StarWaves is an audiovisual sound architect, the embodiment of sound, space and visual design rolled into one.  StarWaves puts you in a non-gravitational environment. It can import the sonic material in its concrete form as recorded files. Then this digital data is being represented as 3D rigid physical forms in space. We name them “the platform blocks” distributed spatially, a structure which stems from the sonic material being imported. There can be 100s of them, reaching the granular levels of sonic material. The layout of the platforms can be designed with 3D tools like positioning, rotation; they can be stretched, bent, scattered along their physical dimensions in continuous transformations. StarWaves uses on its scene the transmitters which send particles and beams of light to the space ( reminiscent to particle behavior of light or sound ) They hit the platform blocks ( representing the sonic material ) get reflected and collide with further objects, travel in distance until they die. The time they collide with these rigid bodies they trigger sonic events and start a flow of synthesis processes depending on the kinematic behavior. It is this continuous spatial interaction, this physical realm which composes the sonic being and applies continuous transformations on its texture. On StarWaves, we don’t interact directly with the sound data as on a standard sound synthesis tool but we design the architecture of the scene which will compose the sonic organization through the kinematic interactions and let perform this on a timeline. Hails! ### 4/5 — A Good Start *2022-05-18* This app has a huge amount of potential, and the sounds it can create are nothing short of extraordinary. However, it also has some serious issues that limit its usefulness. First, its navigation in 3D space is a bit clunky, to which I would suggest a set of small controls at the bottom of the 3D space specifically to make moving around the space without interacting with the sound generators much easier. I am on a 12.9” iPad Pro, and still have trouble navigating the 3D space effectively. It is not terrible, but it can be frustrating sometimes. Second, the app does NOT play well with others. Getting sound into other apps for use in compositions or other musical arrangements is a pain. The fact that the app is not a plug-in, and there is no InterApp audio (which I understand is being phased out by Apple), means you need to go through WAY too many steps to move the sound to other apps. This can really interrupt the flow of music production. If the dev can sort these issues out, the app is an easy 5 star musical gem. At the moment, the app sits somewhere between a novel musical toy and a truly powerful sound design platform, although it would not take much work to get it firmly into the later. I hope the developer gives this one some attention, as their apps are all absolute gems. ### 4/5 — Hopefully Starwaves will grow in the future *2022-05-18* Crashes a lot on my 1st Gen iPad Pro. Code not very efficient. Does not save state and does not support playing in the background. The developer puts the concept to pretty good use. Animoog/Z pioneered the concept. The physical interaction is rudimentary and difficult to control at times because you can’t realistically model three dimensional space in two dimensions as far as a user’s physical interaction. That said there is a lot of subtlety in the basic controls provided. My biggest disappointment is that Starwave will not play in the background! That, considering the self-playing Starwaves can do, was a surprise. The whole preset handling window is way too small with real small, hard to read font. Only 16-bit WAV file samples are supported. What did convince me to buy Starwaves was it’s 52-page user manual! Good job. $9.99 for more skins is way to expensive. The choice not to add AUv3 support, the sales would be higher. The potential is amazing. ### 1/5 — Think I was just robbed. *2022-05-13* Have the latest gen iPad Pro I’m a musician been playing business since 1984…Don’t think I’ll even use this for anything sadly. Enjoy yer $9 bucks…This seems like a scam. **Developer response:** I’m sorry you couldn’t find any use for your specific music. But calling it a scam is pure calumny. It’s clearly a new type of software and embraces a new paradigm in music making. Have you checked the tutorial videos ?
