## What is StreamRight?

StreamItRight is a beautifully designed internet radio player that plays any online audio stream — community stations, college broadcasts, global music services, talk shows, and more. If you have a stream URL, StreamItRight will play it.

No sign-ups. No subscriptions. No ads. Open the app, paste a link, and listen.

HOW IT WORKS

Add a stream in seconds. Tap "+", name your station, paste the stream URL, and it appears as a one-tap shortcut on your home screen.

Tap to play, instantly. StreamItRight connects, buffers just enough audio for smooth playback, and starts. A pre-buffer progress bar shows exactly when sound will begin — no mystery spinners.

A stunning Now Playing experience. The full-screen player shows what's playing in real time. When a station broadcasts song metadata, StreamItRight displays the artist and track, and fetches album artwork automatically.

A lively now-playing screen. An animated visual pulses while audio is playing, giving the player a sense of motion and a clear at-a-glance sign that your stream is live.

Listen everywhere. Full lock screen and Control Center controls. Works with AirPlay, Bluetooth headphones, and standard audio accessories. Keeps playing in the background while you use other apps.

WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT

Most radio apps lock you into their own directory, push ads, or require an account. StreamItRight plays your streams, whatever they are, with no strings attached.

Under the hood it's built for resilience. Live streams are fragile — connections drop, servers hiccup, networks change. StreamItRight monitors the connection and reconnects automatically with exponential backoff, detects Wi-Fi/cellular switches and retries immediately, resumes after system interruptions, and uses a watchdog timer to revive streams that silently stall. You press play, and the music keeps going.

## Version history (last 2 releases)

### 1.0.1 — 2026-08-15

**A new look, everywhere**
• Redesigned home screen: a large title with a soft, slowly drifting colour
wash behind it, station cards with their own colour and waveform signature,
and a live equaliser on whichever station is on air.
• Now Playing rebuilt around the artwork. The backdrop takes its tint from the
cover art of the current track and shifts as the music changes — always kept
  readable, never garish.
• Eight refreshed themes, each with a full, consistent palette — Midnight Neon,
Sunset Glow, Forest Green, Monochrome, Ocean Teal, Electric Violet, Soft
  Sakura and Retro Terminal.
• A cleaner Settings screen and a new Add / Edit Station sheet with clearer
  fields and stream-format hints.

**Better artwork**
• Cover art now comes from the station first: ICY StreamUrl, then the station's
own now-playing API (AzuraCast is detected automatically), and only then a
best-guess search. Station-published art always wins over a guess.
• Stock "no cover" placeholders are recognised and skipped instead of showing
  a grey square.

**A real meter**
• The visualiser now has hardware-style ballistics — fast attack, slow release,
peak hold — and responds to what's happening: it moves while you're playing,
sags while the stream rebuffers, and rests when paused.
• No more audio-capture hooks: the meter no longer needs any microphone or
  audio-session permission.

**Polish**
• Persistent mini player with a single clear play/pause and a subtle progress
  hairline while connecting.
• Consistent spacing, type and corner radii across every screen.
• Assorted fixes to metadata handling and artwork loading.
