Stratus Insight is a full electronic flight bag (EFB) suite for pilots that includes AHRS with synthetic vision, TAWS, VFR sectional maps, IFR low/high charts, and geo-referenced approach plates. Please note, this app only supports airports and approach plates for US ONLY. We don't have worldwide data available at this time. More than an EFB, Stratus Insight also offers: Internet Traffic Follow along and monitor ADS-B traffic from the ground. Enable this overlay and watch as traffic is shown in real-time on the map. Radio Transcription & Playback Stratus Insight boasts a custom-built speech recognition system inside the app. When paired with a Stratus Audio Cable, the ATC Radio Transcription feature works similar to visual voicemail. ATC communications are converted into text, providing a helpful visual assist for referencing previous audio clips. This enables pilots to receive a clearance, ATIS, or other important ATC communications without needing to write them down Vertical Weather Profile The Vertical Weather Profile previews your route in the vertical slice from departure to destination, up to eight days out, so you can see the conditions you’ll encounter based on your departure time, aircraft speed, and each intermediate airport. Submit PIREPs online Running into some light chop? Submit a PIREP directly from the app to help your fellow pilots. This feature is unique only to Stratus Insight. Smart Flight Plan If a TFR or changes in weather force you to take an alternate route, the Smart Flight Plan tool considers things like fuel stops and day/night currency. Documents Store and organize all your required flight documents in one place. Uses iCloud to save and sync your documents between devices. Radar Forecast Radar Forecast provides long-term weather radar simulations up to three days out, and you can fast forward your weather radar in one-hour increments. However there are a couple features on my wishlist. 1. Glide Range. It would be so cool to calibrate your range by recording a real life glide. 2. A web interface for planning would be awesome but I know a ton of work. 3. It’s easy to click on airports when zoomed out or very close, but at mid zoom it’s impossible to click on them which is really frustrating. **Developer response:** Thanks for the kind words. Cheers! ### 1/5 — DO NOT DOWNLOAD IN CANADA *2024-11-26, version 6.1.2* This app is no good in Canada as per the other review. There is no way to cancel the subscription in the app. Haven’t been able to get my money back from Apple. Have to go to credit card company next. ### 1/5 — Not Canadian *2024-04-28, version 5.33.9* Sold in the Canadian App Store, but no Canadian charts. 1-star for this uselessness. Change the app and add Canadian charts and the review can be changed. Will update if anything does. ### 2/5 — Kind of meh *2023-08-25, version 5.30* Support for Hawaii is abysmal. There’s no option to load the high resolution IFR sectional. Victor airways in Hawaii do not work — if you plug one in then your flight path jumps thousands of miles to the continental US and back. Oceanic tracks (R464 etc) are not recognized at all. Aside from the Hawaii specific issues, it is not possible to shortcut direct to a fix during an arrival or departure route. The app also seemingly hasn’t changed at all since its release as Aerovie years ago. Abandonware? Update 8/2023: still pretty useless for Hawaii. No way to tell it to use the local V20 instead of the one in Texas 🤦 ### 1/5 — Ruined new version *2023-07-31, version 5.28* I’ve been using this app for about 3 years and it’s been great. Right before EAA AirVenture 2023 they put out a terrible new release making it impossible to file a flight plan. You enter in data to the flight plan manager and it doesn’t update the map. Impossible to file a flight plan so make to calling flight service. Anyway, don’t buy this, it’s going down hill. And it’s not safe. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t accept no home number on sign up *2023-05-19, version 5.24* What a stupid first screen. Asks for a phone number, but doesn’t accept it or even ask for the country or area code. Is this an app that assumes everyone is on the US? ### 2/5 — Doesn’t work well, especially for the price *2023-03-10* The Apple Watch part of this app just flat doesn’t work, trying to view radar crashes it, it needs the iPhone and isn’t remotely stand alone, NRST plus Windy does everything this tries to do, better and a fraction of the price On the iPhone, it’s just clunky and for the price point its too close to foreflight prices, if I want to save money fltplango is free and better **Developer response:** We apologize for the issues with the Apple Watch. Thanks for leaving a review. ### 4/5 — Flight plan and landscape *2022-10-22, version 5.20* Have been using for couple years, nice app. It fails to open flight plans and lack of landscape orientation for iPhone are my two issues. ### 1/5 — Broken onboarding *2022-10-01, version 5.20* The app opens on a rather nosey account creation screen that won’t accept phone numbers that have more than 10 digits. But at the end you’re rewarded with a “Account cannont be created’ error message. We also leverage your iCloud storage to back up and save your files and allow them to sync between devices. Now all your necessary documents can be in one place, right when you need it.
