### 3/5 — Good and simple app

*2025-08-12*

App is good for simple goal tracking. Other apps get very complicated with tracking calories, details of meals etc. Only con about this is app is you cannot set goals for future dates - only same day or past. Would love to see an update where we can set future goals, even at a week or month at a time.

### 3/5 — Not Great for Tracking

*2025-03-05, version 1.24.1*

The strongest feature this app has is providing ideas for how to get more of each category (veggies, fruit, etc.) and suggesting how much of a thing constitutes a portion; but it doesn't allow you to log how many portions you consume.

It's really just a suggestions type of app, not a tracking app.

### 2/5 — Making an account is atrocious!

*2025-02-26, version 1.24.1*

Too difficult, needing to go through the DoA’s website with the pressure of having a government account. If this was a resource they wanted you to use they wouldn’t make it so impossible to even try out.

### 3/5 — Is It Any Good?

*2024-09-12*

This MyPlate app needs lots of work! Other wellness apps like MyFitnessPal offer much more specificity on curating meal plans, calorie tracking, and activity levels.

So why use the MyPlate app? It's number 1 benefit for nutrition practitioners is the ability to quickly provide daily food group recommendations for all ages at any time.

Consider the parents who aren't sure how much food to give their 1 year old, the patient you just saw who can't name 5 different fruits or veggies, even consider yourself - do you know your own food group recommendations?

Consider downloading the app and leaving a comment on their app page, we as RD's must play a role in the advocacy of our health technology that our tax dollars fund

### 1/5 — Zero stars for an extra confusing useless app

*2024-09-01, version 1.24.1*

I’m scratching my head trying to figure out the point of this app. Literally only want to track daily calories but there doesn’t seem to be a free app for that

### 3/5 — Inconvenient

*2024-08-22, version 1.24.1*

Setting up the account was super annoying. Why bother with the app if it keeps redirecting me to the website? And why doesn’t the daily calorie meal plan from the website appear in the app? The app doesn’t take any of that into consideration. It’s kind of pointless.

### 3/5 — Not able to keep track of daily intake.

*2024-08-21, version 1.24.1*

3 stars: 2 star for calculating how much one needs and 1 for recipes. Disappointing that it’s so difficult to find how to keep track of daily intake.

### 1/5 — I cannot find portions for my age

*2024-08-07, version 1.24.1*

Circular app. I keep putting in info but I don’t get portions of individual food groups .
It’s not working correctly

### 1/5 — OK app. Sketchy privacy. Tracks your web surfing!

*2024-07-20, version 1.24*

Way intrusive. Tracks web browsing. See privacy info inside the app.

### 1/5 — Endless cycle between login.gov and authentication

*2024-06-23, version 1.24*

I registered a new account with login.gov only to be told. I have to link it to an existing E authentication account. However, when I try to create an authentication account, it sends me back to login.gov. I have yet access the app because of the situation.

### 1/5 — My Plate

*2024-04-15, version 1.24*

Can’t even get into the site unless I use ‘guest’…😡

### 1/5 — Australia

*2024-03-17, version 1.24*

This Application was actually recommended from the Australian government website… and being a US government official application… I have to say, whoever got the grant for this doesn’t deserve the endorsement in the future. A first year undergraduate in any health field could put together a better program. The whole process feels exhausting with limit tailoring at all. Do you think people don’t know they aren’t eating foods enough? You need to tell them how much they are and should be. Give specific results and recommendations. This information has been available for decades. How can you get this so wrong so easily. And I get the idea of gamification being great for personal goals and healthcare… but you actually have to apply the concept properly. There’s nothing rewarding about this, especially for people that elect to use it to learn who are overwhelmed and time poor (everyone!). Badges aren’t rewards. Even children don’t perform for token boards so why would adults? The rewards have to be meaningful and personal to the individual and their goals they’re working on. Like why not partner with a food delivery company that gives discounts on their meal kits, or grocery stores that provide vouchers for people that are actively working to achieve a healthier lifestyle? The whole point about harping on about individual health and wellness is the both the extreme cost of emergency adverse health events in the health sector, as well as the increased years of productivity. This entire program seems like punishment. Why design an application that creates more effort than value for citizens by giving them meaningless, pointless badges and wastes more of their very limited time by making them complete extremely basic quizzes that have no meaningful results… You could have an outcome based measurement tool integrated into this app and use it for public health research. The results don’t even talk about serving size, portions per day. You can’t make SMART goals from something that vague. Stop investing in corporate billionaires who don’t give a rats about anything other than their own wallets and start realising the value of investing in people.

