### 3/5 — Widgets

*2026-08-12, version 4.26.7*

Decent radar app, but definitely needs newer more colorful, updated widgets similar to apples weather widgets!

### 4/5 — Why do you have to pay for lighting strikes?

*2026-08-08, version 4.26.7*

It should be included along with storm track

### 3/5 — Good app but unable to be used offline

*2026-08-08, version 4.26.7*

I like this app but when you’re offline it takes forever to load do not recommend

### 3/5 — I purchased this before

*2026-07-16, version 4.26.7*

I purchased this a few years ago. Now I am being urged to buy a subscription to an app I purchased outright! I am very upset about this. When I purchased it, it was not subscription based. In fact to use it you had to actually buy it. Now because they have decided it’s subscription based I am locked out of function I used to have access to. I really enjoyed this but think I may have to find one that doesn’t just change the rules mid game just because it got popular.

### 2/5 — Not as good

*2026-06-26, version 4.26.7*

This app used to be really good, but I’m getting alerts and when I click nothing is there.
It’s also not updating while I’m traveling, even though I refresh.

### 4/5 — Used to be better

*2026-06-22, version 4.26.7*

I have used Storm Shield for many, many years. Lately its quality has gone downhill. I get other notices about severe weather in my saved areas, but when I open up my saved locations on StormShield, it is not showing the NWS alerts, even though my saved setting is well within the "polygon" that Storm Shield is supposed to be covering for me. Today, I tried to send a Support request, but it wouldn't let me finish. I hit the submit button multiple times, and it just said, "send more information to be more helpful." I had filled out every field correctly. I triple checked. This has been going on for several weeks. I am disappointed because I have recommended this app to many, many people.

### 4/5 — opinon

*2026-05-19, version 4.26.7*

this app is so good it’s just i wish that you would ent have to pay so see more

### 3/5 — Okay. But this scares me…

*2026-05-16, version 4.26.7*

I like it because it can alert but instead it does an extremely loud alert that freaks me out.

### 1/5 — New developer firm is greedy

*2026-05-02, version 4.26.7*

I first downloaded this app several years ago when it’s original owners and developers had it. Living in Iowa, severe weather is a thing and promptness, accuracy and reliability are THE key attributes for a severe weather alerting app to demonstrate. Storm Shield ticked all three boxes for years both in Iowa and for the brief time I lived in another state. Like some of the reviews suggest, I was impressed by the fact that the app would push an alert before other outlets or outdoor warning sirens. Didn’t matter if the alert was related to convective weather, winter weather, high winds or fog…Storm Shield was always ahead of the game-and at a very reasonable price. $.99/mo for everything. Granted one doesn’t have to purchase any upgrades in order to get the key functionality which is the alerting. What I am floored by is how the current developer can justify such an up charge to $11.49+? What is the true value proposition that warrants increasing price from $.99, to $5 or 6, to what it is today??
Not only is this monthly cost not practical, I have noticed that the reliability and timeliness of the app to alert has declined. Sometimes it is delayed significantly but many times it doesn’t even alert when it should. This decline while the cost increases leads me to only one conclusion: the development and ownership folks care more about profit than the consumer experience.

### 2/5 — Price Increase is too much,

*2026-05-02, version 4.26.7*

Latest price increase to over $11 a month is too much. It adds uo to more than $120 year. After almost a decade, I am cancelling my subscription. I will miss you but this is too much.

### 3/5 — Pins Other Areas

*2026-04-28, version 4.26.7*

I like the radar and temperature features as well as storm warnings. But other places show up as pinned I don't care about. I don't know how they got pinned or how to get rid of them. I'm sure every time I delete it and start over I'm charged for it.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Routinely Wrong

*2026-08-24, version 4.26.7*

Quite often it will not show correct predictions like the other apps. Today it is showing 0 precipitation while it’s raining! That’s the normal.

### 1/5 — Paid subscription for alerts

*2026-08-06, version 4.26.7*

For an app that describes itself as a “severe weather alerts” app, if you want lighting alerts, it’s a paid subscription

### 1/5 — No radar

*2026-07-16, version 4.26.7*

After latest update the app will not show radar or weather layers. Tried deleting and restoring subscription and it will not restore.

### 1/5 — Radar stopped working

*2026-07-16, version 4.26.7*

The precipitation radar just stopped working, and opening layers doesn’t let me turn precipitation on/off either. So basically the ONE thing the free version did doesn’t even work anymore.

