I took one star off for lack of continuity. The iPad version lacks the features contained in iMac version. ### 3/5 — Very difficult to use *2026-03-28, version 3.7.0* The old version was easy to use, but since the made the changes some years ago I find this almost impossible to use ### 2/5 — No free trial $20 to try app pretty much *2025-12-18* So I downloaded stitch buddy and I can’t practice with the design that they offer to see if I like the app because it’s over 1,000 stitches. I don’t know where to go to try a free trial because I’m not spending $20 for an app before I can even try it out. I am new to embroidery and have been looking for a app to resize my files as I can only do 4x4 designs but I think you should be able to test the app out before you pay $20 for it. **Developer response:** Try the app either with any of your own designs with less then 1,000 stitches or delete parts of the sample file to make it smaller. It's not easy to find a balance between some meaningful trial version, and encouraging people to pay for a software - especially as this is no subscription, but a lifetime license. ### 2/5 — Basic *2025-03-21, version 3.4.4* This application needs help! No option to save file in desired format to jump drive. ### 3/5 — Not what i expected *2024-11-03* My review seemed to to have disappeared which is weird. The problem I have is the way the app shows all of the files in your phone. The developer assured me that they aren’t being uploaded, just available on my device only. That’s comforting but it would be nice to not have every file I have in my phone show up on the app- be more selective about it. Plus apparently this isn’t an app that you can make designs with so if that’s what you have in mind I don’t think that works. I gave 3 stars because the developer actually responded. **Developer response:** No idea what happened to your review … and my former response, that‘s weird. StitchBuddy uses the same document browser as other apps, giving you a way to navigate through all storage locations (including cloud storage) and open designs from there. The time when apps were restricted to their „container“ are clearly gone, and maybe the most recent video tutorial at StitchBuddy‘s website helps to benefit from the new file management capabilities. ### 2/5 — Used to be great *2024-06-19, version 3.3.3* Now it’s almost useless. Bring back the gallery view, and let me convert files like you used to. Every time I try to edit I get an error message. Essentially nothing is simple, and there’s no way to figure out how to do the things that used to be intuitive. I wrote the developer and he responded promptly. That was HUGE. I love being able to view, edit and play with my designs on my IPad. I have files that it will work with, but I also have files that this program will not open due to the creator putting in the size that reads 550inches. Way too big. Must be a typo but I have 2 files written this way. 😟 A better alternative is Embrilliance Essentials. Very intuitive and works with ALL my files just fine. It cost more, but it is sure worth it! **Developer response:** You‘re reviewing an iOS app based on experiences with a macOS program - and you are recommending a macOS app … strange. Also when I upload a file, it completely changes the file once added. What a disappointment!!! **Developer response:** While StitchBuddy HD's core functionality wasn't changed, file management capabilities and some menus were updated with version 3.3. Actually, this release is introducing significat improvements, but I agree: It comes with some new look & feel for existing customers. You might want to watch the most recent video tutorial "File Management" at StitchBuddy's website, there I'm showing the changes and new capabilities. Or contact me directly with specific questions... ### 1/5 — can only edit existing designs *2024-05-03, version 3.3.0* it isn’t obviously stated in the App Store that this app doesn’t actually let you make files from scratch. it only allows you to edit files, resize, change colors, etc. This is useless to me as my laptop stopped working and that has actual software that can digitize, but the ipad has no apps available to do that yet. ### 1/5 — Terrible *2024-02-16, version 3.2.5* Absolutely terrible. Ich möchte mir diese App gerne für mein neues IPad kaufen, da ich viel gutes über Stichbuddy für Applenutzer gehört habe. Wie kann ich hier Dateien vom Stick in die App laden? Und wie die bearbeiteten Stickdateien zurück auf den USB-Stick? Wenn ich das könnte, wäre mir sehr geholfen. **Developer response:** Wenn Du den USB-Stick (evt. per Adapter) mit Deinem iPad verbindest, erscheint er als Speicherort auf der Übersichtsseite des Datei-Browsers von StitchBuddy. Dort kannst Du Dateien bearbeiten, kopieren, verschieben. Ich zeige das auch im aktuellsten Video von StitchBuddy HD ("File Management") und Du kannst Fragen gerne per Mail stellen: Das geht besser als über App-Rezensionen - danke für diese ☺️ ### 5/5 — Brilliant! *2024-08-14, version 3.3.3* Just started machine embroidery and this app is marvellous for those little tweaks like resizing and changing the hoop needed. Takes a bit to get used to commands but it’s very good once you get them sorted! ### 5/5 — Eine tolle App! *2024-06-09* Gekaufte Stickdateien zu ändern ging bisher nur sehr schwierig bis gar nicht. Da erschien mir StitchBuddy endlich Abhilfe zu schaffen. Doch leider klappte es anfangs überhaupt nicht, weil mir der Icon für die Zwischenablage fehlte. Natürlich dachte ich zuerst das läge an mir und meinem alten IPad und „fraß“ mich durch das Forum und die StitchBuddy-Hilfe. Schließlich schrieb ich eine Mail an den Support und bekam von Matthias ganz schnell eine Antwort, und kurz darauf war der Fehler gefunden. Ein Bug in der IPadOS 15 hielt den Icon im Versteck ;-) Ein Update sorgte dann dafür, dass ich nun diese tolle App voll umfänglich verwenden kann!
