## What is StealthEdit?

StealthEdit is a secure-by-default text editor for iPhone and iPad. Every document is encrypted. Always.

- Native Files support – Open and save documents on your device, in iCloud Drive, or with compatible providers such as Dropbox.
- Encrypted before storage – Plaintext stays in memory while you edit; saved files use authenticated AES-256-GCM encryption with Argon2id password protection.
- Automatic saving – Edits save through Apple’s coordinated document system, including a final save request when the app moves to the background.
- Password-protected – Each document has its own password. Passwords cannot be recovered, so keep them somewhere safe.
- Markdown tools – Write with quick formatting controls and switch to a clean rendered preview.
- Built for iPhone and iPad – A focused editor on iPhone and a spacious editor-and-preview layout on iPad.

StealthEdit now detects changes made to an open document by another app or device, helping prevent accidental overwrites. Unedited documents refresh automatically. If both copies changed, you can reload the latest file or preserve your work as a separate copy. This release also improves reliability around cloud-synced files, file moves, and background saves.
