## What is Stapje?

New to the Netherlands? Stapje is the expat app that helps with everything in your first year.
Registration, BSN, DigiD, health insurance, GP, bank, school, taxes and Dutch letters: one clear plan.
Snap a Dutch letter and see what it means, what to do and by when. No account needed.

WHAT STAPJE DOES
• Your personal setup plan: gemeente registration → BSN → DigiD → health insurance → huisarts → bank → school, in the right order for your situation
• Dutch letter explained: photograph a letter from the gemeente, Belastingdienst or your insurer and see who sent it, what it means, what to do and the deadline
• Deadlines and reminders: dates from your plan and your letters stay visible, with optional notifications. Deadlines are never locked behind a paywall
• Ask Netherlands: ask a practical question in your own words and get a clear answer with sources
• Money and taxes: salary and budget tools based on 2026 tax bands, plus help with toeslagen and tax letters. Stapje does not file your tax return
• School and childcare: timing and next steps when children move with you
• Social life: events, activities and city guides so the Netherlands starts to feel like home

BUILT FOR NEWCOMERS
Expats, international students, knowledge migrants and families, including people from India, Turkey, Latin America and Southern Europe. App languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and Turkish.

HONEST BY DESIGN
Stapje is a guide, not a lawyer, a bank or an IND portal. Official rules stay with government.nl, IND, Belastingdienst and your gemeente; Stapje links to them.
