I love that the Jot notes are visible on the home screen via widget. However, the sync between iPad and iPhone is not great - you can “import” and “export” the notes between the devices but they do not get updated live (e.g. if I edit a Jot note on my iPad, these changes are not automatically reflected on the Jot note on my iPhone. The app now functions as a widget and I’m at long last good with my purchase. As for restoring .json backups I’m unsure since they didn’t work before and I don’t want to try again only to have it trash what I have now working. I’d only use the backup in the event of a catastrophic failure since it made things even worse than they already were. ### 4/5 — I like it but could be better! *2024-06-06, version 3.8.2* WHAT I LIKE 1. that you can draw and or type 2. That you can adjust size of font with slider 3. Upload background image 4. Lots of fonts 5. Easily select colors for text or background with eye dropper or sliders, etc. WHAT I DON’T LIKE (please implement these changes) 1. Can’t turn a line into a checkbox/list 2. Can’t highlight a word and make it bold or bigger, it does that to the whole note not just what is selected… wish you could manually. 4. Same as above but with font size, wish I could highlight a word or multiple and choose to make it bigger if I wanted to and not have it do it to the whole note. 5. Thought I upgraded means I could sync ### 5/5 — Amazing Sticky Note Widget *2024-02-07, version 3.6.0* This is the one and the only sticky note widget that I can write text or finger draw on my selected photos and display them on my iPhone homescreen, and can even stack them up on a widget. I added the app to my widgets and the text never showed up. Every time I clicked on something that looked like it might update the widget, it told me I had to buy pro. I restarted the phone, and the app, ??? I don’t have time to dig through a bunch of unrelated info to find out what’s going on, and I’m not buying anything until I find out that it works the way I want to. Very disappointing. ### 1/5 — Unreliable - Randomly deletes your notes *2024-03-28, version 3.6.0* If you’re looking for a reliable sticky note app, look elsewhere. I’ve been trying to use Jot for a little under a year now and it’s great with the exception of one fatal bug that makes the entire app redundant. There is a bug that will randomly overwrite an existing note with a duplication of another existing note. Effectively permanently deleting the original note forever. This happens completely at random and cannot be predicted, prevented or undone. This app has one single purpose, and if it can’t fulfil that one single purpose reliably then it becomes completely useless. ### 1/5 — Can’t leave review thanks to developer *2023-12-02* Despite an honest review and it’s removal, this app improved resulting so my sincere thanks goes out to those who helped make this happen. The app for the time being functions as intended and as a widget so I’m at long last happy with my purchase for this reason. I thought the addition of ability to use photos would make a difference but it didn’t. Can’t load saved .json files and corrupts them on import, miserable to use and as a paid app this is unacceptable. I’ve struggled enough. The dev seems like a nice guy but needs to keep up with apps when there are OS updates because this one breaks easily. I’m sorry the dev is crushed by an honest review but if they had spent as much time working on fixing this app as they have defending it against reality it would be working beautifully! Instead of denying issues they should want to find out what went wrong as it failed to function on three iPads including the most recent iPad Air 11 running v16.6. Keep blaming Apple widgets if you like, all my other widgets work with exception of Wyze which also could us work on refreshing. Be that as it may, several lengthy bouts with this program later I decided not to allow it to consume so much of my time. It’s supposed to save time and it should not be difficult for a simple note app to function. There is a similar free working app to use, and fortunately Apple Quick Notes fills in the gaps. I didn’t request a refund as you imply and figured as a ‘indie’ dev you needed it more. Flinging this minor purchase into my face sounds entitled and rude for what was my good will as a paying customer. Now, since your into giving advice, here’s some in return. Never get into retail sales until this attitude improves because as I said you ‘seemed like a nice guy’ then proved I was mistaken. Learn to accept imperfection, then strive for improvement. I ask you humbly not to this to other indie developers ### 2/5 — You changed my favourite feature :( *2026-06-17, version 4.2.1* I love this app, however, with the new update you use to be able to have an image s the background AND a back ground colour ( I hushed a transparent png over your apps coloured background and that ability has been taken away with the new update. So not I can’t up the opacity of the background colour so I can write on my templates I made for the app on procreate. If that is still an option I cannot find it anywhere.
