### 4/5 — Black screen

*2026-04-16, version 1.05*

I have the same issue that others have stated where when starting a video the screen goes black. If I minimise the picture in picture you can see the video for a second and then goes black again. I actually worked with Support to try and resolve this months ago, but they couldn’t re-create hopefully fix soon as my daughter likes this app and it is a lesser experience going through the browser.

The problem is on an iPad sixth generation on iOS 17
Old iPad touch and iPad mini first generation both running iOS 12 work fine

### 2/5 — No video

*2026-02-08, version 1.05*

Just as someone else mentioned I’m getting sound but no video. Please fix. I have an iPad Pro 2nd gen 17.7.10 os

### 2/5 — No video is showing at all in all stories, becomes black screen.

*2026-01-20, version 1.05*

I cannot see all the videos at all but hear the sound. So when ai open the story video, the screen becomes black but the sound is running. My iPad app is up to date. Does it happen to others?.

### 2/5 — Not usable

*2025-05-22, version 1.04*

Randomly logs you out. Would be great to have a way to discover books by age range rather than everything being explicitly grouped into different topics. Didn’t manage to even get as far as reading a book.

### 2/5 — Need to log in too often and buggy

*2025-02-20, version 1.04*

Takes way too long to login - I sign in through my library account - you can’t search for your library and it doesn’t remember your history. Logs you out often and you have you use your library card number which means I have to go find it.
Trying the app again after a year off hoping it’s improved.
Bugs have been around seeing other people’s saved story lists and it plays content of videos you don’t click on

### 3/5 — Couple of fixes needed, please!

*2024-09-30*

We absolutely love this service and have been using the web version for over a year with our kids. Found out there was an app and downloaded it immediately.

Sadly a few things are missing / needed on the app version.

1. We log in with the library login option and when we quit the app we have to log in again each time we open the app. Our kids can’t manage that on their own and it’s a big hassle. Saving login details is exactly the kind of thing an app should be able to do over a website.

2. Would be nice if the login supported using password managers, but that’s a nice to have and not needed if the app could remember your credentials.

3. The web version has one filter the app is missing. We often use the “Age Group” filter on the website to limit results to “Early years”. That filter is missing in the app’s Advanced Filters section.

4. Where you browse by author or reader you should consider adding names to the profile pictures. I certainly don’t know these people from their photos.

5. You should consider the first tab or main view to be already filtered to “all books” instead of these featured carousels. My kids have to learn to find the second tab and select options etc to find the view of books. The website is a better laid out experience for kids, especially those who can’t read but can visually browse and find the book cover they want.

**Developer response:** Hello, thank you so much for your detailed and thoughtful feedback! I'm pleased to let you know we've just released an update that resolves issues 1 & 5 and we're looking at addressing the other points you've raised in future updates. Thank you so much for your patience and support from the StoryBox team.

### 3/5 — Big fan, disappointed with the app

*2024-09-19, version 1.04*

My son loves your videos. We’re a huge fan of your service. We access it via our local library. I’ve just downloaded the app and I’m running it on iOS 18. I can’t access the drop down menu to select my local library.

### 5/5 — My kids love it!

*2022-03-15, version 1.0*

We’ve been using the Story Box Library website with our kids for a couple of years now, but so excited to see they have an app now! Very easy to use, love the playlists, very high video production. The best!

### 5/5 — Best storytelling site on the internet

*2022-03-12, version 1.0*

At last an app for the website we’ve been using for years. Storybox library is the best online storytelling site on the internet….so professional and lots of entertaining stories for our kids! No ads either!
