### 3/5 — Overly Sensitive and makes assumptions

*2026-07-17, version 3.0.1*

I object to the fact that an app has no idea what is actually happening. For instance I was marked down for hard braking (the reason was a semi pulled right in front of me forcing me to brake hard, reacting I check the second lane and accelerated to go around and I was “”dinged” by the application. I have a dash cam to prove this but the app just lowered by discount and score without knowing the facts. If you drive a I 80 you know how aggressive truckers can be.

### 4/5 — Rhody Roads

*2026-05-21, version 3.0.1*

Drive Safely

### 4/5 — Rating

*2026-05-08, version 3.0.1*

The problem with the app is that it’s too sensitive and breaking, especially if you’re using the adaptable cruise and a vehicle breaks harder than you would if you were in the control of the breaking, also you can get whacked for speeding just because you didn’t lower your speed quick enough when the speed zones were changed, still needs a little tweaking

### 4/5 — Sometimes Too Sensitive

*2026-05-07, version 3.0.1*

Sometimes I get a hard brake when there was no hard brake. They told me I had the iPhone in the wrong position. WTF

### 3/5 — Hard Braking needs better programming

*2026-04-28, version 3.0.1*

This app is pretty good overall. The only issue is the hard braking measurement. My friend and I have been testing it, and it’s not consistent. Many times, what we considered normal braking was flagged by Street Smart as hard braking. The current programming doesn’t seem realistic.

### 5/5 — Traveler

*2026-04-25, version 3.0.1*

Nice angel to have on your shoulder for gentle reminders to keep you safe.

### 5/5 — The best app ever

*2026-04-23, version 3.0.1*

The most important and helpful insurance app.

### 5/5 — Fun safety training!

*2026-04-11, version 3.0.1*

Love using it

### 4/5 — Mostly good

*2026-04-01, version 3.0.1*

Every once in a while they make a mistake, but you can object and they will check it out. I think they are too hasty with dinging you for braking: I have a couple of lights that are quicker turning than normal and there have been times that another driver cut me off; I still get dinged (even though a quick breaking is better than an accident!)

### 5/5 — Rewards

*2026-04-01, version 3.0.1*

Very good but what do I have to do to get my rewards active again?

### 5/5 — Accurate Monitoring

*2026-03-28, version 3.0.1*

Easy to use, not as ultra sensual other driving apps and seems very accurate

### 5/5 — Get Out of the Way!!!

*2026-03-27, version 3.0.1*

The 95N and 95S. Lanes are impossible to drive at 55mph in slowest lane, unless you want to be rear-ended!

### 5/5 — good

*2026-03-26, version 3.0.1*

good

### 4/5 — StreetSmart

*2026-03-24, version 3.0.1*

J.Albany

### 4/5 — More fun than you’d expect

*2026-03-24, version 3.0.1*

When I first downloaded the app, the sensitive to braking was annoying. After a while though the score adjusts to seem reasonable and you even start to challenge yourself on drives - almost like a live video game making the app more fun than expected.

### 5/5 — Great App to Drive More Safely

*2026-03-19, version 3.0.1*

Keeps me on track

### 5/5 — David

*2026-03-16, version 3.0.1*

It’s a good app keeps you driving safely

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Stupid hard braking algorithm

*2026-04-08, version 3.0.1*

Overly sensitive to braking. Example, Today I got hard braking of 25 mph in 5 seconds. Yep driving down my street and 61 yards from my driveway I started to slow down. That was pretty reckless of me. Should have started my deceleration at least a football field away. Stupid.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work properly

*2026-04-07, version 3.0.1*

Had a notification of “hard braking” when brakes weren’t even applied. Immediately deleted this as it will not accurately reflect the true driving. Very suspicious and not worth being tracked

### 1/5 — This app sucks

*2026-03-15, version 3.0.1*

The app is too sensitive. It constantly says I’m using my phone when I’m driving. If you drive in a populated area, the app does not work. If you have to deal with pedestrians, construction, other drivers, homeless people, animals etc. You are penalized for avoiding accidents. Let’s say a homeless guy jumps off the curb and you use your brakes instead of running him over, you are penalized as being a bad driver.

### 1/5 — Hard braking is measured inaccurately

*2026-03-10, version 3.0.1*

This would be a great app if they calibrated it properly. You can speed all you want, it will barely affect the score. Stop for a traffic light in a controlled way and it will consider it hard braking and destroy your score. As long as you run traffic lights and swerve instead of stopping for obstacles, you’ll do fine with this app. If the app misreads a single “hard braking” event on your trip, the trip score goes from 5-star to 1-star. It makes no sense.

