They make up stories, giggle and proudly show off their efforts. Encourages creativity and sharing while they have loads of fun. We've gone through the wheel hundreds of times and every time I'm surprised at how different and ridiculous the stuff we come up with is. The graphics are clean, and the add-ons (other icons for use in story telling) are reasonably priced. I will be using it with my writing workshop groups, to generate some interesting stories. There are some limitations - the story has to be 12 illustrations long, and if you quit before you get to that point, you lose what you've already done. But it's fun to use and will appeal to kids. ### 5/5 — Jonathan *2011-06-22* This app is hilarious and fun. I spent a good solid hour "building" a few stories on this with my wife and alternatively my daughter last night. The playback feature is really great as well. Turned out to be a good improv tool and got our creative juices flowing. They were extremely disappointed. This app is NOT worth $2.99, and I would like a refund. ### 1/5 — CRASHES *2011-07-18, version 1.2* Great idea, but after spinning a couple times it ALWAYS crashes. I'd actually put money into buying more stories in the application if it actually worked. ### 2/5 — Story writer *2014-09-18* The programme crashes when the Pirate Story shows a message in a bottle. This is disappointing as all the work is lost. Please sort out the blip in the programme to get an improved rating. The idea is good but the detail has not been worked out carefully enough yet. ### 2/5 — Frustrated students and teacher *2013-11-02, version 2.1* I have used this app for a couple of years but with these last few updates my students and I have run into a number of problems. At the beginning of the year, students were having trouble saving the story. Now they can save the story but when they go to listen to it, it flies through the pages and you can't hear it. It is very frustrating because the kids worked so hard to create the story and aren't able to hear how it turned out. I have found these issues are happening on 8 separate iPads so it isn't an isolated incident. In the past, I recommended this app to so many teachers and schools. Now I am completely regretting my recommendations. :( Please fix these issues!!! ### 2/5 — Won't let me write player name *2013-10-05* The app won't let me enter the players name therefore I can't use the app. Please send an update to fix the issue. ### 3/5 — Lee *2011-09-23, version 1.6* I am a Speech Pathologist. I have attempted to use the app on groups. My student's deficits are in oral language skills. Consequently they are slow at formulating sentences for each picture. They also have difficulty with developing a cohesive story. They require cues and modeling. My problem with the app is that it is a 12 page story. With modeling and quick revisions the group runs out of time. You cannot save part of the story nor can you make the story shorter. I think it is has good potential. Most students who try it really like it and request to use it over and over. ### 5/5 — Great educational tool *2012-12-11* As a tutor and as a preservice primary school teacher I'm always looking for fun, creative ways to encourage my students to think and to create thoughtful and entertaining stories. I have used this application quite a few times with many of my students and they seem really engaged in the story telling process.
