I’ve used Starryai since it was first in the AppStore, and it’s changed so dramatically, for the good! My first images were barely recognizable and now I produce pro images. My great disappointment is the sudden disappearance of the Take a Trendy Pic and Put Yourself in, Section! I’ve done some wonderful work using free-to-edit images, and today I find the app no longer has that option. I want it back or I’m moving on to apps that allow that creativity. ### 4/5 — Love it *2026-06-24, version 2.28.1* This is great for images ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Worthless Now *2026-09-01, version 2.30.6* The “pay to play” on this app is ridiculous. 1 free lumen a day is absolutely preposterous, especially when most styles cost 2 or more credits for per generation. The old model of forcing users to watch ads for additional, modest quantities of lumens worked fine, and I can assure you the developers were still making out like bandits. These days, you’re better off learning how to run stable diffusion without apps like this (I.e Dream by Wombo, NightCafe, etc.) ### 1/5 — Charge without permission *2026-08-25, version 2.30.5* No way to cancel fraud dont get ### 1/5 — Not worth the subscription fee. *2026-08-15, version 2.30.5* This is an edit of a previous review of mine, and the original title was, worth the subscription fee. It no longer is though. First off, you get credits to use with your subscription, which renew weekly, but don't accumulate either. At first it was fine because doing a certain action would cost 5 credits (Lumens), then they bumped it up to 10 credits, now they've bumped it up to 14 credits. This is just an example for one type, an image edit, but everything has gone up substantially. As a paid subscriber, having to use credits in itself is a scam, but now they get used up so much quicker because they've increased the costs. Scammers. Second of all, I don't know what changes have been made in the back end but the models are now awful and they don't work as intended, the output is so low quality, I'm not talking image quality, I'm talking no matter how good and detailed your prompt is, you're getting something that looks outdated and cheap like AI from a few years ago, or free web based AI tools. Even when using an image as source and selecting the strength to be 100%, it instead outputs garbage that looks significantly different. You've went from one of the best, to one of the worst. I will not be renewing my subscription and looking elsewhere instead. Personally as an adult when I buy something I should be able to make my own decisions, so I will be canceling the subscription. ### 1/5 — Theft *2026-06-10, version 2.28.0* So when I decided to sign up after trying it, it linked my Apple account with the guest account i was using….and when they linked, all the lumens I paid for not five minute prior were gone. They stole my 7.99. I’m reporting it my card as fraudulent. This is a scam and their AI is whack anyway. It’s pretty consistent and can normally do exactly what I want to do. Sometimes it says things are restricted because of whatever dumb reason they have for example. I was trying to make a funny picture of my buddies dog lighting a canon, in the description I put have the dog holding a stick with fire on it about to light the canon, it restricted it and wouldn’t make it. I then changed it to have the dog pretend to light the canon, it did it on its own and had the dog holding a huge lit match. Go figure!
