### 4/5 — Just Fantastic!

*2013-04-15, version 1.2*

I have spent the last week downloading all the reasonable looking TD games I could find. This one has impressed for not only is there a lot of enemies to kill, the ability to play beyond the level's end is a nice innovation.

The only thing I wish for at this point is to have a better zoom. No biggy. Just a wish.

I have other TD games that I like but this one will be the stand-by game to play when I don't want to deal with the BS that other games put in that do not make technological sense. This game is well thought out and will be with me for a long long time.

Terrifically well thought out and I look forward to maxing out my unlocks!

### 4/5 — Very engaging tower defense game!

*2013-03-07, version 1.2*

I like the take this game has on tower defense, being in space and all. The upgrades are great, the graphics are great and a variety of towers and such.
One thing that irritates me though is that when I hit the home button, my game state is not saved.... I know, just don't hit the home button, however, a calendar event reminder has the same effect :(
Also, it is a little confusing about what the "track" is. I learned by trial and error and it isn't a big deal, but on some levels, the ships don't even "fly" on the platform... they just fly around it.
But over all, a great game and well worth the $$.

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2011-05-04, version 1.2*

This is the best tower defense-type game in the AppStore. Period. The graphics are beautiful, the gameplay is fun and challenging, and there is just enough complexity added to make things interesting. Great job guys!

### 5/5 — Awesome!

*2010-11-30, version 0*

An incredible game. The graphics in this game are among the best I've seen on the iPad--pixel perfect for sure. Great music in this game as well. Some welcome improvements in the latest version, it's great to see the devs listening to users and posting regular updates.

This latest version added something I was hoping for, an indicator of the tower rank. Thanks guys!

Over just a very fun game, highly recommended.

### 4/5 — Great game but no real story

*2010-11-25, version 0*

This game is fantastic. My only issue is that I wish there was more of a story. I realize a story isn't required but even PvZ has some story and unlocks as you go to keep you engaged.

Don't get me wrong this game is fantastic for all the reasons everyone has stated but I can't give is a "perfect" score.

Can't wait for some updates!!

### 5/5 — Starfall

*2010-11-23, version 0*

One of e most engaging TD defense games ever. Once the campaign is complete though you need more difficulty levels. Graphics are incredible. If you like TD games this is a must have.

### 5/5 — Excellent game

*2010-11-13, version 0*

I have played this game all the way to the end on casual, and loved it. I am now working through normal difficulty.

One thing I have to mention is that I had a problem with one level not letting me place towers and the developer responded immediately with a patch. Just awesome.

### 4/5 — STILL CRASHING

*2010-11-09, version 0*

Every time I try to play, it crashes after 15 minutes. So whenever I'm in the middle of a level, and I have a flawless defense network, it crashes. Right when I'm about to win! It gets sooo annoying. Please fix this. But other than that, the gameplay is the best in the market (:

### 5/5 — Finally

*2010-11-04, version 0*

Tower defense the way it should be! Download after download, money and free, finally with Starfall HD you get it all. Well done, definitely one of my top 3 favorite games for iPad hands down.

### 5/5 — Needs to be updated !!

*2010-11-02, version 0*

Update******** I can now give this game 5 stars!! Thanks devs for updating the app and issuing the fix. Have played the game without issue since the update!

I would also give this game 5 stars easily. Great tower defense game, great ideas, great gameplay. But it crashed after several hours of gameplay and I lost all my credits and my upgrades! I was very upset, but figured that perhaps I had run low on memory. I thought the gameplay was good so I tried again- same thing happened! This is definitely a BUG which kills the experience. I play TD games for the leveling up! I will not play or recommend until it is updated. (I will also update this review once it is fixed)

### 5/5 — Awesomer and awesomer

*2010-10-28, version 0*

I love the new feedback for placing towers with regards to completely blocking the path; the enemies shooting from long range was hard to figure out at first. I have fun every time I boot this game up, and there's lots to unlock and play with.

### 4/5 — Fantastic game. Great update! New bug...

*2010-10-24, version 0*

This is one of my favorite iPad games. Great interface and smooth gameplay. This latest release however has broken the parade level. I can no longer place towers after placing the command center.

