### 2/5 — Pass on this one

*2019-05-25, version 2.0.1*

The game is a basic space exploration game, the high price is unjustified. The exploration process has little depth and becomes boring quite quickly. There’s not much music or sound effects either, they’re very basic and old school sounding.

### 2/5 — I want to enjoy this game, but it needs iPhone X support.

*2019-01-12, version 1.05*

Dear developer: would you be willing to add iPhone X support? I loved your game when I played it on PC but it needs to have a larger interface.

### 3/5 — Great open world...UI not so much

*2017-06-11, version 1.05*

Really enjoyed the open world aspect, especially choosing job paths(with legitimate social consequences), multiple factions, surprisingly deep trade system, and ship upgrading.
However, the UI seems more at home on a computer or, at the very least, something bigger than an IPhone (7plus in my case). Combat becomes a chore, especially when there are swarms of enemy and ally ships swirling around.
Navigating menus could be equally arduous at times.
Granted, I happen to be a mechanic, so my fingers may not be the ideal size for phone based gaming, though it hasn't been too much of a hindrance before. The controls and UI presented a source of frustration that slowly pushed me away from the game.

### 2/5 — Fun, but critical bug

*2016-10-29, version 1.04*

This is at least a four-star game, but as reported by other reviewers, I'm experiencing the "server already up" bug which prevents me from playing for longer than a few minutes. I would suggest holding off purchasing it until the bug is repaired.
Other than that, the game is tons of fun! Just make sure you either have a large screen or slender fingers, since the UI elements are tiny (I'm on a 5.5" screen).

**Developer response:** Hi there, sorry about the bug (iOS update incompatibilities), it was fixed a long time ago, perhaps give it a 2nd chance. :)

### 1/5 — Awesome game

*2016-10-13, version 1.03*

Love this game, but it cost money only to white screen my iPad, and it doesn't start after you played it, you have to uninstall it, reinstall it, play for a while until it quits, and it pretty much a cycle of me loving this game and hating it, all in all I wouldn't buy it until they fix something

### 3/5 — Not bad, needs bug fixes

*2016-10-13, version 1.03*

The start up screen crashes 8/10 times. Gameplay is fun and addictive, but can be repetitive. Also, their is no way to boost relationships with factions after they drop below 100 and start firing on you. Great potential for a mobile app.

### 4/5 — what have you done to me?

*2016-09-13, version 1.03*

downside are small buttons (but you're gonna used to it) and how fast my battery dies (very fast seriously, i tick off everything even outside the game) apart from that it's a perfect game for me.

it's not hard to learn maybe because i like this kind of games.

if you like anything about space, trading and space again go buy the game!

### 4/5 — Lots of potential

*2016-07-12, version 1.02*

This is the best 2d space trader game I could find I the App Store. It has a vibrant economy and your choices affect the whole game. Combat is handled well. With that said, here are a couple things:

- I'm not sure if it's just a bug or not, but the music never changes. It's always the same track. A good track, but always the same.

- The missile button could be just slightly larger. With the current size I end up losing my targeting half the time because I press the surrounding space.

- Is there an ability to conquer systems for yourself? Not independently for a faction (I can't figure out how to do that either) but conquer it for your own gains.

Overall a great game. Will there be updates in the future for more systems/ships/modules etc? Would love to see more exploration and capitol ships.

### 5/5 — Deep, Engaging, and Just Plain Fun

*2016-06-07, version 1.01*

This game has a simple, straightforward gameplay that hides a deep and complexly interconnected world. Your choices have far-reaching consequences in a game that is breathtaking in its scope.

The gameplay is fun, the universe in engaging, and the lore is deep. I highly reccommend it!

### 5/5 — Don't be fooled

*2016-06-07, version 1.01*

Listen, I don't write reviews but the obnoxious review this other guy left is ridiculous.

1). This game is old time-y, doesn't hold your hand. The tutorial is quick and then you're in the universe.

2). The universe is awesome. 3 major factions plus 2 extra groups all attacking each other.

3). The beauty of this game, and the reason I know the other reviewer is unfair...

Planet has shortage of item. This brings in more merchants, merchants breed pirates. More pirates mean more mercs. And it just keeps going. Bring more merchandise to a chosen faction? They will produce more ships and gear and wage war on the other groups. Want to help? Do it. Want tone a merchant? Try arming their enemies, or messing with them by blockade running drugs to them.

