So much insight and a clear roadmap to the books I’d like to read fully. ### 5/5 — Phenomenal app *2024-09-06* StoryShots is just a great app. It doesn’t only give you a brief summary of a book but the killer feature is getting additional summaries and YouTube videos and interviews, etc. specific to the respective book. This makes it incredible useful in particular for important books. And pricing is super fair. It’s a lifetime deal and you don’t have to constantly think about subscribing, unsubscribing, subscribing, unsubscribing, etc.. HIGHLY recommended! We'd love to hear from you! ### 5/5 — I love this app! *2024-03-31, version 2.8.90* This app provides 15-20 minute summaries of popular non-fiction (plus a few fiction) books. It is great to be able to grasp the essence of a title during a one-way commute to work. Sometimes, the StoryShots will inspire me to dig deeper and find the complete text. Although the narration voices sound a bit robotic, they are generally pleasant and easy to understand. I highly recommend. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — WAAAAY too many ads! *2026-08-02, version 2.9.994* In a 17 minute story shot there was approximately 10 minutes of ads! I will definitely not pay for the subscription saddened by the capitalistic greed of the free version of the app. Do better. ### 1/5 — Lifetime do not work *2026-05-26, version 2.9.994* I paid lifetime but it do not change my plan and the company do not solve ### 1/5 — Stopped Working Completely *2026-04-10, version 2.9.99* I have a lifetime subscription to this app and sadly it completely stopped working recently. I emailed support multiple times and they have stopped replying to me with a possible solution. It's very sad because I really liked this app when it was working but I don't know what else to do. I have updated all my devices and deleted and re-installed the app multiple times with no luck. ### 1/5 — Billed for a year when offered a 2-week trial! *2025-09-17, version 2.9.71* I decided to go for a two-week trial. It specifically mentioned no charge would be incurred for two weeks. The minute I clicked on submit my account was charged. I reached out to customer support, but I’m still waiting to hear back. Definitely does not seem right to me. Leider kann ich nicht auf deutsche Bücher zugreifen. Wenn ich versuche Kontakt aufzunehmen, soll ich irgendwelche Daten eingeben und ich hab keine Ahnung was man von mir will. Call it what you want. Your app charged me when it said trial. This level of service will cost the company more than the price of refunding it. Their response to my review is inaccurate. I contacted them numerous times after I was charged and they were never willing to help. ### 1/5 — They collect your password *2025-01-12, version 2.9.12* Their Privacy Policy actually states that they harvest your “password”… Check it out yourselves…scroll down to their privacy policy at the bottom of this app’s page…it’s disgusting really. Not many apps collect passwords, but this one does (and I analyse privacy policies of hundreds/thousands of apps, extensions, plug-ins, open source code, software…) “Types of Data collected Among the types of Personal Data that this Application collects, by itself or through third parties, there are: Cookies; Usage Data; email address; first name; last name; country; phone number; password; profile picture; number of sessions; session duration; In-app purchases; first launches; operating systems; unique device identifiers for advertising (Google Advertiser ID or IDFA, for example); payment data; Data communicated while using the service; date of birth; Universally unique identifier (UUID); Crash information; device information.” Why do they collect your password? To hep you set a stronger password? To analyse password trends? To help their users create stronger passwords? Hell no!!! That’s not their job - they aren’t security auditors/guardians! They’re software developers out to make money! The ONE and ONLY reason to collect passwords is precisely to: directly log-in to all accounts and steal credit card details and harvest same log-in credentials to “brute force” or “password spray” elsewhere. The only way around this would be to NOT “tap” or type in your password manually on their app, only use biometric log-in methods as they can’t clone/collect/steal that (but they “key log” your phone screen taps). I just wouldn’t use this dishonest and highly intrusive and disgraceful and unprofessional and insecure app, hands-down. Such unethical developers with unthinkable privacy breaching practices don’t deserve space in the app world. Dangerous dangerous dangerous app. ### 1/5 — Terrible *2024-10-10, version 2.9.7* Just creating an account itself a big trouble forget about using the app. ### 1/5 — Login loop *2024-02-19, version 2.8.87* Attempted to create account. Sends me an email that I’m supposed to click link on. Link goes back to the app where it asks me to input my email address.