### 5/5 — Outstanding!!

*2010-10-23, version 0*

Best tower defense game there is...period! If you like Starcraft for the PC, then this is your game on the iPad. I can only hope that more maps are coming in the future. Great game guys, thanks!

### 5/5 — Great game

*2010-10-23, version 0*

This is the 2 tower game I have played. I enjoy this one a lot and very glad that the programers continue to upgrade the game.
I would like to see a "save game" function added.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Bad crash - loses all game data to a fresh start

*2010-10-05, version 0*

After about 2 or so hours of gameplay, the app crashed mid-game losing the campaign, gained credits as well as all unlocked content. The game is now back to a fresh start. Would have given 5 stars but a crash of this magnitude makes it worthless.

### 2/5 — Won't save progress!!

*2012-01-12, version 1.2*

This is a great TD game, problem is when you've played for hours and unlocked a lot of stuff you want to be able to have those unlocks when you start it back up again. I'd say I give it more stars when it gets fixed but really I just deleted it because I was so frustrated.

### 2/5 — Resets

*2010-10-10, version 0*

Great game but even after the 'critical update' it resets and forces an exit. A little frustrating to spend all that time upgrading towers, researching, and getting 'unlocks' only to lose everything with no choice but to start over.
Don't waste your money until they fix.

### 2/5 — Not very impressed

*2010-10-07, version 0*

I won survival mode (100 waves) very easily on the first map using nothing but one type of turret. After fully upgrading the miniguns not one of the 100 waves made it more than maybe 70% through the maze I had created. It seems ridiculous that you only start with one type of turret and that this one type seems to be all you really need. This essentially proves that there isn't much strategy to how turrets are used in this game.

The maps are awkward, the game design itself isn't very good. I feel like I've lost $5.

### 2/5 — Needs a lot of work.

*2010-10-04, version 0*

It has the possibility to be great, but not by any means is it right now. It has many glaring bugs such as the power plants and glaring pathing issues for the enemy. But my biggest gripe is the campaign, the levels just end SO quickly. You never have time to develop a large strategy. I'm looking forward to the fixes, and that's why I'll check for an update often.

### 3/5 — Good TD but gets tedious

*2013-05-13, version 1.2*

I've played this game for over a week now and while I like it, there is very little replay value to it. The graphics and coding are solid. On an iPad 4 I've not had a single crash. There was a time that the frame rate became choppy, but nothing that a restart wouldn't solve. The graphics are HD quality although not when you zoom in.

I like the design of the game. It reminds me a little of Starcraft and Total Annihilation (a game I really miss playing). That being said, I wish there was more variety to the levels. Personally, I think it would be great to have different 'terrestrial' levels. I find the metal landscape look gets tiresome really quickly. There are only 6 different Defense towers, but only three of them are unique. The other three are just beefy versions of their originals. It would be great if there were more.

There are a lot of TD games in the iOS store, but this definitely stands out among them. I like that you can put your towers wherever you want. I also like that its a pay once game - no 'freemium' nickel and diming here. The biggest issues to me are the lack of variety with the level designs, a small set of towers and little replay ability once you've achieved all of the tower upgrades. None of these issues though have to be deal breakers. A solid update or two would make this an easy 5 stars.

### 3/5 — Keeps crashing

*2011-12-07, version 1.2*

Anyone else having trouble with it crashing on iOS 5.x... I really enjoy the game when it doesn't crash on me. Developers, please fix this and I will change to 5 stars.

### 3/5 — Good until you get to the higher levels

*2011-01-06, version 1.12*

This is a great game, on the casual level. Great build up and challenges. However, get to the medium and hard levels and forget playing . The hard levels are impossible to work, even trying all the tricks and techniques. I have been working on the same hard level for months now and I can't get it done. Too bad that there isn't any new towers or advantages to buy or achieve. You end up running out of firepower and then you are done. Wish the developers would work on the higher levels giving us who play all the time some help.

### 3/5 — Slick, but not strategic.

*2010-12-06, version 0*

Pros: The game is designed well, looks good, and is extremely fluid.

