I type in "frozen onion", and the first 9 hits are kinds of ice cream. I'm not sure how they've coded their search function to work, but it's done badly and needs an overhaul. Reversing the terms to "onion frozen" does nothing to change my results. What were the devs THINKING?? Maybe it's bringing up most popular items associated with the search terms first?? But if so, that's stupid. This isn't a new change, I'm just finally irritated enough after months of dealing with their poorly coded search engine to say something. I tried to make it work, I really did. ### 2/5 — Lackluster, especially when compared to the competition. *2026-08-18, version 3.0.21* This app leaves a ton to be desired. It is unbelievably slow at times, the weekly Ads and deals aren’t readily available and obvious, and the overall user experience is poor especially when compared to Albertsons, Walmart, and Target. I enjoy stater brothers and their quality but, when I’m shopping via app, they are coming in last for ease and functionality. ### 3/5 — Needs updates *2026-08-16, version 3.0.21* When you type an item in the search bar, it would be nice if that item showed up. I typed in Sprite and the first six items that showed up we’re not sprite. There should be a filter that allows you to show items in the store by aisle, either in a descending or ascending order. So that way, when you make your list and your shopping in store, you don’t have to keep scrolling through your list to check items off. ### 3/5 — Potential *2026-08-07, version 3.0.20* This app has so much potential, but it’s still lacking in a lot of areas. The interface between text messages and the app itself are mediocre at best. Half the time I can’t get the app to inform my store that I’m there for my pick up. Also, I can’t find previous orders or add to my pending orders. This feature would be very helpful. ### 3/5 — Glitched Again *2026-08-03, version 3.0.20* The new update brought back the glitches where I can’t choose my store and therefore can’t actually shop. I wrote to Stater Bros app support once about this, but they didn’t understand. They replied that they changed my preferred store for me, but that wasn’t the issue. It never changed the store on my end, and it didn’t fix all the buttons missing their text, etc. The app didn’t work for about a week. It did end up being fixed, but now with this latest update, it’s all glitched out again. Can’t shop at all. ### 1/5 — Update *2026-07-02, version 3.0.15* The new update made the ad portion unusable. You can’t zoom in on the ads anymore and move it around. It’s a waste of space on my phone now. ### 2/5 — Lots of dead links and hard to click *2026-07-02, version 3.0.15* Love Stater Brothers Love online shopping. But the app has never been as good as others like Albertsons or Walmart. There are lots of dead links from weekly flyer, which force you back into the search function to find your items. And clicking the actual add to car button 30% of the time says, unable to add to cart. Every time I get a code and type it in it tells me it’s incorrect. No thanks. ### 2/5 — Loading issues. *2026-06-23, version 3.0.15* So many loading issues. First opening it, it’s stuck on loading screen. Doesnt always add additional item when increasing quantity for items. Clicking on the substitute check box freezes it in a loading screen. Doesnt let you do the mix and match deals that are found in store. ### 1/5 — Literally Unusable Now *2026-06-11, version 3.0.15* You took an already clanky app that didn’t allow you to shop well and made it unusable in this update. If you search any item it will say “0 results found”. Even if you type “eggs” or “milk” it will say nothing is found. Get it together Stater Bros, I exclusively shop on mobile pickups so I’m going to Ralph’s until it’s fixed ### 1/5 — Broken since forced update *2026-06-08, version 3.0.15* Cannot check out. All the buttons are blank. Even when you click them and can get something to pop up, it cannot proceed. It bounces you back to the cart. ### 3/5 — Search function is useless *2026-06-06, version 3.0.15* Overall the app functions well, but the search function is barely helpful. It always brings up random items when I search for something fairly specific. For instance, I just search “multipack chips” and the first results were gum, Snickers, and multiple listings for tampons. When chips finally started showing up, they were just single bags. I use the app for price comparisons or just to see if they carry a certain item I need, and the bad searches make that hard. ### 2/5 — “Undefined” issue *2026-06-06, version 3.0.15* I can’t search up anything or look for any product because I keep getting the word “undefined” on my screen with nothing showing. ### 1/5 — Terrible “update”. Can’t zoom In anymore! *2026-06-05, version 3.0.15* They released an update, and now you can’t zoom in to actually see anything or read it. The only way you can zoom in is if you download the stupid flyer. What an unnecessary waste of time, and insanely ridiculous. Vons app lets you zoom in just fine and is way better. Bring back the zoom option!!!!! ### 1/5 — Would be great if it worked *2026-06-03, version 3.0.15* I’ll spend about 10-15 minutes adding groceries to my cart when suddenly everything is “no longer available”. Restart the app and try again, and at a certain point it just crashes and you lose everything. Search function needs work too. E.g. search “Frozen Bell Pepper” and you won’t find it. Search “Pepper strips” and there they are. ### 1/5 — Update Ruined It *2026-05-30, version 3.0.15* After the app was updated it completed ruined it. My cart gets emptied 3-4 times right before I’m about to checkout every single time. It’s frustrating having to search and find all these products again, and what if I accidentally miss something since i’ve done it 4 times already. The recent update is in every way a downgrade, and often the app is completely broken and I can place an order. I Putin my email and it says I need to make an account when I try it says I already have an account. I put in my cell phone and it says I already have an account with that number. That’s incredibly helpful. Today, without any app update, I opened the app and was suddenly required to create an account just to browse products. I can no longer view item locations without logging in. No other grocery store app I use requires an account just to browse. This change makes it much less convenient, especially for people who aren’t very tech-savvy. It also prevents me from quickly checking items before I head to the store. I love many of the app’s features, but I’m also running into frustrating bugs, such as: - Being logged out of my account unexpectedly - The store location resetting or changing on its own These issues waste a lot of time, which is especially difficult when I’m trying to shop quickly.
