Las cinco estrellas son para SNAP que funciona perfectamente. ### 2/5 — Limited *2018-08-14* Pretty limited in practice, developer doesn’t respond to email... confused why this app got rave reviews. ### 2/5 — Meh *2018-05-24* Good connectivity with other apps/devices and the interface is nice. The sequencer boasts of complexity but it really isn't complex at all. No randomised ordering, polyrhythmic possibilities, multiple sequences, or measures longers than 8 notes, this is really limiting and disappointing to be honest. I expected more from a paid app. ### 2/5 — Only 8 steps...? *2018-03-24* Need more than 8 steps to create a track... ### 2/5 — Is that all? *2017-05-20* Quite a disappointment. After the glowing review in CDM, I was expecting so much more. But this is basically an eight(!) step monophonic sequencer with a gratuitously confusing UI. I've used plenty of other music software, and I've read the online "manual" for this, so I'm pretty sure I'm not missing the point completely. And I've tried the presets, which are all useless: either simple rhythms on one note, or simple scales. If this app is useful for anything interesting, as Peter Kirn sure seems to think it is, then the secret must be buried in some hidden setting I couldn't discover. ### 2/5 — Pretty weak... *2017-04-25* One star for app because you can't leave zero stars. One star for unique concept. Can't turn off outbound midi. Switches are there but they reset. No way to set scale. No velocity per step. Should be free. Even .99 is too much for this. At „16“ Steps and some little modifications there are full stars. ### 4/5 — Great app, just one bug *2022-06-29* I think this app is great and it will do just what I need it to which is sending some midi notes over Bluetooth midi to control a DMX lighting controller from my iPad. But I seem unable to send a midi note of C-2, no matter what I do. In my DMX controller midi note 0 corresponds to note C-2. I can send C#-2 but when I pull the octave slider all the way down and pull the note for any of the 8 steps all the way down it will note send the C-2 note. Bump them up one note and they send C#-2. I can work around that but would be nice for that to work. Thanks! ### 4/5 — Simple, Novel Sequencer *2020-02-25* The thing I wish I had known before I bought it: Steps is a single, 8-note sequencer. Each note can repeat up to 8 times, but that’s not the same thing as a 64-note sequencer. That said, it’s nice UI putting together a melodic line on a phone. The dials make an interesting, if not particularly earth-shattering, sequencer interface. Build is solid, got it working with Animoog on Audiobus in just a few minutes. ## Most praised reviews (8 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Powerful and Intuitive *2018-11-27* This Midi Sequencer can do some pretty cool things and has a great user interface. Their other app SNAP takes this app as a basis and makes a more streamlined version of a sequencer but this can make some very experimental sounds. The compatibility to sync with TE Pocket Operators or other hardware that uses a sync track is a really neat feature too. I’m very surprised this is 100% free with no in app-purchases or adds of any kind. You would be missing out big time if you don’t at least give this or SNAP a try. Please allow STEPS to customize the color interface as you can in SNAP. I remember emailing you a long time ago asking for said color change feature in STEPS but you you’d “leave it as green for now...” and then I see the feature in SNAP so now I feel like your teasing me haha. Otherwise I think the two apps are among the best in the App Store. A great minimal approach to UX/UI design that should win an award in my opinion. **Developer response:** Wow, this is the kind of review that one hopes for when developing musical apps. And if you liked STEPS maybe have a look at ROTOR. ### 5/5 — Another Amazing Product! *2018-06-02* This with the SNAP drum app seem to represent a new direction for apps....performance! How many piano rolls does a person need? This is no piano roll or old school sequencer. How nice would it be to rework whole sequences with a swipe of finger? Intuitive to the point of a primal connection with the tactile sensation and music alterations. Love this app like all this company's app. Suggestions: MIDI channel and cc control options and maybe add another whole sequences to have like 4 pages of steps - 1 each color and control more than 1 app, chord creations, or act as an LFO with cc control. Great app, user error may happen. **Developer response:** Hello Liam: Sorry for the misconception but STEPS is a MIDI sequencer that sends notes to other apps or devices that produce the sound. The pulse sound you hear when "Send External Hardware Sync" is selected is intended as a clock signal to other hardware Synthesizers to stay at the same BPM. In the video https://youtu.be/cIXweM6zEzw you can see we are using it next to the pocket operators so that their clocks go at the same time. The notes themselves are generated with the Korg Volca Sample via the MIDI cable. Sorry for the confusion, we tried to be very explicit about this but will keep working to communicate it better. If this information helped please reconsider changing or removing the review and we will make our communications on the functionality more evident. I wish it were universal, since using the pitch graphic is not very accurater on iphone 5. Also would be great to change the sequence length. ### 4/5 — Very useful concept, still minor bugs *2017-04-26* I very much like the layout of the sequencer, MIDI out works perfectly. Some minor issues I have encountered: 1/ space bar does nothing when using it while entering custom preset names 2/ transpose ribbon a little to fiddly and difficult to operate at half-tone step with a finger 3/ Preset names have a rather shot character limit (12?)
