes for Rise at Hollywood Studios, then got a special lightning lane and this app immediately used it for Little Mermaid (not a good use of this), and then we went to Runaway Railway and the same thing happened, and Skipper used it on Frozen that we were able to just walk into anyways. Seems there must be some special metadata somewhere to call out these special available lightning lanes that this app is ignoring maybe? ### 5/5 — From Dud to Dad of the Year *2026-02-26, version 5.1.0* Picture this. its 11am at Epcot. You've tried reserving Frozen, feverishly for the past hour and your thumb looking up at you wondering when the pain will stop. With no luck except for pop up availabilities that seemingly disappear after clicking on them. Enter "Standby Skipper". Free app with paid in app services that gives you 7 days of this service and equates to less than the cost of a single pass for a family of four. You make "Standby Skipper" a Family & Friend but doesnt require you to specify which. You see that you have dinner at 515pm at Vi Napoli. So you tell the app to seek and destroy a reservation for Frozen on your behalf between 6pm and close. Be sure to leave an open Lighting Lane "unbooked". As you venture onward through the day, you wonder "Did I just get got?". Then suddenly your pocket buzzes while you ruff The Three Cabelleros and tells you that your new Friend or Family member has booked you for 610 at Frozen. Your family greets you with a hero's song and showers you with love. Dad of the year locked up. Thank you Standby Skipper. See you at Thanksgiving. ### 5/5 — Phenomenal Time Saver *2025-12-27, version 5.1.0* Disney has continuously made it more difficult to enjoy a hassle free day in the parks, at least for the person in charge of planning. Standby Skipper was a life saver for me! Our party of 8 was so happy with the lightning lanes Standby Skipper secured for us. We are not rope droppers, we prefer a later start and the app was absolutely indispensable. ### 5/5 — Game Changer *2025-12-24, version 5.1.0* We have used this app now for our last 3 trips to Disney and now I would not go without it. With Standby Skipper you can input what you want to ride throughout the day and drastically reduce time spent on your phone! It was able to book sold out and hard to get rides every single day of our trip, all without me having to refresh the Disney app and constantly check my phone. Simple and straight forward *2025-12-04, version 5.1.0* Disney is complicated. And has forced people to stare at their phones all day searching for rides, dining, etc. This app fixes the ride portion. Skipper searches for the open lighting lanes for you while you enjoy your park time. YOU enter your searches of what rides you want and when, skipper books them when they become available. Yes there are some things it might not get for you (large groups, specific times of days…) but if you are open to going when it’s available, it is a game changer! I have used it for my family of 5, multiple times with great success. I just used it for only 3 of us and got everything we ever looked for. (Frozen, Remi…) Book your initial 3 LL’s via the Disney app. Then put your searches in for all other rides you want for the day. (Put anytime, not just evening… once you get one, you can modify it for a later time.) I love getting random phone alerts, “standby skipper has booked…” and I don’t even have to think about it. ### 5/5 — MUST HAVE for your Disney vacation! *2025-11-16, version 5.1.0* We only do Disney with Standby Skipper. It saves us time and ALWAYS finds sold out lightning lanes for the biggest attractions. Moms, do yourselves a favor and spend the money on the full week subscription. You will not regret it. ### 5/5 — I just want to say how much I loved Standby Skipper on our last trip! *2025-11-16, version 5.1.0* We went during the busy Columbus Day week! We had a party of 7 which included a 5yo, 2 16yo and a 20yo so as you can imagine everyone’s “must do’s” were a wide range! I was STRESSING being able to accomplish everyone’s must dos! Standby Skipper got everything we wanted, multiple times throughout our trip! Including Test Track x2, Remy’s x2, Peter Pan, Jungle Cruise and a few other heavy hitters. I was able to relax and enjoy my family without the constant fiddle faddle! My husband said it was 5 out of 5 Peters 😜 (iykyk). Standby Skipper was an integral part of the success of our trip. We had to move a park day during our trip because of illness. That means I had to give up the LLs I had scheduled and start over on a new day. Even though it said Slinky Dog Dash was sold out… SS snagged it for us while we were in the park. Same for Frozen Ever After and it was a busy Friday night in Epcot bc of Food and Wine. Worth every penny! