## What is Stratosphere Cloud Reverb?

STRATOSPHERE CLOUD REVERB is an audio unit plugin effect inspired by the Cloud Reverb patch in a very well-loved modern classic reverb pedal. It has the following unique features:

ONSET TIME

Most reverbs have a pre-delay setting that delays the onset of early reverb a little bit so that the beginning of each note in the dry signal can be heard clearly before the reverb starts. Stratosphere Cloud Reverb does it differently: the reverb starts immediately with a low volume and fades in after the note attack with adjustable fade length called onset time, which replaces the pre-delay setting found on other reverbs. This is nice because it doesn't leave an unnatural empty space between the note attack and the onset of reverb but it still keeps the early reverb volume low so that the note attacks can be heard clearly.

HIGH ECHO DENSITY

Reverb effects typically take some time to build up echo density, meaning that the first few milliseconds of echoes sound a bit grainy. This reverb is designed with exceptionally high echo density right from the onset of the earliest reflections.

STEREO MODULATION

Once you get beyond the early echoes, many reverb effects are simply a wash of evenly distributed, smooth sound. That isn't necessarily bad, but when working with long decay times it's much more interesting if there is movement in the late echoes. Stratosphere Cloud Reverb has two stages of LFO modulated pan effects and two stages of chorus modulation applied to the late reverb signal, giving it a big, wide stereo sound with gentle and complex side-to-side motion. The depth of these effects is adjustable using the mod control.

LONG DECAY TIME

The longest echoes found in natural spaces last about 10 seconds. Long reverb like that can be observed in stone cathedrals. Similarly, reverb effects that are going for a natural type of sound often limit their decay time to a maximum of 10 seconds because artificial reverb can build up unpleasant resonances if allowed to ring too long. This plugin has a max decay time of 50 seconds, long enough for the most wet ambient music, and it maintains a beautiful, smooth sound throughout that entire time.

## Key features

### 1/5 — Unable to Use on Updated M1 MBP

*2025-09-02*

I have written to support for help with no response. I purchased to used on project and it will not run in LOGIC PRO. Tried uninstall and reinstall to no avail. Please fix or issue refund, thank you

### 5/5 — Sounds fantastic- incompatible with n-Track

*2024-02-11*

This is my favorite sounding reverb. I love all the Mani consulting Blue Mangoo apps. Unfortunately they don’t stay within my daw n-track pro. I’ve reached out to both developers (the reverb needs to be reloaded from scratch each time I open the daw) and haven’t had progress in years. It’s too bad because I’d use this all the time if it functioned like other AUv3 effects.

### 3/5 — Disappointing

*2023-09-20*

The goal here is admirable: emulate the Cloud setting from a very famous reverb pedal (hint: it’s Big and looks like the Sky).

I own both the HW and plug-in version of the original, and this doesn’t sound like Cloud. At all. Now, it’s not a bad reverb unto itself. But it’s not nearly as good as the Stry…damn, I almost gave it away.

Unfortunately, the plug-in is buggy. Left alone in a bus track in AUM, it will inevitably start to make a terrible buzzing noise that is impossible to stop unless you reinstantiate the plug-in.

Anyway, it’s a decent reverb but it’s not anywhere close to what it’s emulating.

3/5 stars.

### 5/5 — Go to verb

Beautiful sounding reverb that lives up the the cloud reverb hype. Surprisingly versatile. The onset feature is really special. It really does sound better than pre-delay; I find myself using longer onset times than I ever would with a pre-delay. I guess that fade in idea works!

### 5/5 — Love This Reverb

*2020-12-13*

For pluck instruments or pluck-like sounds I often find myself choosing this reverb over Eventide’s Blackhole - the ‘onset time’ parameter is cool. I also like how long this reverb can get to and it still sounds great. I first came across this app through Jacob Haq and I’m glad I did, it’s great for ambient soundscapes. The developer created a really nice reverb with a minimal uncluttered interface.

### 5/5 — Pedale perfetto !

*2020-11-17*

Eccellente riverbero, suoni perfetti dalle più semplici configurazioni di ambiente alle più complesse.Facilità di uso e grafica/immagine impeccabili.Complimenti !

### 5/5 — Super simple Super good

I wanted nice sounding expansive soundscapes, I bought this for less than an underground ticket to Hamstead and it is just so smooth and brilliantly vast ...its a keeper

### 2/5 — Bugs

*2020-08-10*

Annoying bug, making the sound very loud randomly

### 4/5 — Offers something unique

*2020-07-27*

IOS is not short of reverbs, so why buy this one? The answer is because it offers something the others don’t. Check out the various YouTube demos to hear the difference, especially the Jacob Haq one. The only thing that needs to be added is a way to turn off the automatic panning. Sort out that issue, and it’s an essay 5 star app.

## Frequently asked questions about Stratosphere Cloud Reverb

### What makes Stratosphere Cloud Reverb's onset time unique?

Unlike traditional pre-delay, Stratosphere Cloud Reverb's onset time allows the reverb to start immediately at a low volume and fade in after the note attack. This provides a more natural transition without an empty space between the dry signal and the reverb.

### How does Stratosphere Cloud Reverb achieve high echo density?

### What kind of stereo movement does Stratosphere Cloud Reverb offer?

Stratosphere Cloud Reverb features two stages of LFO-modulated panning and two stages of chorus modulation applied to the late reverb signal. This creates a wide stereo image with gentle, complex side-to-side motion, adjustable via the mod control.
