## What is Still?

Still stops videos and audio that websites start on their own. Nothing plays until you tap play.

Open a news article and a video starts in the corner. Open a recipe and an ad starts talking. Scroll a little and a player follows you down the page. Still puts an end to all of it, on every website, without breaking the videos you actually want to watch.

HOW IT BEHAVES
• Every video and sound that starts by itself is stopped — on page load, after a delay, when you scroll, or inside an embedded player
• Anything you start yourself plays immediately: a tap on the video, on its play button, or on a thumbnail that opens it
• A tap somewhere else on the page does not wake a player Still has already stopped — dismissing a cookie banner is not asking for a video
• A silent video allowed to play cannot turn its own sound on later
• Videos without controls get a small Play chip, so you can always start them

SILENT VIDEOS, YOUR CALL
• Stop: every video waits, even silent ones
• Allow GIFs: short silent loops keep playing, the way animated GIFs would — the default
• Allow: only video and audio with sound is stopped

ALSO
• Allow autoplay on the sites where you want it — a music player, a live stream — with one switch
• Save data: stopped videos are asked not to keep downloading in the background
• A running count of everything Still has stopped
• English, Italian, Spanish, French and German

HOW IT WORKS
When a page tries to start a video by itself, Still answers the way Safari's own autoplay rules do. Video players are already built to handle that answer, so they simply show their play button instead of breaking.

PRIVACY
No servers. No accounts. No analytics. Still never looks at what a video is, only that it tried to start. Nothing leaves your device.

Still is a Safari extension, so after installing you enable it in Settings, Apps, Safari, Extensions. The app walks you through it.
