Currently you have to go back to the list of groups and back into the app to refresh ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work *2026-08-02* Trying to add expenses is painful. App keeps loading and not clear whether or not an expense is added. There are constant server errors. Find another app and safe yourself some time ### 1/5 — Bad and getting worse *2026-03-29* This app’s backend often goes down leaving you unable to add expenses or do anything. Now, after the first update in 11 months, it’s even more buggy. The text disappears from the expense title and the split prices text boxes also appear blank. Der Worst Case. ### 1/5 — Couldn’t add contacts *2018-10-25* The app refuses to let you add contacts manually. There’s an option to add people manually, but they give you a run-around about how much of a pain it will be to add contacts one by one. If you select the option to continue manually anyway, it just stops working. Had to delete it before I even had a chance to use it because I didn’t want to upload my thousands of contacts to some random app. Update: A response from Steven says that I have the option to add contacts manually. As I previously stated, THE APP STOPS WORKING WHEN YOU OPT TO ADD CONTACTS MANUALLY. 2nd Update: STEVEN- JUST FOR CLARITY, I AM SAYING THAT THERE IS A GLITCH IN THE APP THAT PREVENTS YOU FROM ADDING CONTACTS MANUALLY. **Developer response:** Hi! Just to clarity again, just because an app ask to get access to your contacts does not mean it uploads them to any servers. We do NOT upload your contacts at all. This is just how iOS is built and to be able to access your phone book we need to ask for that permission. If you do not want that you are free to add phone numbers manually. ### 2/5 — Plötzlich kostenpflichtig *2022-08-21* Um die App weiter nutzen zu können, musste ich Updaten. Nun musste ich 4,49€ für die Nutzung der notwendigsten Funktionen zahlen. Schade. **Developer response:** We've been offering our services for free for a couple of years, and of course, it would have been great if we could have continued to do so in the future. However, we won't survive that way, and we're proud of the service we offer and think it's well worth the YEARLY cost of €5 if you're an active user. Our limit of three expenses for free makes it possible to add everyone in the group and they won't have to pay to join. As an active user, though, we think it's reasonable to pay for the services. /Team Steven ### 2/5 — Updated and still not working! *2020-05-21* Freezing/ crashing, can’t look at the expenses logged or add another one. Been using it with my bf throughout lockdown and it was great until it stopped working a few weeks ago. Need to be able to check over the expenses we added and add new ones and can’t.. it’s really frustrating **Developer response:** I’m sorry to hear that you are having trouble with the app. Please contact support inside the app and we will help you. ### 3/5 — Medium decent *2024-06-26* Usually pretty ok for adding expenses, if slower and requiring more interactions than Splitwise. But my biggest gripe though is that, upon entering the United States, nothing loads at all. I’ve managed to get one expense in but the rest give me a URLSessionTask error and it won’t load my balance, groups, or anything. Pls fix. ### 3/5 — Super App aber kostet seit neuestem *2022-08-21* Fand die App eigtl total gut aber leider kostet sie seit neuestem deswegen werde ich auf eine andere umsteigen **Developer response:** Sorry to see you go! We would have loved to keep offering our app for free but unfortunately not even app development comes for free. With over 200 000 user we need to make this change to be able to maintain and further develop the Steven app. We are very proud of our app and think it's a top player in the market and that 5€ a year to have unlimited expenses is a very reasonable price. But needs an iPad version as well! Specially with a larger group and more expenses being added. ### 5/5 — Great app to split trip expenses! *2023-06-03* Two of us are going on a road trip that will have many stops, and a rental vehicle. Great app to tally all the expenses and be able to square up at the end of the trip. Easy to use and add expenses, and includes tips on how to make the spending fair over the span of a trip. ### 5/5 — Good support and beautiful app *2023-04-28* Unlike many other feature blotted apps (trying to sell you investment, loan, credit card etc.) steven is minimal and to the point app I found on the app store. Trust me I have installed all alternatives and settled at Steven. I did face challenges at the start as my transaction from specific account wasn’t visible. Design überzeugt und auch alle wichtigen Funktionen sind dabei. Als einziges ist mir aufgefallen, dass bisher keine Statistiken in der App enthalten sind. Weder Gruppen-spezifisch noch insgesamt. Das wäre in meinen Augen eine wichtige Erweiterung. Und: Für eine schöne App zahle ich gerne Geld, da es sich aber um eine App handelt, die man nur gelegentlich nutzt, ist ausschließlich ein Abo-Modell schwierig. Einmalig für z.B. 30€ würde ich sofort zuschlagen, bei der aktuellen Preispolitik muss ich aber passen. Trotzdem weiter so, und wenn meine Vorschläge umgesetzt werden, würde ich mich freuen. ### 5/5 — Zettelwirtschaft adé!!!!! Perfekte App zur Überwachung von Zahlungen *2020-09-02* Diese App ist einfach klasse und lässt sämtliche Excel-Tabellen, die zuvor angelegt wurden alt aussehen. Perfekt zur Nachverfolgung aller Zahlungen die geleistet wurden. Verwendet wurde sie im Sommerurlaub mit Freunden, in der alle Zahlungen protokolliert wurden. Die App ist dabei super Transparenz und nebenbei sehr anwenderfreundlich und durchdacht mit unzähligen Funktionen. Einzig die Registrierung mit dem Code war bei manchen Anwender etwas problematisch. Dennoch absolut empfehlenswert. ### 5/5 — Muy buena pero se hechan en falta cosas *2020-03-04, version 2.7.2* Muy buena, intuitiva y bonita, y aun por encima gratis, que mas se le puede pedir.
