## What is Stitchkeep?

Put the highlighter down. Stitchkeep turns a photo of your paper chart into a grid you mark off stitch by stitch, so every session picks up exactly where the last one ended.

HOW A CHART COMES IN
Photograph the chart and Stitchkeep looks for the grid lines in the picture, snaps a grid over them and groups matching symbols. If the print is faint or the shot is skewed and the grid can't be found with confidence, type the stitch count from the chart's edge and drag four corner handles onto the chart's corners. A chart set up that way behaves identically: same marking, same progress, same undo, same resume. If you already know the count, the manual route is often quicker. Existing photos and pages from purchased PDF charts come in the same way.

MARKING OFF
Tap a finished stitch, or sweep across a row, and it fills with a translucent tint. The symbol underneath stays legible, a light haptic tick confirms each stitch, and the progress figure moves right away. Erase a slip with the eraser or step back with undo. Full stitches are marked off, half stitches get their own mark, and you can flag squares where a threaded needle is waiting for the next pass. Leave and come back later: the last chart, your zoom, your position and your chosen symbol are all still there.

ONE SYMBOL AT A TIME
Threaded up with a single color? Switch on Show One Symbol. Only that symbol's squares stay bright while the rest fade back, with a count of what remains and a finish estimate for that symbol alone.

A FINISH DATE THAT STAYS HONEST
Stitchkeep looks at how many of the last 14 days you stitched and how much you typically get done per sitting, then gives a date range rather than a single day. Nothing is predicted until at least two days of marking exist, and there is never a nudge about falling behind. Thread numbers are never requested either; your printed key already covers that.

YOUR LIBRARY AND WIDGETS
Works in progress sit side by side as cards with a thumbnail progress map, a percentage and the date you last stitched. Finished pieces are set apart as complete. Two practice charts drawn in-house are included, so you can try marking before your own chart is in hand. Put a widget on your Home Screen and the chart you are working on reports its percent and stitches left there; the medium size adds today's count and the estimated finish.

WHAT IT COVERS
Counted cross stitch on a square grid. Backstitch, quarter and three-quarter stitches, French knots and beads have no square to fill, so keep the printed chart alongside for those details.

EVERYTHING STAYS ON YOUR PHONE
Chart photos and your marked squares live only in local storage. There is no account to create, grid and symbol detection run entirely on the device, and photos are never uploaded. The one way a chart leaves your phone is a backup file you make yourself for restoring onto a new phone. Deleting all data from Settings returns the app to a fresh install. Sharing or publishing charts is deliberately absent: this is a tool for working the charts you bought from designers.

FREE, WITH AN OPTIONAL LIFETIME UPGRADE
Capture, manual setup, marking, undo, backup and restore, finish estimates and widgets are free, with no ads and no subscription. Up to three charts can be in progress at once at no cost. For large pieces that run for months, Stitchkeep Pro is a single one-time purchase handled by the App Store. It unlocks Color Mode (enter a thread number per symbol and squares show the real floss color), a row helper that keeps symbol order and waiting threads straight line by line, stitching multi-page PDFs into one chart, floss inventory with a shopping list, day-by-day statistics and unlimited charts.

On iPad and in landscape the chart spreads wide while symbols and progress move to a side panel. Dark mode is built in for evening sessions, fill opacity is adjustable, VoiceOver can move through rows to mark or clear stitches, and Larger Text and Reduce Motion are respected.
