Several months ago it got glitchy. Every time I scan an item it shuts down & I have to reopen the app, wait till it ask to resume shopping, scan the next item & repeat this process with every item I buy. I have tried removing & downloading it again, all updates are done. This is frustrating & takes me longer in the store. Otherwise I love that I can use an app on my phone rather than the scanning guns in the store. I also love that I can scan & pack my reusable bags as I shop! FIX IT PLEASE!!!! ### 1/5 — FIX THE APP *2026-04-30* Your Scan it Mobile program hasn’t worked for months on my iPhone as a number of other reviewers have noted. It crashes after every scan and you have to restart the program and resume your cart, only to have it crash after the next scan. Customer Service and multiple Stop and Shop locations have told me to contact Customer Support. There is no Customer Support as there is nothing to check or comment on that covers a faulty App. There is no excuse for not fixing this problem. Your app had worked before. So my recommendation is FIX THE APP! Unfortunately more often than not, it crashes every single time you scan an item and it’s a hassle to open it, retrieve cart, and scan another item just for it to crash again. Additionally, I wish it were easier to access coupons. With BJs in-store mobile scan, if you scan an item that has an available coupon, it tells you so that you can apply the coupon to your cart. There are so many coupons available for Stop and Shop that’s it’s a time drain to scroll through them all and add them ahead of time. Now it crashes when you scan anything. When I go back to it, it says “preparing your shopping trip” and that takes a while. Then it asks me if I want to start a new order or resume. After every single item scan. I keep seeing if there is a new version to fix this. I’ve contacted their customer support. No improvement. And I should add I keep trying the app because the self scan guns in the store are horrible. Also heaven forbid they want to do a quick scan on you when you use the app. Guess what? It doesn’t work, so you have to go and get a self scan gun, which doesn’t work. In this day and age I can’t believe how bad their technology is. Would be nice if they did some updates to improve it like, call me crazy, a login button. Not sure why my reviews for this app disappeared but the app is terrible. Why no updates in 3 months? Like others I can no longer connect to wifi since ios18. Why is there no login? Only way to login is to add a coupon which prompts the login. Hopefully a delete and reinstall will work. Overall it Makes checking out at self checkout quick. Can bypass the scanning gun in store. My primary Stop and Shop finally opened a dedicated scan-it self checkout, so I get the reward of not having to wait for others who self scan and bag at register. ### 5/5 — Worked Great *2022-10-30* I was reluctant to even try this app due to the low star rating, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was very easy to use especially if you are already used to using the in store scanners. All you have to do is use the instore WiFi and your hood to go. Definitely give this app a try. I’ve used it for years and it always works well. By the time you come to the register everything‘s been scanned. Then I use Apple Pay and I’m checked out in a minute or two. Very convenient. I had no idea there was this app until the cold cuts section of my store closed down (Pandemic) and required ordering deli meats through the regular Store app. When I saw ScanIT listed as an app I couldn’t believe it! No more worrying about all the people who previously touched the Handle on ScanIT because now I’m using my own phone. It works great - I have no idea why so many people rated it one star. Today I just learned I can save a payment method in the app via ScanIT wallet and no longer need to touch the checkout touchscreen at self checkout! What?! Awesome. ### 5/5 — Easy to use *2020-04-06, version 19.30.00* I like being able to use my phone to see what I already bought/scanned, scan new items, bag them myself as i go, and pay online. I don’t have to touch dirty hand held scanners, and I don’t have to wait in line. Super quick. Super I like this app ### 4/5 — Works well for me, but Big Y’s app is better *2024-12-17, version 24.212.117* I rarely had problems with this app. Unlike so many reviews here, it’s worked well for me most of the time. I just used Big Y’s app for the first time. Nicer experience. Your debit or credit card is kept in the system so when you check out, you just scan a QR code and allow it to use your saved method of payment. Much easier and faster. I wish Stop & Shop had it. I might start doing more shopping at Big Y. ### 4/5 — The Most Recent Update *2024-09-28* I think the most recent update did something to this app. I’m using an iPhone SE (2020 model) with iOS version 17.6.1. The last three times I tried to use it, it would freeze any time I scanned an item and added it to my cart. I’m always having to force close the app and then restart it. I did consider uninstalling then reinstalling the app, but I wouldn’t want to try something so drastic just yet. In any case, I think the that the team behind this app should look into it. As for the app itself, usually it works like it’s supposed to, and it’s convenient if you don’t want to use the hand scanners. However, I can only give it four stars because of a single flaw (though, this is more about the mobile checkout system itself): if anything goes wrong (e.g.: an item didn’t scan correctly, or your checkout gets “audited” as they call it), then mobile checkout won’t be available at all, and you’ll only get a barcode. You’ll then have to use either a regular self-checkout, or do it the old fashioned way (with a cashier). Also, it may just be me, but I don’t think digital coupons are available either when using it. Overall, it’s not really as bad as other reviews make it sound, at least in my experience. Also, while any kind of self-checkout is convenient, be sure to support the cashiers too. ### 4/5 — Crashes constant. *2023-07-10, version 23.10.00* App is useable.
