But, for every new thing you get, the time between each is made more and more exponential. Each boss fight is so gimmicky and strong you need an excessive amount of force and the one viable strategy to get through. It doesn't take a "strong will" to do the later parts, it takes a complete numbness for how terrible it is to glean small flecks of fun. Play it, but stop playing it once it gets on your nerves. It has a perfect balance between challenge and strategy that makes it difficult yet fun! Stone Story has a deceptively complex combat system. It looks when you start, but later in the game your strategic skills are put to the test. In late game you are required to meticulously plan your weapon load-out according to the level, forcing you to memorize and learn from your mistakes. Don’t be fooled. This is a game of intricate strategy. You can tell every aspect of this game had blood, sweat, and tears out into it. Clearly a passion project. Unique gameplay and progression, interesting story, AMAZING art. I lose my progress because the ad is broken and won’t let you skip and close even after the ad is finished and you’re supposed to close for your award. This aggravates me so much and I get real mad. What is unforgivable, in my opinion, is the way you have to manually save your game. And I don’t mean you have to click a save button every so often - you have to either: export the game file using a token (this is intended to port saves onto other devices) or copied the save file to your clipboard, where you’ll have to manually save it somewhere. It seems backwards because the things you can buy with real money is later in the game, so the incentive is to get you to that point but no if you want to keep all the stuff you’ve farmed for - and you do have to farm - you have to do it manually. I’ve had to figure this out myself so I’ve restarted everything about 5 times now and 3 of those times is due to the biggest problem currently in the game - the ads. They are optional to upgrade or get treasure but some of them softlock you within the ad, the BitLife one is the main culprit. Because you’re soft locked you have to close the game, which deletes all your progress, so if you aren’t constantly manually saving the file somewhere you will never progress. Having to replay the game multiple removes the charm, it’s not that quick and not that randomised so the only interesting takeaways are in the later story bits that you can’t even reach. Great game, as soon as this gets a reply, I’ll take it down. ### 1/5 — As greedy as the others *2024-12-29, version 4.7.0* I’m unsure why the top reviews for this app hail it as some sort of shining example of consumer-friendly monetization when it is truly just like the rest of the games on the App Store at the moment. What you have is an extremely linear “RPG” that requires little to no conscious thought, and offers even less in terms of gameplay and build expression. By the end of your first hour on the game, it will be giving you advertisements and pop-ups for “Limited Time equipment” which is just Pay-to-Win gear that will progress you through the story much quicker than otherwise. The grind of the game quickly became a slog, the story wasn’t interesting or fleshed out, and the equipment and build aspect is shallow and linear. It’s another Monetization System with a game attached. So, in other words, this game is no different than the thousands of “idle” games out there. I have no clue why it gets critical acclaim from the top reviews when it suffers from the very faults that they quote as being issues in other games. ### 1/5 — Games absolutely ruined *2024-11-03, version 4.3.1* Needs a definitive save button. I’ve lost 5+ hours of gameplay due to saves not working and I’m really upset about it. I gave this a 5 star review and now it’s a 1 star because I can’t even progress. Είστε πραγματικά οι καλύτεροι! ### 5/5 — This might be the best rpg I have ever played *2026-07-27, version 4.33.0* I first started stone story rpg around 2 years ago when I saw my older cousin playing it on his phone so I asked my dad if I could get he said yes because it looked like a good game was like 3 bucks at the time I started playing it and I mean it was good but not really what rpg looked in my head so I stopped play for 2 months after my said 2 month hiatus I got back to playing it again because I was bored and was looking for something to do they game was excellent minimal ads no micro transaction popups every 15 minutes and no complaints except for the grinding being quite tedious but you get used to it overall great game and i can’t wait for any further updates or sequels ### 5/5 — Programming RPG *2026-05-16, version 4.27.2* Late game requires you programming for best strategy to progress even further.
