Safari has tab groups built in. Pointless app. ### 1/5 — Colossal Fail, it closed all my tabs. *2021-12-11, version 1.1* iOS15.1 on iPhone 8. Somehow I was switched inside the app from reviewing my hundred open regular tabs to Private mode (maybe by opening/clicking on a tab that was originally in private mode) and then all of my open tabs in regular mode were closed/deleted by this app, Startpage.ai. There was no option to go back to the “not private” set of tabs. They just vanished. I absolutely did NOT use the iOS 15 feature to close all tabs. I didn’t even know that existed until I looked up ways to try and retrieve my lost tabs. The app vanished/ removed them without me doing anything. Only a handful of tabs remained under Private, and I was unable to get back the other open tabs. Also when I open the app directly, the user directions don’t even properly display on the screen; both the logo at the top and the instruction text on the bottom are cut off. This app is not ready for prime time and I regret reading about it on HowToGeek. Deleting. 😡 **Developer response:** Apologies for the issues and both of them should be fixed in the 1.2 release. The instructions being cut off were due to not testing on smaller screens which has been fixed. The loss of private mode tabs was due to an edge case on first install and for what it's worth your review was helpful in isolating how to reproduce it and it should be fixed now. Please email if this is not fixed for you or just to confirm it's been resolved. Thanks. ### 1/5 — doesn't work *2021-09-21, version 1.0* it lists the oldest open tabs first and the most recent you have to scroll all the way diwn... therefore useless **Developer response:** Would like to investigate and resolve this. Thanks. ### 2/5 — CANNOT SCROLL FAVS *2022-01-19, version 1.2* When start page is default: enter the search bar; favorites pop up, try to scroll favorites, then instantly goes back to start page. This abrupt behavior is only on the iPhone. iPad seems to be working as it should. Kinda useless if I can’t access favorites while start page is default. ### 2/5 — Works but not nicely *2021-12-25, version 1.1* Dark mode should follow the OS settings. Currently it requires a separate click. Needs a close all button. It works but definitely isn’t seamless with Safari’s UI. **Developer response:** A close all button is in the new 1.2 release. Thanks! ## Most praised reviews (8 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — By far my favorite safari extension for iOS *2023-05-12* I don’t know how this didn’t exist before. If you’re like me and start hoarding tabs that you want to return to, it’s nerve wracking when one of your safari sessions on iOS starts approaching 500 tabs. With startpage, you can easily see a list of all tabs and sort from when you visited, search the list to find a tab, and close any you no longer need which definitely helps with anxiety. Sometimes I close one and it says it was visited three weeks ago and I think “what was I thinking to feel I would need to go back to that page?” ### 5/5 — Fantastic, far superior to the default StartPage! *2022-12-09, version 1.2* Let me start by saying this is such a useful extension and the fact that the developer is giving it away for free, as in 100% free, with no ads, nothing, which is really impressive and very, very, very much appreciated. That being said, it’s not without its bugs, but nothing that disables the experience whatsoever. The only bug I have to deal with is that occasionally the start page extension will stop working, and it’ll go back to the default browser behavior. The way I fix that is a turn the extension off and back on, and then it starts working normally again. I would say it’s probably about once or twice a month that I have to restart the extension, so I’m guessing that’s just a safaris aggressive behavior. I don’t think Apple likes not having control necessarily, but yeah, if that one bug could be fixed, I would have absolutely nothing else to say. This is just a phenomenal extension. ### 5/5 — Improvement suggestions *2022-08-31, version 1.2* Great app, thank you for providing it. A suggestion is to add ability to select multiple tabs and copy the URLs. This would be easier than opening each tab and copying the URL for each desired page if I wanted to save them for future reference. ### 5/5 — Great! *2021-11-19, version 1.1* Only thing I would add is a way to search the current tabs.
