Refuses to stop playing annoying sound effects dispite sound effect setting being turned off. ### 3/5 — Does not work on T-Mobile *2019-09-02* Audio does not load on T-Mobile cellular connections. Loads fine on WiFi. I have to start the audio on home WiFi when leaving the house, and switch to cellular. Overall, I'm not sure it was worth the $5 price tag but willing to stick with it for now. There are a couple things that are bringing my rating of the app down: 1) No ability to select stream bitrate. This is mitigated by the ability to add your own stream addresses (bizarrely, this is done via the share panel). 2) Short buffer time with no (obvious) way to adjust. I live in an area with generally excellent and fast cell service but there are a couple spots on my commute where I lose LTE signal for a few seconds. Since I use this exclusively for streaming in the car (hence the requirement for CarPlay support because I don't want to fiddle with my phone while driving) having a buffer of more than a couple seconds is very desirable. ### 4/5 — Needs Chromecast audio support *2015-11-28, version 6.0.4* Please add support for Chromecast Audio to stream to my AV receiver as you are far better than TuneIn Radio except in this area. ### 5/5 — Low station count but great audio quality *2015-09-19, version 6.0.4* There is a better codec in this player than most others. The sound quality it reproduces is superior because of that codec. It's amazing what the correct codec (audio decoder) will do. There is a way to manually add stations, but it's pretty odd. The average iPhone user probably won't figure it out, even if they know the specific stream address. I'd try to make it easier to enter info as the listed stations are pretty thin. ### 2/5 — 途切れてしまう、の件。 *2015-09-18* 最近、途切れて、再生されることが、度々有ります、なんとかなりませんでしょうか。 iOS9にしたら、すぐ落ちます。 ### 5/5 — Ideal in car radio app *2014-10-15, version 6.0.1* There are a few things that set this app apart as the best radio app for me to use in my car: - Landscape mode: I can't believe how hard it is to find a radio app that works in landscape. My phone (6 Plus) is mounted in my car in landscape so this was almost essential. - Custom URL support: I don't want to chew up my data allowance with 112kbps MP3 streams, this app allows me to add the 24 or 48 Kbps aac+ streams that I like - these also drop out less in marginal signal areas. - Metadata decoding: I like to know what song is playing, this app shows me in an easy to read format. - Track tagging: If I like a song I will usually take a screenshot and buy it when I get home. That's difficult to do while driving, but with 2 taps this app will add the song to a list for me to check on later. The only things I can think of to improve the app are: - Automatically start playback when opening the app. - Show album artwork more clearly in landscape mode. - Option for slightly larger buttons and text to make car usage easier. For the radio it is the best app for getting internet Radio in my opinion. EC Tuner does have this function but it is messy. This app works well. 2 things I would change. 1) Why a Golden Labrador on the emblem.. It's not particularly cool when your pulling the app up in your car. 2) It would be much handier if, like in other apps, when the phone is disconnected from the speakers (via lightning connection), the App automatically stopped playing. It's irritating that I have to disconnect, then go in to the phone and turn the app off from there. However, quality is ok, not excellent. Thumbs Down. *2013-09-16, version 5.4.1* What the heck has been up with this app lately? I managed to find one or two stations that work, but many no longer work and I have both the iPad and iPhone versions. Both yielding the same results. This used to be my favourite radio app, but now it has become completely useless. Mr. Greg Ogonowski, it's time to fix this app now! I have patiently waited for bugs to get sorted out through several updates and it only seems to be getting worse. Fewer and fewer stations are working. Versatile. Also a useful tool for pros. No sign-in or account needed, no monthly fees, no busy screens with promotional junk. I like its clean look. This player can retrieve cover art using the station’s artist and title info, even if the station isn’t sending cover art data. Looks cool on the dashboard. I can drive around town and thanks to HLS, can listen to lossless or AAC encoded streams without dropouts using this player on my iPhone with CarPlay. Tip: For best quality, connect with a cable to avoid additional Bluetooth lossy compression. I also like that you can find a stream’s bitrate and other tech info on the player’s “Geek Info” page. Now, here’s a more technical part of my review from my perspective as a broadcast engineer. The StreamS HiFi Radio player is from the same company that makes the excellent standards-based streaming encoders that my stations use, so they definitely get the player right. It supports xHE-AAC, which delivers surprising quality at low bitrates. When using cellular, the player conserves data usage by selecting the lowest available bitrate, and when on WiFi picks the highest rate for best quality. A feature, not a bug. (Most HLS streams have different bitrate streams available for the same program.) Of course, if you select a lossless stream, it plays lossless, even if using cellular. And if you want to always play a particular high bitrate stream, you can custom-enter the URL of the desired bitrate HLS variant, and save it to Favorites, as I have done for our dozens of variants. Sure, you will have to know this info, but some broadcasters publish it on their websites, or you could ask them. In addition to providing high quality entertainment that is beyond broadcast quality, it’s a reference-quality player. It’s an accurate and useful tool for me, since it can show technical details of the streams. I purchased it personally (for me, it’s worth many times its price), and I was not compensated for this review. ### 5/5 — Engineering *2022-08-06* If you know anything about streaming you know this is the only app needed for audio streaming. ### 5/5 — This app is awesome. *2022-07-11* I’ve own this app for over 10 years. It’s one of the best. It’s my goto music app for live radio. Great audio quality and very reliable. It was almost like it had turned into a supercharged stereo. The station list of radio stations from around the globe is impressive. The nice thing, they all work!
