## What is Stepbound?

Your steps are the currency. The canyon is the story.

Stepbound is a choose-your-own-adventure game set in the Grand Canyon of 1892 and it runs on your real daily steps.

You play as an explorer dispatched by the Society of Explorers to map uncharted passages deep inside one of the world's great geological wonders. Every decision you make costs steps drawn from your actual walking. Rest more, explore less. Walk more, go further. Your body and your choices shape the story together.

How it works: each day, your phone step count is converted into banked steps. Spend them on story choices: descend the Bright Angel Trail, investigate a mysterious fissure in the rimrock, shelter in a cave, or push on to the river. The further and more demanding the path, the more steps it costs. The canyon rewards those who keep moving.

What you'll find inside the canyon is a branching narrative told across dozens of richly illustrated scenes.  Random encounters: scorpion stings, rattlesnakes, flash floods, and hidden oases with Items to discover.and carry, 

Multiple distinct endings and achievements tracking your progress as a canyon explorer with a map showing every path you've walked and every branch yet to discover.

Stepbound is designed for people who want their daily movement to mean something beyond a closing ring. The story is written to be replayed with different passages, different fates, and ultimately the best endings reserved for the explorer who sees everything the canyon has to offer.