### 1/5 — Not very helpful, needs work!

*2024-03-13*

There’s a bunch of prefabricated goals but no real point to using this app. I deleted it right away as I found it pretty useless. It would be better if they overhauled it and turned it into a servings tracker instead based on quiz results. Yes, we know how to divide a plate properly, but having a calorie/serving type/size tracker, including a visual of what those sizes look like would actually be useful. It would be great to have multiple profiles to track a family and have all of that information in one place Vs having to measure and scour the internet to find it. Please fix this! There is potential in the idea it’s just not there yet.

### 2/5 — Subscriptions

*2024-02-24, version 1.24*

Very difficult to unsubscribe.

### 1/5 — Can’t even create an account

*2024-02-14, version 1.24*

Don’t even know if this app is good or not. I’ve been trying to create an account for DAYS and nothing works

### 2/5 — Macros

*2024-01-25, version 1.24*

Wish it allowed you to enter your macros, for example, 70% carbs, 15% protein, and 15% fat. Then allowed you to see daily progress towards that.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Glitchi 😔😔😔

*2025-08-25, version 1.24.1*

The app detects food incorrectly…

### 1/5 — Useless

*2025-07-17, version 1.24.1*

All it does it allow you to set goals/notifications to eat the food groups during a meal. All of the info on planning, the food groups, etc is available on the website. There is no need to download this app. It is entirely possible to set up the exact same goals/notifications in other organizational apps.

### 1/5 — No control

*2025-07-08, version 1.24.1*

Doesn’t allow you to customize anything. We used the original app to help a teen make sure they hit enough calories for a GI disorder that causes malabsorption. This new app chooses food categories for you and won’t let you track what you eat like it previously did

### 1/5 — Track MyPlate

*2025-06-17, version 1.24.1*

I used SuperTracker years ago and was excited to pick it back up. Unfortunately this app only gives you weird goals and no actual consumption tracking. I would love to see an app that just does simple food group tracking again particularly for people who aren’t trying to look at calories and just trying to have a balanced day

### 1/5 — Waste of time

*2025-06-11, version 1.24.1*

Took soooo much time creating logins and verifying that it isn’t even worth it.

### 1/5 — Not really useful

*2025-05-09, version 1.24.1*

Wish it would let you put in goals of the quantity you are supposed to meet—not the RANDOM goals of “start your day with fruit” and “gave fruit with dinner “—how does that help any thing? I thought this app would help me track how much of each type of food. Disappointed

### 1/5 — Impossible

*2025-04-27, version 1.24.1*

Could it be any more difficult to log? Authenticate what code? Where? Why should I delete my account?

I only want to track and improve my nutrition to improve my health.

I don't need launch codes for nuclear armaments.

### 1/5 — DON’T DOWNLOAD THE APP

*2025-04-02, version 1.24.1*

This absolutely sucked. It didn’t save my plan, and it also wouldn’t let me sign in. Every time i would go to look for the number that it sent me, it wouldn’t let me do it. It just closed my progress. I do not recommend.

### 1/5 — Pedantic

*2024-11-22, version 1.24.1*

Needs KETO,PALEO,PRIMAL,CARNIVORE, and eating styles beyond the rigid USDA

### 1/5 — MyPlate Simple

*2024-10-29, version 1.24.1*

Hard to create an account

### 5/5 — Love it‼️

*2022-02-11, version 1.21.2*

I have been on a healthy diet journey since the beginning of February and I have been working on my meal planning and new ways to help me stay on track. This app is a great tool to have.