So yea, while the game starts as harsh, there is a no penalty easy mode (you are transported to starter area) and slightly more punishing (you lose some creds and your cargo) to Rogue-like loss of ship, creds, cargo.

Honestly, the dev has done nothing but answer questions and make this game better. But, this is from someone who misses Privateer. Take the time to try it. 8 bucks and since launch I've put in about 20-25 hrs. Money well spent.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2020-08-17, version 2.0.1*

You guys messed up those controls soooooo badly that I can’t even bear to play it. Did you guys even test it before you just decided on crap controls. Also why is there no settings menu? Just a pause button I can’t even go back to home screen without exiting the game because there is no option to.... you guys sold this game to people and stole there money I will be reporting you guys to the App Store for overpricing you’re game and it’s not even functional. I hope they remove your game from the store like fort nite....

### 1/5 — Horrible flying controls ..

*2019-11-16, version 2.0.1*

Why not a joy stick like all other flying games... I want my money bak but haven’t been able to figure out the refund process... msg me with info if anyone knows ...

**Developer response:** It's not like other games because its designed so that you can fly "hands-off" for mid and late game when you have a full squad and many active ability/mods to control in combat. It takes a short period of time to get comfortable. If you want a refund, you use the App Store app, and view your history of purchased apps.

### 1/5 — Not compatible with iPad Pro 9” screen

*2019-08-03, version 2.0.1*

It sez it’s compatible but I can’t see or access any of the controls on the bottom of the screen. Is there a fix or can I have my money back.

**Developer response:** Sorry about that, I don't have access to the Pro 9" for testing. You can request a refund through the App Store. I am unable to process it directly.

### 1/5 — Game mechanics appear broken

*2018-01-20, version 1.05*

Game mechanics seem to be broken. My ship flies off screen, I can’t jump out of the system. Completely broken. Such a shame because it looks like a great escape velocity port

### 1/5 — Bad gameplay

*2017-11-28, version 1.05*

I feel cheated I'm on a iPad Air 2 and it won't let me shoot or even equip weapons please fix it please

### 1/5 — Bad controls bad Port

*2017-08-19, version 1.05*

Main points :
Good controls are required, but you have bad controls.

Losing progress in the game due to buying ship.

Lack of information in the game or on the internet.

The controls are unintuitive and annoying. The game, however, requires precise control of your ship to land on planets and go through gates. There are many times when the I missed a gate and had to circle around and try again. Targeting a ship with missiles sometimes causes you to lose targeting. Buying a new ship causes you to lose all weapons on your original ship. That seems to be a major design flaw. There are no instructions on how the planets and factions work. Apparently there are capital ships in the game, but you don't have access to them.

### 1/5 — Tried to warn people how bad this is...

*2017-07-10, version 1.05*

Im sorry to the last person who left a review saying you feel cheated. I feel your pain.
Can we please get a zero star option or a negative stars.

purchased this game by mistake... I thought it was another upcoming 4x game that's not released yet. My bad... But the punishment fits the crime with this game. The controls are abhorred, there seems to be no point other then attacking other ships again with abhorred controls. The map system is terrible, there is no where to see your current mission. You are supposed to tap and hold your finger down as sort of a left click, to open some items such as when you level up, that doesn't work properly. The sound goes in and out. I am hugely disappointed. Maybe they will fix some things

### 1/5 — Crap game

*2017-07-09, version 1.05*

I feel cheated purchasing this garbage.

### 1/5 — Pointless grind and data loss

*2017-05-05, version 1.05*

I played for about 5 or 6 hours and as far as I can tell, there is no main mission or story. All the enemies are stronger then your starting ship so my entire experience was a slow grind to try to get a better ship. Unfortunately I never got that ship because after a few days I turned the game on only to find that my save data was no longer there.
Could be a good game if it wasn't so hard and had an objective and didn't erase my save data.

Edit: Apparently the data loss issue has been fixed but I haven't tested it

**Developer response:** The recent iOS update caused file-structures to change to a different format so saves from previous iOS was lost, my apologies. Saves with the new iOS should work fine.