Cons: The maps are boring and the pathing AI is silly. As far as strategy and tower placements, this game is pretty straight forward, nothing seems that much better than anything else; there's no sense of "I need this over that." Just stick to a laser beam and upgrade it, you've beat the game.

More cons: the levels take too freakin' long to complete, and there's no complexity to the enemy units like Plants vs Zombies. Some ships have a higher HP than others, and some are faster. Meh.

On second thought, maybe my 3 stars was too high.

Skip this game, buy PvZ again instead, or just buy a coffee.

### 3/5 — Great potential, still

*2010-10-23, version 0*

The update added a lot, and I'm happy with it because it fixed all my issues from before. However, because of past issues (the ship mapping that was just fixed) I have the upgrade which allows you to place your Command Center wherever you want at the beginning of the game. It's a great upgrade and I recommend it even if you didn't have that issue, but something weird just happened which I think is caused by it:

There's a campaign level that has three strips of useable land, the fattest strip being in the middle. For some reason, no matter where I place my command center, I can't place any towers. So I'm stuck there until i can figure out how to actually place towers because the ships simple fly to the piece of land closest to the CC and bomb from there, even if it's a "long shot"

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Picked it back up

*2021-06-02, version 1.72*

I can’t see the bottom anymore. Love to see a new version I wish!

### 5/5 — Developers still supporting this app after all these years!

*2018-11-19, version 1.61*

Can’t believe this app is still being supported! With that kind of dedication I can’t help but support you guys. Release something new and I’ll buy it!

### 5/5 — Great TD, but....

*2014-10-12, version 1.2*

This game is great. However I do have a question for the developers. Why did you practically hide the control for changing game difficulty, and where is the downloadable content?

### 5/5 — Best TD Game... more maps please!

*2013-09-28, version 1.2*

This is, by far, the best TD game made for the iPad. I have been playing it for over a year now. The graphics are good, the layout is tidy and user friendly, and the game is challenging and makes you plan. My one gripe is that there have never, to my knowledge, been more maps made and there is no way for users to create their own maps. Starfall 2 is just not as good. It got cutesy with the graphics, unit layout is more difficult, etc. This game is about strategy and that is what I want. Now I would like a way to continue to play with new and different maps. I would PAY for these.... Wink, wink. I like the neat tech additions of Starfall 2 as well. Perhaps the creators will update their classic game at some point. They'd get my coin again, that's for sure.

If you are looking for a TD game, stop looking. Just click buy. You won't regret it....

### 5/5 — Grows on you.

*2013-02-10, version 1.2*

First thought its was an OK game. Started playing and it really grows on you. A real good way to pass the time away. Fast forward helps to spread things up. Nice strategy game for everyone!

### 5/5 — Amazing game, worth the price!

*2012-08-02, version 1.2*

A nice turret defense (TD) with smooth graphics, nice sound fx and music, ability to upgrade units, unlock able upgrades (based on points earned and not in app purchase). It has a style that is all its own, though I wouldn't say star craft style unless you mean the TD maps from broodwar.

### 5/5 — Finally

*2012-04-21, version 1.2*

I have been looking for a good strategic game for a while now after I had deleted the others but now with this game the play is endless with the skirmishes and really they did a great job over all from graphics to game play. It 100% is worth the $5. Awesome!

### 5/5 — TD At Its Best

*2012-01-22, version 1.2*

I have over 40 TD games and 500+ games, most were paid games. And this is my top 3, up there with Fieldrunner. Everything is well balanced and feel right. I love the graphics! Hands up to the developers. I wish there are more levels though.

### 5/5 — One of the better tower defense games for iPad 2

*2011-08-15, version 1.2*

I've played through 125+ waves on one mission, where hundreds of enemies were attacking without any slow down. Nice upgrades. Nice tower variety. Research seems like a plus. No crashes so far, but I always close all background tasks using the double-click on the home button before playing. Overall, excellent game.

### 5/5 — Love it

*2011-06-09, version 1.2*

Great gameplay. Clean interface. Very challenging even at medium level. I just keep coming back to play more.
