Interesting range of tactics and enemies. ### 4/5 — Promising, but not quite ready yet *2017-10-27* I'm a big fan of the Demon's Rise games and this is clearly based on the same engine. The let downs so far have been: AI needs a polish. In Demon's Rise there was a lot of open space play and running around. This is the polar opposite with close quarters and a lot of hiding behind pillars/obstacles. Trouble is, AI is too weak so a fool proof winning tactic is to simply bunker up and stand still and wait for the enemy to wander up to you a few at a time whilst you're in standing still in strategic spots. Also, a few obvious minor but distracting bugs in both Demon's Rise and Strike Team are: 1) Click on enemy, do any action with your unit, click on enemy portrait and you end up seeing stats for YOUR unit instead of enemy. 2) in shop, pick up item, swap for another item and first item stats still show until you swap item again. A few tell-tale signs that game is not quite finished: - only one generic enemy icons in hub representing any enemy unit. - walk up close to any enemy unit (with Spectre at least) and enemy just wastes his turn running away from your unit. I'm hopeful that A LOT of work will go into a better AI. The rest of the niggles are forgivable, but for an enjoyable and challenging gameplay, it can't just be about winning by not moving. Never the less - it's an ambitious iOS strategy game and much more sophisticated than 99% of the rest of the stuff out there. Go for Demon's Rise 1 and 2 for now and wait for an update that quotes an improved AI would be my advice. Keep up the good work devs! **Developer response:** Thanks for your feedback. Yeah, I'm looking at ways to make the AI more aggressive. It currently favours finding a cover position for itself too much over attacking the enemy. I'm also looking into making it smarter about which abilities it uses so as to have it use the most optimal more often. Have you tried increasing difficulty? The added stat bonuses that enemy get at higher difficulties allows the AI to survive longer and thus get more shots back. The AI also uses abilities more aggressively at higher difficulties. Regarding the other points you mention, I'll look into them. They should be minor fixes. ### 4/5 — Demons rise in space *2017-10-01* Very good Turn-based Strategy with enough complexity to generate long term motivation but it is casual enough to grab the game for short session. That would be a great feature to add. Beyond that the gameplay is decent and the ai is pretty challenging and very entertaining. Also add a way for me to tell the characters to go into an overwatch / guard mode. If you add that 5 stars :) impressed with all you've done to get so close to xcom!!! **Developer response:** Hi, thanks for feedback. The game auto saves at the end of each turn and you can load the last save from the pause menu. The latest update will now put all units on guard if they have enough unused action points. Just click confirm at the dialog box that pops up. ### 2/5 — France *2017-08-12* Bonjour peur t on espère une traduction en français ? 😢 ### 4/5 — Demons Rise In Space w/ Guns *2017-08-08* Title says it all. If you have played demons rise by the same dev you will be familiar with the game, if not definitely check out their other titles as well. This one is the newest game and definitely needs balancing, but the great thing about this dev is they support their titles with updates. I am a little concerned as Demons Rise 2 was a watered down version of DR1 and this title seems like it's watered down further (less missions, gear, etc) however updates will hopefully add content and balance gameplay. My advice is if you haven't picked up DR1 yet, start with that and work your way up to this latest release, which by then will hopefully be updated. Overall a solid title, no buy gold/gem scams included, and built on a successful platform from their previous games. Own everything this dev has made and am happy with the purchases. While I'm concerned with watered down content, it's still far better than most of the junk being sold. Definitely worth supporting this dev, at least for now unless things get worse. ### 4/5 — Wow *2017-08-08* Amazing so far! I’m embarrassed that I paid money for this junk. All Wavelight games are the same derivative trash. Just... shameful ### 1/5 — Uses unrealistic hit %s. *2018-05-08* Does not suspend disbelief. The developer is using unrealistic hit ratios. I can be in the adjacent hex to the bad guy and miss 3 times in a row. Yet the bad guy, from 4-5 hexes away, shoots my character who is behind cover and hits them. Until that is "fixed” there’s no point in playing the game. The screen orientation is limiting as it rotates around an axis. I hate that. It’s second rate. I do like the graphics. ### 1/5 — Trop brouillon *2017-11-26* Le jeu est complexe mais trop fouilli. Equipping your team makes no sense and I kept playing the same map over and over again just with different enemies in different places. I wouldn't of minded this if the price was lower but this cannot justify the £7.99 I paid for it! As a summary this didn't feel finished and needs work! Sorry! ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — A new title *2018-12-09* Written on: December 9, 2018 I bought this game yesterday( December 8, 2018) after being a year of its release. Since i waited so long, it has increased in updates so i can review the game initially. Firstly, It seems the game is more animated this time around than the previous 2 games, ( Demons rise 1 and 2) and the graphics have been the most noticeable. Secondly, This game feels like a direct inspiration of Xcom in regards to the combat and competitiveness of the A.I down to the storyline and setting. Finally, While this game focuses on tightly controlled combat, the characters are also tightly controlled to only 12 playable characters. All in all, This game picks its paunches wises as it still gives you the sense of player freedom via the characters, but also it feels like it is a game all on its own with its firefights.. even though it feels like Xcom! Keep up the great work developers! ### 5/5 — The game gods are real *2017-09-01* Thank you so much I wanted a game just like xcom since I fin it some time ago not only did I find this gem I also found demons rise 1 and 2 and bought all of them wave light games you just got a new fan and player keep them coming.....update something very minor I notice sometimes depending on the mission layout if there multiple enemy's surrounding you and you happen to kill them all while taking cover...you sometimes get stuck and cannot move hope u can look into this and fix it i am using a iPad mini 4 so it's powerful to run the app...thx devs **Developer response:** Thanks so much for the encouragement and support. On the missions screen it doesn't show which missions you have completed and I'm at a loss as to how and where to equip the war gear you find. I'm sure that over time my rating will change to 5 stars as updates come out. Wave Light are brilliant when it comes to supporting their games. As expected the updates are coming thick and fast so it now rates 5 stars. **Developer response:** Hi, the last patch added a function where it puts a medal icon to a special mission button when you finish it. So going forward, any levels will show medal icons on the ones once you complete them. ### 5/5 — Great price for tactical game *2017-08-12* Love that people are still making "premium" games that you pay a very fair price for and get to enjoy it. Fun game with tons of missions of a nice length that are easy to pickup and play. This developer supports their games so I look forward to small fixes here and there. Played quite a few missions already and having a blast, literally! Have many types of class of characters to choose from to form a team. There's also different AI difficulty to match your style.