### 1/5 — Dosent work

*2016-10-21, version 1.04*

It says local severs already up its fake guys dont download im reporting this to better business buro

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great port.

*2020-07-19, version 2.0.1*

Had initial problems with movement but the problem resolved itself. Love this game on PC and am happy to have it on iPad.

**Developer response:** Hi, could you describe the issue? Don't work as in not at all, you can't touch the d-pad or you just can't figure it out? Please contact me through email and I can try to help.

### 5/5 — Great game, well worth. X feel

*2020-05-24, version 2.0.1*

Man, I do not have a computer anymore so I can’t play the X universe games. This is a great substitute. Myles, 2D rather than 3 but it has everything. Trade. Police. Pirate. It is a really good game with lots of depth and dynamism. Well worth the price.

### 5/5 — Amazing game and a must buy

*2019-05-05, version 2.0.1*

No sure how a solo developer pulled this off, but the game really feels like a modern version of escape velocity

**Developer response:** Thank you! Escape Velocity & Wing Command Privateer was my inspiration, I lived in those worlds growing up. :)

### 5/5 — It a good time killer

*2019-05-04, version 2.0.1*

I’ve been playing this game for a long time, I personally really like it, sure there could be some improvements but I am satisfy with this app.

### 5/5 — Great game.

*2017-01-23, version 1.05*

I'm really enjoying it so far it reminds me of star sector but on my phone!

### 5/5 — Fantastic 2d Space Sim

*2016-12-30, version 1.05*

Oh man, been lookin//waiting for a mobile Escape Velocity like game. Definitely the best of the few I've found out yet. Lots of ships, decent weapon variety (hope for more in future updates!) and interesting random events. Controls take getting used to but with the alternate style selected from the options it starts to work really well for mobile.

I do have a wishlist for future updates that l'll send the dev in an email :P

Great work though dev! Keep updates coming pretty please!!!

### 5/5 — Epic customer service for an epic game!

*2016-10-21, version 1.04*

The dev may just be one guy but he really went to work after I dropped him an email about the game not having sound on my tablet. It only took a few weeks and the update that brought sound to the game on my tablet was out. It's Devs like this that we need making games. They create awesome games and actually care about their fan base.
Oh and Star Nomad 2 is amazing. It's worth paying the $13 that steam has it for. I enjoy the game so much I'm getting it on steam too.
Remember what bios are did when the mass effect game on iOS lost its sound? They just pulled it from the App Store instead of fixing it for their fans.
And that was a triple A studio. Thank you halfgeek studios for being the awesome dev you are!

### 5/5 — Great game

*2016-06-16, version 1.01*

High quality but somewhat unfriendly at the outset. Well worth the effort to learn. We need more games like this.

### 5/5 — iPhone 6

*2016-06-10, version 1.01*

I am playing this game on my iPhone 6 and it runs great, I haven't had any difficulties with the buttons or controls and am immensely enjoying this game a lot more than the first one. The author has made many improvements and added many new elements over the first one and this is a far superior game. Even though it states it's not for smaller screens that's because the author is afraid that for some people maybe with bigger fingers that things will be hard to control, at least that's what I think but it runs perfect on my iPhone 6 although I wouldn't try running it on anything smaller.

### 5/5 — A living star system in your iPad!

*2016-06-09, version 1.01*

Let's get this out of the way: this game is not easy, it will not hold your hand, it will show you no mercy early on, and you must be curious because it lacks rails to guide you from objective to objective.

Now that that's taken care of, those still reading will find SN2 is a challenging, rewarding gameplay experience. Do you miss Privateer? This is very much like the Privateer/ Elite series. The entire galaxy is simulated in realtime, with warring factions gaining and losing ground, Pirates and the looming Zerker menace showing up at the worst imaginable times, and then there's you—in your tiny, ineffectual starter ship, feeling quite impotent.

Will you stay impotent in your dinky corvette, or will you upgrade, gather a team of wingmen, and change the shape of power throughout the star system? Which faction(s) will you side with? Drone ship, missile boat, or turret-based warship? What will you do when someone asks you to run illicit substances to a nearby port?

This game is DEEP. I have spent 14 hours on my first pilot so far, and I'm completely hooked. There's nothing else like this on mobile!
