This app does not do premium subscribers like myself justice. I shouldn’t have to be taken out of the app to read stat plus articles. In fact, being a subscriber should unlock a better more powerful data driven app. Instead it’s just a directly of articles. Good for 2010, horrible for 2021 ### 2/5 — Beautifully presented but not practical *2020-06-11* I got the app to have a better experience of the online Covid vaccine tracker that doesn’t work right on a phone. Well, can I even find the vaccine tracker on the app? No. I can’t search it or find anything. You have some subject headings with curated news, but you can only scroll through it. This could be a really important source for global health articles, but without a search option, without filters, it’s not fit for purpose, really. ### 1/5 — Useless app *2020-04-07* The app doesn’t integrate with the website at all. The story layout is horrible. There is no way to sort things by date. It’s only once you click on a story that you get taken to a screen where you can find a menu to sort stories by topic. I love the news service but this app is a waste of time. I hope people don’t look at the app and think this is what they really represent. There is no way to increase the itty bitty 8 pt font used in all their news articles which is useless and impossible for me to read. Their email newsletter is a little better as I can scroll in but come on people. Think and lead by example. ### 1/5 — Pointless App *2019-04-23* As noted by other reviewers, this app from Stat News doesn’t integrate with a StatPlus subscription — which means that you’re better off just bookmarking the StatNews website in your browser and accessing stories there instead (since most of what you’ll want to read will require clicking through the app to the web anyway). This is really lazy app development. ### 1/5 — No Stat+ subscriber access; disappointing UX *2018-12-08* Paying $29/month for a Stat+ subscription, you still can’t access any premium articles from within the app. Instead, you’re only given a paragraph, and redirected to login to your account via a browser. Only there can you read Stat+ articles. An incredibly disappointing user experience. ### 1/5 — Same problem as above *2018-10-14* The above review noted the blank screen. Every single clickable link within an article launches in web vs in the app (meaning you would have to log in on the web site). This is a simple oversight that should be rectified. I was trying to read an article on the mobile site, saw an add for the app, downloaded it, and had the app send me back to the mobile site. The stat app on the other hand can’t even format text let alone change font size or at least make the content readable on an iPad. Hard to believe this still happens in 2020. They summarize and communicate information ina. Very easy to understand way. The app is great too. My biggest problem is the touch sensitivity which cause me to click on an article while scrolling. Even when I’m super careful I still manage to click on the same article many times and have to go back to the feed to keep scrolling. It is packed with things you cannot find elsewhere, and articles are excellent. The app however needs work. There is no share button, and the only way to share an article is by googling the title. Also the app is overly sensitive to the touch.
