An app shouldn’t crash if it has trouble connecting with WiFi, and the developer gives the same excuse...”it’s the routers fault.” I don’t blame the router when Safari crashes. There are a lot of bugs to work out of this app before it’s useful in a “real” switching environment. I’ll give it 2 stars for the creativity of attempting something that has real potential to be useful. **Developer response:** Hi Jernap. It's important to understand that Strata is not 'crashing' as you suggest, but it's actually being forcibly closed by iOS because its 'stuck' - due to the network connectivity. If you try a wired ethernet connection I am certain your experience will be totally different (but with the same Strata software). Students use this app to control our video switcher at school. It is easy to use and effective. It saves us from having to lug around another computer when we are mobile. ### 3/5 — Works but crashes constantly *2015-12-05* While I get that this isn’t the “pro” version, I’m a developer so I cannot understand why this continues to crash for people and there has been nothing done about it. It’s a 12$ app that’s only purpose is to use a predefined network based API with some graphical buttons. Yes, this app works but waiting for 10 mins then trying to switch camera feeds results in a crash. You then need to open the app, wait (only to realize it isn’t auto connecting as it should), open the settings, do nothing except for click save, then close the settings. And before people ask about my network, it’s a dedicated network that has one wired connection to the ATEM and a single wireless connection to the iPad. No internet connectivity and is less than 5' from both devices. I am seriously considering building my own tool for this and providing it for free if a solution isn’t found soon. **Developer response:** Hi AskMP. Did all the wireless settings right. Yet, neither on my iPad or iPhone the app does not even see the unit. I have checked all the settings in the machine and the apps and they all match properly. Such a frustration to make this app working. Well, in the settings page of the app they encourage you to get a pro version which is way more expensive. Now, after such a hassle to connect my devices with the lite version I don’t know if I should try the pro! Any suggestions? Money grab. *2021-05-04* You know when you hover over that buy button thinking you know this is a rip-off but hope it’ll at least work enough to be worth it in 1 year or so? Yeah, that’s this app. But still not worth it 1 year down the line. Absolutely trash - this app is so poorly designed I’m amazed Apple allowed it. 1: the app will refresh its GUI constantly while it tries to reconnect to the ATEM device. This leads to you tapping the same button repeatedly like a slot machine hoping you caught it while it didn’t disable the button and actually sends the command. 2: dev has no idea about WiFi, how it works, or what would fix it. To quote them, “we saw Apple airport behaving better”. Right, makes sense, a 2.4GHz router from a decade ago. Then in the same breath the dev blames your router and BlackMagic for the intermittent connectivity this app is barely handling. I’m 5 feet away from my router, and the laptop using Software Control uses the same router, same WiFi, same protocol that BM wrote, yet magically works. It must be because I don’t have a decade old Airport. 3: emailed the dev 6 business days ago, zero replies. Not even a courtesy “thanks for emailing I’m swamped, I’ll look into it”. Silence. 4. The app costs WAY TOO MUCH for the trash quality and use you get out of it. Dev should dial it back to free. Then at least I and many others won’t be demanding the dev fix the app to work as advertised. As it stands right now I purchased a product that was falsely advertised, and it has no support. With covid thing. We couldnt have more than one person in our small sound booth at our venue. Set up cameras on floor and remote monitor. Does the job! ### 5/5 — The 1 Star does not reflect my experience of it *2020-07-26* I was a little nervous about purchasing this App given its price and the reviews. First attempt to use it the app appeared to be buggy (shutting down when attempting to save the ip of my ATEM Mini Pro). I was further frustrated when the app refused to connect to the ATEM. This was my fault as I had accidentally unplugged my network hub power. Once I sorted out the network issue the app worked flawlessly. The app works over WiFi on my 2020 iPad Pro and iPad Air. The app is fast to connect and fast to respond. My best advice to anyone who has problems with this app is to make sure your network and ip settings are correct. Note to developers, the price of Strata Pro is too high given the success of the ATEM Mini and the likely up take in demand for your apps you may increase you income from the app by pricing the Pro version more competitively. It's a little confusing at first if your used to controlling it manually but it only takes a couple minutes to figure out. ### 5/5 — Works great! *2016-01-05* If you configure your settings correctly this wonder app can be a life saver for single user/presenters. Would be perfect if it integrated automation allowing for pre programmed selection sequence of camera and time. Man muss vorher nur die Kanäle auf die Mischertasten zuweisen, damit man auch nur die Anzahl der Kameras, die wirklich benutzt werden, in der App einblendet.