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Didn’t work *2026-05-06, version 5.1.0* Tried using Standby Skipper for our Disney trip after hearing all the hype and honestly ended up pretty disappointed. The app felt clunky and confusing at times, especially when trying to manage multiple people and modify plans throughout the day. Recommendations didn’t always make sense based on where we were in the park, and some of the timing suggestions actually had us walking back and forth more than necessary. The biggest issue was reliability. A couple of times the app seemed delayed compared to what was actually available in the Disney app, which is kind of the whole point of using a planner like this in the first place. For the price, I expected something smoother and more polished. It’s not terrible, but it definitely didn’t feel like the “stress free Disney experience” people talk about. ### 1/5 — Great way to burn $25 *2026-04-02, version 5.1.0* Found the app non-intuitive and very little instructions on how it operates. In any event, it failed to secure me a single fast pass all day. Just don’t know how this works, and I’m a pretty young tech savvy guy. Abandoned it and just used the Disney app, which was easy to use. Waste of money, sorry. ### 1/5 — Not for me, maybe not for you. *2025-03-12, version 5.1.0* First trip to Magic Kingdom and didn’t find any situation where Standby Skipper would be more helpful than booking myself for our group of 8. Used it one time and it booked later than I could have done myself, then I stopped using it. I contacted and asked for a refund and they refused. Granted, under the terms I was not eligible, so I accept that. However, buyer beware and make sure you’re confident it’s really needed before buying. ### 1/5 — Second try. It might be helpful if you’ve never been to the parks and have no clue, but since it can’t be used until the day you’re in the park what’s the sense? I’ve already chosen my rides 3 or 7 days prior. It is also not very intuitive. You can’t rank or set preferred times for rides so it just grabs any lightning lane spot when it’s available and fills your allotment. At 7am it keeps filling Jungle Cruise for 6pm lightning lane. UPDATE: after leaving this review they locked me out of my account. Buyer beware. There’s a reason there are hundreds of 1-star reviews. ### 1/5 — Can’t get invite. *2024-05-21, version 4.3.0* I don’t get an invite from within the Disney world app from standby skipper. They might have changed how invites work to QR codes and scanning. If you are on the fence about purchasing it dont be. It is worth every penny and got us everything we wanted and more. My kids at some point told me to stop setting searches because it would get us everything and so fast lol. I loved it! With the new lightning lane system, it was really hard to get good lightning lanes the days we were in the parks. Instead would spend 30 minutes refreshing the app hoping for lightning lanes to become available. I never had success. Two days into our trip, I decided to try using this app again. I would choose what lightning lanes I wanted and would sit back and hang with my family and wait to see if the app would get me some lightning lanes. And it worked so well!! Relieved so much stress! Super highly recommend this app for people still learning the lightning lane system at Disney world. ### 5/5 — Quickly became a favorite for our trip *2026-05-17, version 5.1.0* This service is amazing! We were Disney newbies so I wasn’t well versed in lightning lanes, this made it easy and efficient to use all the available lightning lanes and automatically booked for you! Would definitely use again, the price is great for a larger group and allows you to really be present vs refreshing the app constantly looking for another ride. Tip from someone’s first time: if you don’t like the time it matches you with just delete it and set another alert, chances are a better slot will open up ### 5/5 — Day changing *2026-05-02, version 5.1.0* Used Standby Skipper in June 2025 and the experience was excellent. When Rock-in Rollercoaster went down Standby Skipper grabbed a Slinky Dog for us before we even got the alert from Disney that they had cancelled our RR lighting lane. Over the week they booked all the Lightning Lanes We asked for when we asked for them. It was so nice to just enjoy my family and not worry about the phone. And it is so much fun to be surprised by their notifications. I never had to charge my phone during a park day.
