### 4/5 — Battery Vampire

*2026-08-08*

Super fun concept but uses so much battery in the background! Didn’t wanna dock it too much bc I know that’s lowkey unavoidable given the nature of the app

### 5/5 — love this app

*2026-06-12*

a lot of fun

### 5/5 — Great Game

*2026-06-11*

Really cool concept for a game! My only wish was to share my map with friends and it seems like it just released in the update. Can’t wait to see what else releases.

### 4/5 — love the concept! looking forward to updates

*2026-06-09*

this is a really fun concept, i’m glad i found it so soon after launch. however, it’s been tracking all movement including car/train travel even though the app says it only tracks foot travel. would be nice to have automatic speed detection instead of having to turn my location on and off anytime i get in a vehicle. overall excited to see where it goes!

**Developer response:** Hey! We're working on this functionality right now, and we'll be sure to release an update for it soon. Thanks a bunch for sending this feedback our way!

### 5/5 — Great app, hoping for more stats in the future

*2026-06-08*

I love this app so far and I’m using it to keep track of where I’ve been in NYC. The thing that would really make me stick with the app though would be more stats- it’s cool being able to see how many tiles you have so far in a neighborhood but additional stats like number of tiles per day (both new and total), number of visits per neighborhood, and the ability to see a “replay” of your tiles stomped over a day/week/etc would be awesome. And the ability to see the dates of all visits to a tile, not just the first! I love data and features like this would make the app worth continuing to use even when going somewhere I’ve been before.
Oh, and more colors please? There are neighborhoods right next to each other marked in the same color

### 4/5 — Love the UI

*2026-06-08*

The app is good. But if I turn on always allow location, the location mark is always showing on my Island on top. Also it drains battery very fast.

### 5/5 — great potential

*2026-06-08*

love the app, just needs to
improve background tracking (doesn’t always track unless i’ve opened the app recently) and maybe the friends layout

**Developer response:** So glad to hear you're having fun with Stomped! Keep the app updated, as we've got a redesign to the friends layout and some background tracking improvements coming shortly!

### 5/5 — Fun new app. I hope it gets some new updates!

*2026-06-07*

I haven’t had this app for very long but it is already so fun, and it really motivates me to explore new areas. I know this is a very new app and I’m sure there are many updates in the works, but if I may recommend some additions:
- You should be able to save and view hexes you haven’t stomped in the same way as hexes you have. It’d be nice to save hexes you plan on visiting later.
- You should be able to see your friends’s total hexes visited. A total leaderboard and daily leaderboard could be fun too!
- being able to “visit” your friends’ maps and maybe see what areas you’ve gotten that your friend hasn’t, and vice versa. Like a map overlay. Even without that, it would be fun to just be able to see your friends’ maps
- being able to sort, search, and filter your visited neighborhoods/cities would be great

**Developer response:** So happy to hear how much you're enjoying Stomped! I've got good news, a couple of those features are coming very soon, and we've noted the other ones for the future. Have fun stomping!

### 4/5 — Great concept

*2026-06-06*

Love the idea and the look of the app. I do think the location tracking needs some help. I have it set to always track but unless I have the app and my phone open, it only unlocks about every 3rd tile for me.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your valuable feedback - we recommend keeping your app updated, as we started rolling out an update yesterday to make some tracking improvements, and will continue to in the coming days. Have fun!

### 5/5 — Such a fun app!! I’ve always wanted something like this

*2026-06-06*

Love this app and the concept! Some ideas: viewing overlapping maps of where your friends have stomped. Being able to add friends by username and not just a link in messages. Ability to view the # of stomps you’ve made on a tile (for example 19 means you’ve been on the tile 19 times). Different color theme options (love orange but it’d be cool to customize like a pink version, blue version, etc.) a monthly stats page (most you’ve stomped in a day, most stomped area, most stomped city, ranking of cities)

**Developer response:** Thrilled you're enjoying it! We've duly noted your feedback, and improving and expanding the friends system is a top priority for us. Have fun!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Latest Update glitchy

*2026-07-14*

I can’t click on anything since the latest update. No menus or buttons are pressable

**Developer response:** So sorry to hear this! Can you please reach us at help@stomped.app to allow us to look into this for you? We’d love to help solve the mystery!

### 1/5 — Tracks while in a car/subway

*2026-06-08*

Getting too many tiles without actually walking them. WalkNYC is better, tracks by block and doesn’t track when you’re on the train.

**Developer response:** Sorry to hear you've had difficulty with tracking. Keep your app updated in the coming days, as we've heard your feedback and we're allowing users to disable tracking while in the car, biking, or on the train. Have fun, and thanks for Stomping!

### 2/5 — You’d think I sit at home all day…

*2026-07-19*

I have my location on always and I barely have any squares unlocked. You’d think I was a hermit.

### 2/5 — Conceptually great

*2026-06-09*

This seems like a really cool idea but the always tracking feature makes my phone lag out so bad that I had to delete the app. Has good potential

**Developer response:** Sorry to hear you had issues with the Always feature. We actually released an update today to help address this, and always appreciate feedback like this as we fine tune the app!

