## What is Starsplit?

Match gems across 1,000 levels, out where the sky is never the same
twice.

Starsplit is a match-3 that keeps giving you new things to think about. Gems
don't just fall down — wormholes reroute where they land, walls cut the board
in half, and stasis fields creep across it if you leave them alone. Every one
of the 1,000 levels is the same board for every player, tuned by playing it
thousands of times, so a level that beats you is a level you can learn.

THE SPLIT

Once a level, a star arrives on the board. Tap it and choose what it becomes —
a full row and column, three sweeping rows, a lane straight down, or a crater.

It costs you nothing, and it is the only real choice the board hands you. Every
other move does the one thing the pieces under your finger were already going
to do. The four shapes are deliberately the same size as each other: you're not
picking the strongest, you're picking what this board needs.

TEN CHAPTERS, EACH ONE SOMEWHERE ELSE

Every hundred levels opens a new region with its own sky, and brings something
the game has never done before.

• The Local Arm — deep indigo, and the six obstacles that shape a board
• The Ember Reach — the stasis field starts to creep, and spreads if ignored
• The Cold Deep — a seventh color, thinning every match on the board
• The Iron Belt — the clock: some levels run on time, not on moves
• The Amethyst Veil — the forge: goals that ask you to BUILD specials
• The Dying Star — the shatter: the creeping field becomes the target
• The Verdant Wake — two goals at once, and neither one finishes it alone
• The Jade Narrows — airlock doors, opening and closing every few moves
• The Sulphur Drift — a fusion charge, counting down on a single gem
• The Gunmetal Verge — a Space Pirate. It marks a gem and freezes it on its
next move, so you get one move to answer — and it can be fought off

BUILT TO BE PLAYED, NOT FARMED

• One currency, earned by playing. No soft-and-hard pair to juggle.
• Stardust pays out on NEW stars only — going back to do a level properly is
what earns, not grinding one you've already beaten.
• Free lives that refill on their own, and a weekly slate of challenges that is
the same three goals for everyone alive that week.
• Play offline. Every level runs on your device.

COMFORT

Hints, reduced motion and colorblind marks are all in Settings, and all off by
default — the board is quiet unless you ask it not to be. Full support for iPad,
in portrait and landscape.

A thousand levels. One star to spend, every level. See how far out you get.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.3.0 — 2026-09-03

FOUR HUNDRED NEW LEVELS, AND FOUR NEW CHAPTERS.

Starsplit ends at level 1,000 now, and each of the four new hundreds opens on something the
game has never done before.

• The Verdant Wake — levels that ask for two goals at once. Neither one finishes it alone.
• The Jade Narrows — airlock doors that open and close every few moves, so where the gems
  fall changes under you.
• The Sulphur Drift — a fusion charge, counting down on a single gem. Match it before it
reaches zero or it goes off and freezes everything around it.
• The Gunmetal Verge — a Space Pirate. It marks a gem and freezes it on its NEXT move, so
you get exactly one move to answer. It is the first thing in this game with an intent, and
it can be fought: fire a comet up its column and it withdraws.

Eight new board shapes, and every one of the new levels was played hundreds of times before
it shipped, the same as the first six hundred.

Also in this update:

• Three stars is more reachable. The two upper marks were re-measured on every level against
how a person actually scores rather than how a bot does — no level got harder, and a rating
you have already earned is never taken back.
• A How to play page in Settings, holding every mechanic the game has explained to you, in
the same words it used at the time.
• Auto-Finish: when a level has nothing left to earn, you can take the win rather than play
  out the remaining moves.
• A new launch screen, and a long list of fixes to the board — including an airlock that
could take a move without giving you anything for it.

### 1.2.3 — 2026-08-27

Listing update: adds an App Store preview video. The app itself is unchanged.

### 1.2.2 — 2026-08-26

Listing updates. Nothing in the game changed.

### 1.2.1 — 2026-08-24

bug fixes and improvements

### 1.2.0 — 2026-08-21

Three new chapters. 300 more levels.

The Clock — some levels now run on a timer instead of a move budget.
The Forge — goals that ask you to build comets and black holes, not clear them.
The Shatter — the creeping stasis field stops being the hazard and becomes the target.

Three new regions to cross — the Iron Belt, the Amethyst Veil and the Dying Star — with 119 new worlds on the map and eight new board shapes.

Also in this update:
- A rebuilt header that tucks into the corners around the Dynamic Island, giving the board more room
- A clearer goal card, and a star meter that shows what each star actually costs
- Proper landscape on iPad — the board is roughly twice the size
- Bigger, easier-to-hit buttons throughout
- Fixed a rare freeze on wormhole boards, and a bug where rotating an iPad mid-move could leave the board wrong
