As I've been reducing digital noise in my life, I couldn't find a step tracker that aligned with my values. So I built one for myself.
It's the digital minimalist's step counter:

I'm always looking for minimalist apps, I love this one so much, I wish I could see the steps on my apple watch so I can fully delete my other step counter. But I'm using this on my phone

One issue I found is that the steps on the widget don't update so I have to open the app for the steps to update on the widget, this defeates the purpose of the widget
