Large buttons, simple interface, easy navigation, customizable colors… It was as close to perfect as any of the thousands of apps I’ve tested and/or use daily. The May 2026 “fully redesigned” app just erased all that. It’s now just like every other app, including Apple Music, which means there’s no reason to keep it. I will never understand the logic behind decisions like this. Somewhere there’s a list of great iOS apps that were ruined by redesigns that literally zero users asked for. And Stezza just joined it. ### 2/5 — Fewer options than Apple’s Music app *2023-05-09* I am desperately looking for an app that allows me to quickly and easily and safely move through my very large and diverse (10,000+) music library via CarPlay. I have yet to find an app capable of doing this, and picking this app was a wild stab, based on a Cult of Mac review, but I’m afraid I wasted my $2.99. To boot this app does not have all of the sorting/filing the options that Apple‘s built-in music player app does (as basic as they are in that app). Further, there are some. On-intuitive UI features, e.g., navigating to library options. It’s not clear whom this app is geared toward, but I know that I am a bit of an rarity who does not do streaming and has all his (uncompressed) music on his phone. :-). What I’d really like is something like a Pandora for my own library! ### 1/5 — Crap. Does not work wasted $3 *2020-06-20, version 2.9.1* What’s to say. App loaded fine, I can see my music and playlist audiobooks, but after 2 weeks farting around nothing. ### 3/5 — Отдельный эквалайзер! *2020-03-05* В целом плейер нормальный. Но! Использует системный эквалайзер, из-за чего для меня теряется весь смысл в программе. У меня настройки эквалайзера, которые я использую в машине и в наушниках разные, и переключать каждый раз это в системных настройках было неудобно. Купил эту программу в надежде, что она ХОТЯБЫ не будет использовать системные настройки, но нет... Please add an equalizer! Do NOT buy this software. It does NOT work. ### 4/5 — Album art showing up now *2019-08-24* Album art wasn’t showing up, I think the issue was if stock music app was open it for some reason does not allow the album art file to be accessed in Stezza. My only beef now is that unless I’m blind, I cannot find a search function, which is horrible when you have hundreds of artists and over 8000 tracks. Help me lol. ### 1/5 — You can’t select folders to use as libraries *2019-08-05* I was under the impression that this was a media player that allowed the user to play music from files on the device, but it is not. Let me know if there is something in particular you would like fixed (except restoring the old UI haha) ### 1/5 — Was great, but no longer *2026-05-27* Best music player app for a dozen years, then ruined with a rewritten interface. **Developer response:** Thanks for your review. Sorry to hear you don’t like the new version. I put lots of effort into making what I thought was a fresh modern player. I guess it’s getting a Luce style reception. If you have any questions for suggestions don’t hesitate to contact me personally via the support item in the settings menu. ### 1/5 — Good bye Stezza *2026-05-26* Unbelievable what they’ve done to this app, it is unstable, unreliable, and frankly useless compared to what it once was. The developers have completely lost sight of what made Stezza special in the first place. Instead of building on its unique strengths, they’ve stripped it down into just another generic media player, one that doesn’t even do that job well. Crashes, bugs, and poor performance have replaced what used to be a smooth and distinctive experience. The only real hope for this app is rollback to an earlier version, or a serious commitment from the developers to recapture what originally made it worth downloading. Until then, I can no longer recommend it. **Developer response:** I appreciate your passion. Cheers, Ricardo. ### 1/5 — Despite several updates, still does not work. *2026-05-13* What was the only player I used has been destroyed. It works in my iPhone but not in my iPad. In iPad it just loads and does nothing, no matter what you tap on. Issues with the new version include: Cluttered — not easy to find what you’re looking for. Car play mode — not needed if you have Apple car play. Shuffle — You used to be able start a song from your playlist then hit shuffle and the song continued, with subsequent songs random. Now if you do that, when you hit shuffle it immediately goes to another song. Further, there is no indicator that shows whether you are in shuffle mode. Since I don’t stream music, there is no benefit whatsoever that I can tell for the new version. I would love it if they would re release the old version as Stezza Classic and allow those of us who preferred it to download it and use it. **Developer response:** Hi thanks for your review, there are some teething issues with the new release, stay tuned for some updates. Ricardo ### 1/5 — Useless now for car *2026-05-12* Unbelievable what they did to this app, it is useless now. I cannot use it anymore for the car, workart is not shown anymore. Don’t even bother to waste time. Better download and install Flacbox that’s gem and awesome app. Everything else is just drop in dustbin quality. Yea. System is garbage that’s why we are looking for some really excellent player out here and yours is not good enough when it comes to sound output. Stezza uses the system music player so it’s the same quality as Music. ### 1/5 — Disappointing *2021-09-25* I can't believe I paid money for this. The only screen that shows up is the one showing the currently playing song and on it I can only move on to another random song. I can't see all my albums like the picture shown on the app's purchase page. There is a set of 4 tiles squares.... maybe this is supposed to take me to my albums???? It just keeps changing the theme. Very simple interface, with big buttons, and album art prominently featured, allow him to independently find and play his favorite music, while preventing unfettered access to all of Apple Music. Large album artwork and controls that are perfect for driving, exercising etc. The artwork can take a minute to load initially but once it's in the players cache it's like magic. One trick is to go back one song for a song that doesn't load artwork. I can't wait for future updates.
