## What is Street Grader?

Know what a street is really like before you move there.

Street Grader gives every street, postcode and neighbourhood in England and Wales a grade from A+ to C, built from official open data on safety, living standards, schools, amenities, green space and transport. Search a town, village, street or postcode, or tap Near me at a viewing, and see how it compares.

WHY STREET GRADER
• One national scale. An A+ in Cornwall means the same as an A+ in Cardiff.
• A colour-coded map shows the strongest streets in any town at a glance.
• Built only from official sources: the police, Ofsted, HM Land Registry, the Census, the Environment Agency and more.
• Fast, and grades work even with no signal.

FREE, WITH NO ACCOUNT NEEDED
• Overall grade plus sub-grades for Safety, Living standards, Schools, Amenities, Green space and Transport
• The map: every neighbourhood and street coloured by its grade. Tap one for a quick summary
• Near me: the grade for the spot you're standing on, with a short summary of why
• Crime levels and trends, typical house prices by property type, the council's average rent, and a flood risk flag for every area
• The nearest primary and secondary school with their latest Ofsted judgement
• Street View and house or rental listings for any street
• Best places in each county or near you, ranked by the things you pick
• What matters to you: pages put your priorities first, and a short quiz finds places to match
• Save up to 10 places, and compare any two side by side
• Optional account (Sign in with Apple or an email code) to sync your saved places and recent searches across devices
• Optional notifications for news and your account, all kept in one place in the app

STREET GRADER PLUS (OPTIONAL SUBSCRIPTION)
Plus goes deeper on every area:
• Street reports: Census facts for your street, a crime map with hotspots, recent sales, value for money and broadband
• Crime map and breakdown by type and by month
• Planning applications nearby, with each timeline
• The council HMO register (licensed shared houses), where it's published
• Neighbour, noise, flood and crime map layers
• Price trends, and average rents by number of bedrooms
• Every nearby school with its Ofsted judgement and exam results, plus private schools
• Unlimited saved places, more lists to share, and comparing up to four at once

Plus is available as a monthly or yearly subscription, and the yearly plan starts with a free trial for new subscribers. You don't need an account to subscribe. Payment is charged to your Apple ID. The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel it any time in your App Store account settings.

HOW GRADES WORK
Each neighbourhood is ranked nationally on six measures, then combined: Safety 30%, Living standards 40%, Schools 10%, Amenities 10%, Green space 5%, Transport 5%. A high flood risk lowers the overall grade. Grades follow a curve: most places are B or B+, and A+ and C are rare. A C doesn't mean a bad place to live. It means the area scores lower than most on these particular measures.

THE DATA
Police recorded crime, the English Indices of Deprivation 2025 and Welsh Index of Multiple Deprivation 2025, Ofsted and Department for Education school data, HM Land Registry prices, ONS rents and Census 2021, Ordnance Survey, OpenStreetMap, NHS and Food Standards Agency registers, bus timetables and NaPTAN stops, Defra and Welsh Government noise maps, and Environment Agency and Natural Resources Wales flood data. The full list, with dates, is in the app and at streetgrader.com/sources.

PRIVACY
No ads and no tracking. Near me rounds your location to about 100 yards before it leaves your phone, and we don't keep it.

Grades are general information from open data, not property, financial or legal advice. Covers England and Wales only.
