## What is Stay Human?

The machine won the last ten years. It's not getting the next ten.

Stay Human gives you one card a day with one thing to do away from your phone. Most of them take a few minutes.

A few cards from the free deck:
Call the friend you laugh hardest with. Today. Not Sunday.
Go outside for nine minutes. No phone.
Hug someone for ten full seconds. Count silently.
Catch today's sunset with your own eyes.
Sit and do nothing for five minutes. That's it. That's the card.

The card arrives sealed. You can see its suit and how long it takes, but you only find out what it asks when you hold it and turn it over. Once you've done it, hold again to mark it done and Done. is written across the card in its colour. Each day's card sits on a small pile of the ones you've already done, in the order you did them.

If you want, share a card you've done and dare a friend to do it before midnight. They don't need the app to take the dare, and the link shows your first name if you've added one.

Your run counts the days in a row. Every seventh card you do saves a quiet day, up to two, so missing a day doesn't end it. The order of your cards is drawn for you alone and gets reshuffled once you've been through them all. The library fills in as you go, sorted into five suits: Love, Body, Mind, Hands and Rebellion. Do eight cards in one suit and its number turns that suit's colour.

There are widgets for the home and lock screen with today's card, today's task and your run. If you turn notifications on, you get one a day, at a random time inside the hours you pick.

The first deck is free: twenty six cards, reshuffled each time you finish it. Six more decks can be bought once: Lovers, Entrepreneur, Friends & Social, Parents, Creative and Heartbreak, each with one rare card that shines in foil. There's no subscription. The Whole Deck gets you every deck, the twenty six lost cards from the starter deck and every future drop.

There's no feed to scroll and no ads, and you don't need an account.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.2.1 — 2026-10-05

A new widget, The Line. One line a day on your home screen or lock screen, the same one the app shows under the button. It never gives the card away.

On The Streak widget, bars with equal counts no longer sit in rainbow order.

### 1.2 — 2026-10-01

A new look. Every card has a strip at its foot: grey while it is sealed, the suit's colour once you have done it. Today's card lies on the strips of the cards you already lived, in the order you lived them. Holding to mark a card done writes Done. on it in its colour.

Every deck wears its own weave, so a sealed card tells you where it came from. Rare cards shine in foil.

Widgets for the home and lock screen: today's card, today's task and your run.

Dare links carry your first name, and a friend can take the dare without the app.

### 1.0.5 — 2026-09-16

Turning the card over is a hold. The card pulls against its seal while you hold the button, the seal goes in one piece, and then the card turns. Letting go early closes it again. A drag across the card still turns it.

The milestone screen is gone. It used to open on the beat you had just read your card and were reaching for Share. The day it marked still counts: week one buys a day the run forgives, and Today says so in its own line.

### 1.0.4 — 2026-09-09

The card itself moves the way you move it now: drag it and it turns with your thumb, let go and it lands with the speed you gave it. Marking a card done is one press and one mark, and Share and dare is right there under it.

One more card a day for people who own a deck. After you stamp today's card, one card from your own decks waits below it: turn it over, hold to mark it done, share it if you like. It counts toward your suits, your rare cards and your time. Today's card, your run and your reminders work exactly as before.

If you own no decks, the same spot shows one sealed card from a deck you do not have, with its name and size. Tapping it opens the deck. Nothing else changes.

Also new since 1.0.3: the store's screenshots now show the full page card.

### 1.0.3 — 2026-09-06

The Today screen is rebuilt around the card. The card fills the screen, the type on it grows with it, and one action sits under it.

Sharing is a dare: one button sends the card with a three line dare, and the link opens a page written for the person who was dared.

Reminders ask for permission when you turn the card over, the late evening nudge is gone, and four cards that needed a printer, an instrument, a commute or a queue were swapped for cards you can do at home. The first card on a fresh install comes from a short hand you can finish in minutes.

Fixes: a crash when opening a pack or a card on a Mac, the card border seam at the corners, the bundle price line, the Buy button while prices load, and a stray comma in the widget.
