The Star Mobile Time and Expense app enables professional users of the Star Practice Management system to record, review and submit time spent and expenses incurred on client and non-chargeable jobs, using their iPhone or iPad. Users can quickly select clients and jobs from their History of previous time and expense entries or can optionally carry out remote searches on the firm’s Star Practice Management database to find clients and jobs. The Star Mobile Time and Expense app leverages the rich functionality provided by your firm’s Star Practice Management system. Contact your firm’s Star support team for the final step to very easily configure Star Mobile to work with your Star Practice Management business data. This has been corrected. ### 2018.2.11 — 2019-01-08 A number of new security improvements have been added to Star Mobile: - A new Star Mobile web service is available which supports increased levels of encryption - Scanned expense receipt files are now encrypted on the local device - Star Mobile will no longer run on jailbroken or rooted devices. A number of problems reported by star clients have been resolved in this release of Star Mobile. These include the following: - TSC Staff with the privilege to self-approve were able to delete a submitted timesheet line and then approve the timesheet with fewer than the minimum required hours. This has been corrected. - It was possible to overtype the rate on unit-based expenses. This has been corrected. - Receipt file uploads did not always honour the list of supported file types/filename extensions, and failed to exclude files with no filename extension. This has been corrected. Unsupported file types (e.g. those with extensions .bat or .exe) and files with no filename extension can no longer be uploaded. - If Google Maps is used for mileage calculation when entering unit-based expenses, an optional Map Override field in Setup (in Star PDM) can be used to specify a percentage by which users can adjust calculated mileage. This previously restricted both percentage increases and percentage decreases; it now restricts only increases. - Where time was entered in units, some totals on the Totals screen would be calculated incorrectly. This has been corrected. - After working off-line but before signing in to the application, the timesheet period would intermittently default to 01 JAN 0001. This has been corrected. - Users can no longer search for clients on the server when working offline. If they attempt to do so the application displays the following warning: "Server searches are not allowed when you are working off-line". Star has carried out backward-compatibility tests against the following versions of Star Practice Management to ensure continuity of mobile operation: - Autumn/Fall 2018 - Spring 2018 - Autumn/Fall 2017 - Spring 2017 - Autumn/Fall 2016 Full details of the release are in the Star Mobile release notes, available from your firm's Star Practice Management system administration team. In addition, an updated User Guide is available. ### 2018.1.0.4 — 2018-05-18 This new version of the Star Mobile Time & Expenses app provides support for the following additional functionality within your firm's Star Practice Management system: •Integration with Google Maps to assist in calculation of mileage-based expense claims •Support for per-diem expense types •Additional expense dimensions to assist with GL routing and analysis •Up to 5-level expense navigation/analysis facilities to improve selection of correct expense types •Facilities to allow two additional methods of analysis of expense transactions In addition, a number of bug fixes are included. The above new functionality is activated in Star Mobile ONLY if a firm is running version 2018.1 - Spring 2018 release - of Star Practice Management. Until the Spring 2018 release of Star Practice Management is implemented by Star customers, existing Star Mobile users who download the new Star Mobile app from the store will not be affected by changes in functionality and will not be able to use the new features. Full access to the new features will be enabled as soon as the Star customer implements those features in the Spring 2018 release of Star Practice Management.