### 1/5 — Not built for my job

*2025-09-23, version 3.0.1*

Its great for the average driver. I sadly am not the average driver as my job is a bit different for driving, even after marking my drives it still messes with my over all score. This app is not consistent nor does it detect the drive very well. I have been flagged on my off work days as hard braking or speeding when I wasn't doing either.

### 1/5 — Surely a joke?

*2025-09-12, version 3.0.1*

I have no problem being judged on speeding or use of the phone when driving, but this app only rewards you if you don’t use your brakes suddenly. But emergency breaking is something that is often needed, when children or animals run into the street, a cop makes a sudden U-turn after switching on the sirens, another driver runs a red light or fails to yield, the list goes on, especially in Las Vegas were so many people just don’t know how to drive properly. New cars even have automated emergency breaking which is a benefit, not a weakness.

So apparently the only way to maintain a high score in this app is to swerve dangerously rather than ever apply your brakes with even a medium level of force. That’s actually discouraging safe driving, not encouraging it.

### 1/5 — Scam for low mileage drivers

*2025-08-15, version 3.0.1*

I was told multiple times by Amica reps that knew my driving history that this could lower my premium 15-20%. I got nothing, even with good driving habits. Final answer was I don’t drive enough (approx 3,000/yr) and that I needed to drive a lot more to get a discount. So I feel penalized for biking and taking the bus and my data was basically taken for nothing. I was fine with some of my driving habits being known but only for a reasonable discount. Not a happy camper and removing app from my phone. Lastly app tracks you all the time and you can’t use the function “only when in use”

### 1/5 — Are you driving?

*2025-06-11, version 3.0.1*

Amica claims the app with reduce your premiums however our experience is otherwise. Note, you have the burden to always navigate to the app (which is time consuming since its a repetitive nuisance) to mark that you are a passenger. Otherwise the driver (uber/lyft driver, spouse, kid, bus driver) will be recorded under your streetwise account. So, if you are on a bus trip, the bus driver’s driving will be recorded under you!

### 1/5 — Bad app

*2025-06-07, version 3.0.1*

Terrible app thinks every time my phone is touched from another object or a friend that it’s “distracted driving”. You have to slow down like 50yds before the light or it’s a hard break. Litteraly terrible.

### 1/5 — Generally, acceptable. HORRIBLE at proper weighing of hard braking

*2025-03-06, version 2.1.0*

It is so sad to give an app that is generally 4 or 5 stars a 1 star, but that is sadly a proper reflection of this app.

The good things: the user interface is easy to navigate. I love that the app gives you an estimate of your insurance discount and that there are gift card rewards for reaching certain milestones (like 25 drives distraction free). App is generally well constructed.

The damning thing: the way the app balances the three driving criteria is borderline criminal. The three criteria are: distraction free, speeding, hard brakes. Nothing wrong here so far. HOWEVER, ONE hard brake will give you a 1 star rating for the hard brake category. And this 1 hard brake would register in the following situations: A) your green light turns yellow at the last minute and you don’t want to illegally run the red light, so you slow down quickly, but still under complete control B) you stop at a stop sign that was around the corner and not visible or C) some one rudely cuts in front of your on the highway and despite your proper following distance, you must hard brake to avoid hitting this intruder or D) you are going 25 mph in a neighborhood and a young child runs right in front of your car and you decide to take less than 5 seconds to stop your car to avoid killing the child. All of these situations REQUIRE a significant brake to remain safe and legal. In the above situations, your tires are not squealing. You’re not leaving marks on the road. You aren’t swerving. The car is in control.

Now, ON TOP OF THAT, your drive with one “hard bake” May include a 5 star rating for your driving speed and 5 star rating for distraction. BUT THE ONE “HARD BRAKE” REDUCES YOUR SCORE FOR THAT DRIVE TO 1 OUT OF 5 STARS AND WILL THEN PLUMMET YOUR OVERALL DRIVING SCORE 20-30 POINTS (even if you have multiple drives that are rated 5 stars for everything). Essentially, one hard brake can change your overall driving score from a good passing grade to a failing grade, even when significant braking is not your MO.

As if this wasn’t bad enough, being distracted (on your phone) for HALF of a drive will NOT impact your score nearly as much as one “hard brake”. WHY?? Distracted driving is ALWAYS bad and ALWAYS avoidable (not so with “hard brakes”). But apparently driving distracted is permissible according to StreetSmart. (Yes this did happen to me, but I was the passenger and the app thought I was the driver before I corrected it).

Fix the algorithm that determines how these things are weighed and contribute to your overall score and this app will get a 5 star review from me. It is an easy software fix guys. Come on.

### 5/5 — 1st Review

*2026-06-12, version 3.0.1*

Using this app almost feels as if there’s someone sitting on my shoulder, monitoring my driving ability and that’s not a bad thing. My only frustration is how it rates my speed because sometimes just keeping up with traffic puts me over the speed limit.
