When checking out, it’s only valid after 4:00pm. So They suckered me to come in and spend $20 for lunch and no promised reward. The company is gross, the CEO is gross, the app is gross in policies, locations aren’t even 24 hours anymore, prices hiked up for no value return, all of it. The policy that you can’t use a gift card and split payment by paying for the rest of an order with a debit or credit card is just skeezy, it only serves to keep the company a few pennies when you can’t use the entire card amount of the card. It’s wildly pathetic and a gross business practice. Can’t even split payment in app OR IN STORE at all, so if you’re ordering for more than one person and want to split the payment…nope. They also randomly jacked up the prices significantly, so what is basically just a single patty low quality smash burger is now just under $5. The quality got worse, so what warrants the price hike? The only thing not awful about this company are the employees. At this point, I’d literally rather go to any other chain or use any other fast food app. ### 1/5 — Love Steak N Shake, bad app *2026-08-16, version 4.9.0* As an iOS user, I cannot make payments in the app. This has been going on for months. It errors out every payment method I try, and I am forced to pull up the website to reenter and place my order. Love Steak N Shake and everything they’re doing to improve their food quality and brand. Never go back - excelsior! But please, fix your app. ### 1/5 — Broken app - lots of issues *2026-07-15, version 4.9.0* The most important thing a business expects is for you to pay, but the devs don’t seem to care. Apple Pay is listed as an option but it has never worked. My banking apps notify that a charge goes through and then I get refunded because the app refuses to take my money. The same cards entered manually work fine. No doubt this company is losing business because you make it more difficult than you should to place an order. Want to place an order for the family? You can do that but it’s way more annoying than it should be. I add something to the cart and it gives me suggestions of other things to order instead of taking me back to the full menu. And don’t take too long or the app times out and won’t let you through to the order and then you have to add everything back to the cart again. Was this app designed by AI, devs under the influence, or just complete morons? Seriously though, this app is garbage. As far as I have experienced, steak N Shake has probably the worst food ordering app period. Leadership should be embarrassed that this is how the company is represented. Speaking of leadership, doubt they or marketing would ever see this app review, but if somehow they do, they need to drop the beef tallow marketing BS. I only recently learned that is somehow a political statement. People don’t buy their food because of a political statement, but they might NOT buy it. That seems like business/marketing 101 common sense. In summary, S&S needs to get their $h17 together.