### 1/5 — Used to love this app

*2026-07-16, version 4.26.7*

This used to be my go to weather app. Not anymore, it will say there is an alert, but if you click for more info, nothing.

Radar working, flip a coin on whether it’s actually working. Want to adjust the layers, once again, good luck if you even get to see anything regarding what layers you can use. They haven’t updated the app in so long, I’m thinking that they are just milking this for what subscription fees they have left and doing nothing to maintain it.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2026-06-28, version 4.26.7*

The app never lets you know when severe weather events are coming or other severe weather events will happen.

### 1/5 — Do Not Download - Money Hungry Developers

*2026-06-05, version 4.26.7*

I have been a loyal customer since the app launched. It was my favorite and the best for future radar watches. It helped with Tornado tracking in my area and having the ability to warn my local family. This App has increased its fees from yearly to monthly to weekly at ridiculous levels, especially in a time where everything else is ridiculously expensive… $30 a year, $12 a month, $1.99 a week adds up quick

I have deleted the app and moved on

You think they would Grandfather the loyal customers in that helped make what the app good like it once was with the small team of determined developers that focused on the customer satisfaction and amazing weather information it provided. Instead, the new owners are more interested in ‘pleasing and lining the stock holders pockets’ first and bending everyone over a log while stroking a dry corn cob right up where the sun don’t shine

This app is a blundering joke and I hope all others follow along to the point it has to shut down.

### 1/5 — Location changed

*2026-05-29, version 4.26.7*

I did not change my location but the app now sends weather for Lamont, FL instead of Lamar, TX. Useless. I can’t find a way to fix it.

### 1/5 — Used to work…

*2026-05-24, version 4.26.7*

I’ve used this app for years but in the last year it’s not reliable. Sometimes a local alert will pop up on my phone, sometimes not, but when I go to check the alert it’s not there (even though it’s active). I have better luck with a local weather station app that’s hundreds of miles away. I’m not sure what glitch is happening, but for a paid app - I expect more. Please address this! I don’t want to cancel - but did because it just doesn’t work. The alerts are critical for severe or inclement weather!!! Get it together!

### 1/5 — Worse than a GARBAGE APP…

*2026-05-04, version 4.26.7*

After 20+ YEARS of using this app, ROTTING GARBAGE IS MORE ACCURATE & RELIABLE NOW.

I relied on this app for decades.
This app NO LONGER helps save lives - PERIOD!!
(And I KNOW my Meterology. I’ve been SAR, a Volunteer First Responder, Volunteer K9 Searcher, AWS w/Air Force in college & still a Storm Chaser to name just a few professions that require meteorological knowledge.)

Greedy buyers/“investors” did what they do best: buy what they know NOTHING about, gut it, significantly increase price & FALSIFY THEIR INFO (WILDLY FALSIFYING STORM SHIELD APP!!! WOW!) with INFO FROM YEARS AGO to impress the unaware.

—> SCUM IN DRAIN PIPES HAS BETTER QUALITY & ACCURACY THAN STORM SHIELD NOW! <—

—> PRICE GAUGING as well for THIS NOW GARBAGE storm shieldLESS APP. <—

The list of what has not been destroyed in this app is so long there is only one thing to list that’s not: graphics have slightly improved.

**** CANCELED MY SUBSCRIPTION, and I paid for the best on this app for myself and my team & volunteers, & ALL of MY CLIENTS HAVE CANCELLED AS WELL.

PS:
WHO IN THE HECK MAKES PIN-DROPS THE SAME COLOR AS THE WEATHER RADARS SO YOU CANNOT FIND A SPECIFIC LOCATION DURING SEVERE WEATHER??!! Oh yeah, the INCOMPETENT “INVESTORS” who bought out THIS NOW GARBAGE APP.
(IE: Red pin drops with red severe rain fall radar OVER the red pinned location (and blue pins during blue winter weather alerts) for you incompetent “investors” - just a red or blue blob.)

### 5/5 — Accurate and Effective Weather App

*2026-07-11, version 4.26.7*

I’ve been a subscriber of this app for several years and keep being more impressed over the years. I was in Canada visiting my BFF and was able to track the weather while I was there. This is in another country and still, of course, captures the accuracy of the weather of where I live in the USA - very impressive!

Please send Cheatham County Tennessee reports

### 5/5 — Good notifications

### 5/5 — Great app for outdoor activities

*2026-04-15, version 4.26.7*

This has been a lifesaver several times for me. I’ve had this app for several years and it is very useful. Living in Ohio it’s a major plus.
