I clicked “Continue,” and a new page opened asking me to enter my card information. I chose Apple Pay, assuming this was necessary for the cashback to be credited to my account. I was then asked to confirm a transaction showing an amount of $0. I did so, and only after that did I reach a page where I realized that “Free Shipping” was actually a separate service provided by a separate company — a service that I absolutely do not need. When I checked my banking app, I discovered that I had not received any cashback at all. Instead, $25 had been charged to my bank account. In other words, Staples and its partner “Free Shipping” used a misleading process to charge me $25 after I made a purchase through the Staples app. “Great bonus. Thank you very much. I really enjoyed it!” ### 1/5 — Thieves? *2026-08-21, version 14.9.0* A year ago, I was able to drop off a 40 volt dead battery and get a $2 reward. Now, I was told that there is NO reward and I have to pay $2.99 to drop off a dead lithium battery. Thankfully, Home Depot was nearby and took it freely.
