Please update! ### 1/5 — Not suitable for iOS-should be removed from store *2022-01-30, version 2.2.0* This app claims to be for both iOS and android. It works OK on android. It does not work on iOS. It is intended to control the sky watcher star adventurer over its own internal Wi-Fi network. With iOS your phone can connect to the ad hoc network broadcast by the sky watcher. But in iOS the app itself cannot connect to the sky watcher mount, so nothing can be controlled. Tested on two android devices and four iOS devices running iOS version 15. The app now does not connect to the star adventurer 2i pro. The help section appears to be related to the SAM, with no option to contact the developer. The developers revision notes state minor changes with no break down of what had actually changed. All this leaves a useless app with no obvious solutions? ### 1/5 — Doesn’t seem to be working any more *2022-01-17, version 2.1.1* No matter what I try, I can’t seem to get the app to connect to the star adventurer 2i. The phone connects to its wifi network, but the app for whatever reason insists it can’t see anything to connect to. Wrong. I 100% can’t recommend this app, or even the purchase of a Sky Watcher mount until this is fixed. We as the consumers shouldn’t have to settle for an app that doesn’t work, or have to jump through hoops to get a connection to something that should be seamless from the get go. Do better guys. This is terrible. And Apple should pull this from the store until you guys can at the least make consumer compliance with an app that actually works. ### 1/5 — No conecta con Star Adventurer GTI *2024-02-25* No conecta con Star Adventurer GTI. But it won’t connect to my tracker so it loses all functionality for me. I see on other reviews that it worked until the last update a year ago. PS Align is a much better app for that help ### 1/5 — Polar clock utility issue *2022-02-24, version 2.3.0* Polar clock utility won’t work, it can’t get GPS information from my iPhone to work, I have to use a third party app PS Align Pro to align my tracker. It did work initially for a short time, I’ve tried the other functions for time lapse and don’t know if they still work. ### 1/5 — Broken app *2022-02-06, version 2.2.0* The app worked fine with previous devices but now the latest update has stopped discovering devices. It connects to the unit as a wifi device but when you try to add the star adventurer it shows no device found. So without a working app I have a useless piece of astronomy equipment. ### 1/5 — App no longer working - very frustrating *2022-02-06, version 2.2.0* This app worked with my iPhone when I used it three weeks ago. Today it won’t connect to my phone. So I tried connecting to my iPad and it seemed to work. But when I tried to run Astrophotography, I got a “Communication error” - very frustrating after hours setting up on a really cold night. ### 1/5 — App is broken *2022-02-05, version 2.2.0* Last rev does not ask for access to location services or local network and as such can’t find the phone location or access the adventurer using Wi-Fi. Does what it says with no connection issues. ### 5/5 — Good *2022-01-18, version 2.2.0* The app now does a good job of controlling the Star Adventurer 2i tracking mount. The previous update didn’t work at all but the developers listened to feedback and quickly rectified the issue. ### 4/5 — App works again *2022-02-12, version 2.3.0* UPDATE 12 February: connectivity issue is fixed, I can now control the mount using iPhone 12. Leaving earlier comment below but updating rating given it is now usable. Today was my first attempt to use the SkyWatcher mount I received as a gift, pretty frustrating that I wasted so much time battling with this app on my iPhone. As others report, connecting via WiFi seems to work ok (mount LED turns solid green) but this app can’t see the device. I thought I would try my iPad Pro (WiFi only, no cellular) and it works fine. I also was able to connect a Windows laptop. I see no reason why this shouldn’t work on iPhone. I’m not filled with confidence in the app / support / mount given there is no route to actually report this issue to the developer / manufacturer of the mount so my only option seems to be to leave a 1 star review and hope it gets attention. ### 4/5 — Good but has some bugs *2021-08-18, version 1.6.0* Just got my 2i and connecting to the unit was a breeze. I switched to App mode to enable the WiFi and connected my phone to it. In the app I had to Tap on the bottom “not connected” for it to search for and find the tracker. After that it automatically connected. Controls are straight-forward in the app. Nice that it shows the input voltage as well. Might be a little better to add a “connect” button or an initialization setup on first run instead of having to infer you need to click “Not Connected” to initiate the scan for devices. There is also a random “Done” banner that shows up if you are already connected and click on the connection. It shows up where the “turn off wifi” selection is located on the screen. ### 4/5 — Not bad *2020-04-30, version 1.5.0* A no track option would be really helpful to take clear foreground shots. It does disconnect often for unknown reasons, but it’s fairly easy to reconnect. Not possible to read the hour... ### 3/5 — New update prevents iOS app from connecting to Star Adventurer 2i *2022-02-05, version 2.2.0* The iOS version of this App worked really well using my iPhone to control the Star Adventurer 2i until the latest iOS version of the app was released a couple of weeks ago - however unfortunately since then the current iOS app cannot connect to the Star Adventurer 2i even though the iPhones WiFi is connected to the Star Adventurer 2i wifi. I do not see a way to go back to the older version of the app and I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the App but no change. It might be possible that the updated firmware for the 2i would allow the iOS app to work under the latest version but the website with the firmware update only uses windows computers and I only have access to Mac computers. I am hoping support reads these reviews and addresses the issue for iOS users. I noticed a couple of other reviews mentioned the same issue after the latest app upgrade. I have attempted to contact support directly but no response yet. ### 3/5 — Polar clock useful but wifi control does not work *2021-11-24, version 1.6.0* I bought the Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer 2i a little over a year ago and had never used the app for anything but the polar clock. But I tried to use the wifi app control yesterday and found that it never detects my Star Adventurer, even though the iPhone can see and connect to its wifi network. Update: wifi control does work but you have to allow access to Local Network under Settings > SA Console.
