In GarageBand it’s simple and wonderful, but a complete mystery, at least to me, in LogicPro. Honestly, the sounds that can be produced with this, using the right DAW and a little jiggery-pokery makes it an essential purchase. Especially for non-guitar players who want to convincingly fake it to a level that most people could not tell the difference. When on sale it is a steal, when not it is still a great buy. Hopefully, Yonac will also see fit to make an electric guitar (preferably a Gibson) and an electric bass. ### 5/5 — A dream came true *2024-04-12* This app is the a hit, absolutely crazy! Endless fun. I am playing guitar an was curious about the sound, the behavior when playing the strings, the effects and on. And I can confirm, when you are closing your eyes and listening to the sound you are sure, playing a real steel guitar. This app is worth every cent. I had so far no problems with this app. No crash's, no strange behavior. Amazing Tone and Functionality *2022-12-26* This app is amazing. As a pedal steel player Bm myself, I was more than ready to point out every little thing that was wrong with this app, but with every minute I spent playing around with it, and every little tweak of the tone, adjustment of the pedals or crying slide of the bar, I found myself more and more impressed. This is an actual emulator of a steel guitar, not just some silly midi sample bending app. There are a few very minor things I'd like such as a being able to set the volume curve when articulating with vertical bar gestures, and the amount of angle you want to tilt to engage the pedals, but that really is nitpicking. All in a fantastic app and the only steel guitar app I've ever felt was created by someone who knew what they were doing! If I could give a 6th star I would. ### 5/5 — Please make Bluetooth *2022-12-13* Great sounds! A very decent app from the most worthy author, but Bluetooth does not work and this is very lacking when playing live, when the sound is directly output via a Bluetooth speaker with an amplifier. Please make Bluetooth work! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Does not work with current GarageBand *2026-05-22* Was super excited to start using this in GarageBand on iOS, but then it does not record what you do. I guess it’s for just playing in person because it does not record the performance. Very unfortunate right when I was starting to have fun I find it is actually completely useless. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work with g band *2025-12-12* Tired of these companies selling music apps that are buggy or don’t work at all in the obvious DAW’s fo which anyone would use them. Cool sounds and all but can’t use it as a plugin nor does it show up with inter app audio. Apple Store refuses to give me a refund. Merchant refuses to give me a refund. They really don’t care. Buyer beware. ### 1/5 — Just makes Clanking sounds in GarageBand *2025-02-14, version 1.1* After a number of glowing reviews on here, you think this thing works seamlessly with GarageBand, it doesn’t it just makes clanking sounds and not anything remotely resembling a guitar sound!! ### 1/5 — Had high hopes sounds are good just one killer problem *2024-07-23, version 1.1* App dose not record in and daw what a shame other than that it was going to be a good app but makes it useless ### 3/5 — Needs MIDI sustain (CC 64) *2025-08-01, version 1.1* Without MIDI sustain, this app is basically useless for keyboard players. With MIDI sustain, it is the best rock and blues guitar app on iOS. Please add sustain and expression (CC 11) and a way to map the bend pedals to midi commands or key notes. You are 90% of the way there, but it is a 100% failure without finishing the last few details. You are losing thousands of keyboard users by not implementing sustain. ### 3/5 — Vers nice tune, but crashes too much time *2024-03-13* Vers nice tune, but crashes too much time I would gave 6 stars, but I have to stick on 3 because of the crashes on my iPad. IOS 17.2 (iPad Pro) Just play and having fun with the App ### 3/5 — You guys GOTTA fix this! *2022-08-26* You CANNOT use the slider or strings when you use this inside a host..at least that’s true with Beatmaker3…this app gets a 5 star rating EASILY if that works…u have to use BM3 keyboard..so that means no sliding guitar..which is what this app does…I’m astounded that this is an issue that wasn’t addressed and fixed LONG AGO! ### 3/5 — Almost great *2022-06-28* Love the app, just one bug that really needs fixed. When I assign it to a channel in AUM, save the project, then open it later, the channel with Steel Guitar Pro won’t play. Sound is superb and a bargain at the price. Constructive criticism : The ability to edit the raw guitar tone would be a great asset - especially guitar vibrato lfo speed, currently it's much to fast to be usable. Apart from that it's a keeper! Edit: still fantastic but infuriating that it doesn't accept cc64 sustain! ### 5/5 — Love this app! One suggestion… *2025-03-06* This app sounds so good it’s hard to believe and is a blast to play. I play it mostly via MIDI keyboard and have one request of the developer: Any chance of adding sustain, expression and switch pedal capability to it? Would be so nice to have the sustain pedal hold released keys and allow only the pressed keys to be affected by the pitch wheel (with an option to have all notes sustain and affected by the pitch wheel whether they keys are pressed or not). ### 5/5 — The premiere guitar simulator for iPadOS/iOS *2025-02-07* You won’t believe how good this app sounds and be sure to buy the in-app purchase, giving the full range of effects and pedals. One request for Yonac: PLEASE bring either a standalone player (with MIDI editing capability) or the full app to macOS desktop. This is the final step to ensure total cross-platform compatibility. Thanks for such a great piece of software. ### 5/5 — Great learning tool *2024-12-25* Not a bad performance instrument either. I’ve had all app versions since day one, but just recently got my first physical lap steel. Still working my technique, but this app has already taught me the basic tuning options so I’m progressing quickly. Still come back to this app to try different instruments, effects and amps to help decide what physical accessories to pursue next. It’s great fun to secretly plug this into my keyboard rig and drop in some sweet slides every now and then with the band. Never fails to amaze me with the reactions from the crowd. I’m a keyboard player and and think is fantastic even comparing it with much more exprés VSTs like Steel Pedal and Ample Sound’s Lap Steel and Ink Audio which are awesome but expensive and sometimes difficult to play with the many articulations included. This app is awesome, to the point and easy to play. My only wish would be that when we are using it with a MIDI keyboard we could still use the slider. I know we can use the porch wheel but it would be nice to be able to control the slides with the slide bar while playing the MIDI Keyboard.