### 3/5 — Taps out after awhile

*2026-08-29*

I really love this app but ever since I took a road trip and hit 60,000 tiles the app is no longer functional. It freezes whenever I try to look at my map or the leaderboard. Any tips?

**Developer response:** Hey! Sorry to hear you've seen a little lag with the app. We're actually releasing an update with a targeted fix for higher tile count users, so make sure to keep your app updated over the coming days! Thanks for Stomping!

### 3/5 — Love the idea

*2026-07-02*

I really like this app and love looking at the map. The problem is that it takes up like 30% of my battery each day and doesn’t even get all the tiles I “stomped” unless I have the app open and even then it sometimes doesn’t get them all

### 3/5 — There’s Potential

*2026-07-01*

I really like this app, or at least the premise of the app. It’s actually pretty simple to navigate, but my biggest grievance is sometimes the track in background works, and sometimes it doesn’t. It is especially frustrating when I spent a significant amount of time wandering around only to realize nothing tracked. Alternatively, there’s achievements to be unlocked, but we have no way of knowing what they are… you simply get an achievement if you get one, but if not… you have no idea what you’re trying to work towards. It would be nice to be able to expand the leaderboard function beyond our most stomped city — say the other cities and neighbourhoods that we’ve been to. As some cities or neighbourhoods, I’d argue I’d be one of the top stompers but since they’re not comparable in size to my most stomped city (New York), I’d never know.

Overall, the app has a lot of potential. But I’d definitely would like to see the bug fixed for the background tracking because God forbid I have to hold my phone with the app open the entire time to track. It kind of defeats the entire point of going out into the wild and stomping if you have to constantly monitor an app.

### 3/5 — Needs some improvement

*2026-06-30*

1) The hexes are just a bit too small, sometimes impossible to get a city block because location is never perfectly accurate 2) it’s annoyed that it takes up the full bar at the top with the blue arrow - other apps that use your location don’t do this. Sometimes it even does this after I quit the app

### 3/5 — concept is cool

*2026-06-29*

it doesn’t unlock all of the tiles i pass over. there’s big sections of my map that are just missing a ton of tiles even though in those area my service and connection is great. is always freezing up on me.

### 3/5 — awesome concept for travelers

*2026-06-18*

I travel a LOT by vehicle for work and this app seemed like a super cool way to see that visually! Noticed it drains a lot of battery for a background app, like way more than leaving your bluetooth on would, and it struggles to location track long distances or higher speeds (like at or above ~35mph?) but these are all problems that time and updates can solve :)

**Developer response:** Thanks for bringing this feedback to our attention! So sorry to hear it had some difficulty in the car for you. We're working to address this now and we'll be sure to update the functionality shortly.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Fun way to explore your own neighborhood

*2026-08-27*

I’m embarrassed at how obsessed I am with this app

### 5/5 — Very cool app

*2026-08-22*

I like the idea of the app. But I think they could improve on it. It would be cool if there was an overall leaderboard with total number of tiles stomped per person. The GPS is inconsistent sometimes, but that is a hardware issue, so not on them. Tiles in this game serve only as a point system for a leaderboard. There should be more badges too. Overall, good app.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2026-08-02*

I’m really loving this app, it motivates me to get out of the house and walk around my neighborhood!

**Developer response:** Thanks a bunch for your review! So glad to hear you’re enjoying Stomped!

### 5/5 — Love it!!:)

*2026-08-02*

Fun little app! Gets me moving around a bit more

**Developer response:** So glad to hear that you’re enjoying Stomped! Thanks for the glowing review!

### 5/5 — Really good game

*2026-07-31*

I’ve always wanted to have a game like this

**Developer response:** So glad you’ve been able to find it! Thanks for the review!

### 5/5 — lowkey my new hobby

*2026-07-14*

the way this app has motivated me to get out and explore my city every day is crazy. i feel like i unlocked a part of my brain i didn’t know about, but now i can’t stop until ive gotten every tile 😭 luckily i love trespassing

### 5/5 — Love it

*2026-07-12*

I have been wanting something like this for a long time. Glad a friend introduced it to me! Only thing is sometimes the tracking is a little off and I miss a bunch of tiles. Wish I had had this on my whole life!

### 5/5 — I meet who create this app

*2026-06-23*

The nicest and sweetest guy ever. I ask him if he can share he’s hotspot with me and he said yes. And we stared talking about this app is amazing let’s all walk together.

### 5/5 — Just downloaded

*2026-06-16*

and I’m already obsessed

### 5/5 — miss the colorful neighborhood borders

*2026-06-12*

I miss the neighborhood borders/colors and being able to see my progress highlighted and color coded even when I zoom out super far on the map since I’m traveling all over. This app is great because I’ve gotten to see the different neighborhoods and borders of communities that I’m commuting between! The new updates are great.

**Developer response:** Hey! You may need to disable viewing friend tiles in order to see the neighborhood colors again. So happy to hear you're loving Stomped!
