My wife and I finally got to try this tonight. I am more than disappointed with the app after all the hype. The calibration does not work correctly. Even when you put the tripod so that the camera is right in front of the target, the circle still doesn’t line up correctly with the target. Super disappointed!

Not really worth money, I tried using with my AR and it was off. And then when you walk by a shadow will trigger it and say you took 5 different shorts rapidly. I bought 3 different laser and the all 3 aren’t accurate. I regret buying this and now it will just take up space. Very disappointing for the price.

I give 2 stars to this app because it will track your shots (most of the time) with the standard mode of setting shot count and then resetting. 

Outside of that it’s does not work as advertised. The pro version has “shot time” and drill capabilities but they do not work. The shot time tracker does not track your hits properly and doesn’t track your times. The in app data for a session or round is horrible. No shot times. Just says 0 and average of 0. 

Reached out to Strikeman multiple times via email and got not response. 

Go with mantis Strikeman app and customer service just is bad.

I got this as a gift and then got it for my brother so we could compete. I cannot add him or see his invite to add me. I sent in a support email and have not received any response.

Just unboxed and used this for about an hour. I carry a firearm professionally and was looking for something to get a little practice at home. 

First, the laser and app did work really well. I felt most shots were fairly accurate. No complaints there. 

My main complaint is charging a monthly subscription to get any real use out of this thing. After charging me $100+ for basically a laser pointer and some plastic, asking for a monthly subscription seems very greedy.

Also IMO training this way could result in some very dangerous habits. I found myself getting very fast at shooting then immediately racking to reset trigger. A motor skill that could kick in during an intense moment when a life is on the line. Maybe good for someone who is just learning to shoot, to get some reps at home before going to the range, but definitely not something you want to be doing often.

With the latest 12/2025 update all templates are gone and the app only recognizes 1/4 of all hits. Appears that it requires a full light on the target. No longer allows the app to be used with ambient indoor light.

Why bring out a patch to fix your app that has been crashing for over a month just for the app to still crash 💥. Quite frustrating a specially if you are paying for it.

Often has crashes on start. Works fine after a reboot though…. Doesn’t register all the hits either now with the “accuracy” mode. Usually better on fast mode.

Beware of Strikeman. If there’s an issue with the hardware that this app is used for then 

1. You won’t get money back only credit to use in their store
2. You cannot replace an incompatible cartridge but has to replace THE WHOLE SYSTEM. 
3. You can’t replace a system if your system is out-of-stock — even if you want to replace the cartridge to something that is out of stock 

It’s impossible to talk on the phone with them, they refuse to be flexible, you cannot escalate to a manager and are basically screwing you over as a customer 

If you have any issues — good luck, you will need it

The system is good, but the app only works sometimes in lower light.  For self-defense training, low light is essential training.  So you should think about how to improve the software’s low light comparability.

I just received yesterday 2 laser cartridge(.380 & .223)(I have a .40cal laser cartridge already works perfectly)they work perfectly. But the laser bore sight, nothing, no laser whatsoever I turned the batteries around, nothing. The back of the cartridge where the striker hits the cartridge looks nothing like the laser cartridges. I’m confused. What am I missing?

I’ve had this for a couple of years… it worked ok at first, but it never registers my shots or calibrates correctly. It has gone thru the various updates, but is still useless. What was a great idea has turned into a waste of money

Purchased but upon using it only gives you access to 1/3 of the product without “upgrading”!  To top that off, states it will not work unless I give them access to my contacts.  Don’t waste your time or money as they’re just looking to bait / swap then sell your information.

I have tried on 3 different phones. When it starts it just starts firing, although I haven’t even aimed at it. Can’t get the calibration to work. It worked well for about a week. I was really excited about it and it’s a complete disappointment.

I’m extremely disappointed with the purchase of this system. The accuracy of the app is less than desirable. I have tried 8 different lighting configurations and calibrated  to target no less than 20 times. Would not recommend this system to anyone.

No matter how you calibrate or position your phone or change the lighting in the room it will not accurately place your shot or it will not pick up the shot at all. Might as well use the laser without the app because it’s worthless

I bought the Strikeman cartridge set up and it worked fine for a couple of weeks. It has since stopped working. The app will not calibrate to the Strikeman target. This is true whether indoors or outdoors. I have deleted and reinstalled the app several times but it still does not recognize the target. I have tried with other phones. It still does not work. Get the mantis x2 instead.

Want to connect to Bluetooth? Too bad. You can’t unless you pay for the “Pro” version. Which buys you nothing except re-enabling Bluetooth.

Very happy with this. Just re-downloaded the app and was practicing within 5 minutes. Crazy simple and easy to use. 

I got this a while back and put it on a shelf because it seemed a little complicated. BUT, Pulled it off the shelf today, and was dry firing with 5 minutes. Calibration was easy, and it worked like a charm.

Really good for a beginner like me. I wish there was actual recoil so it would feel more real but that can’t be controlled with that cartridge. Also please let us have a free shooting option where instead of choosing a session we shoot till we stop. But overall I really like the app

This is as close as you can get to using actual ammo. It’s helped me with my aim tremendously. Just 15 minutes at a time and you’ll be hitting bullseye in no time!

I’m quite amazed how easy this was to set up and use. Still learning since I’m a senior, but a great item to use in the privacy of your home to get more familiar with your weapon and your aim. Well worth the money.

I’ve used the app with both a 9mm and .40 cal laser cartridge. My .40 cal handgun is really stiff even after at least 1000 rounds down range. I’ve used the Strikeman app to continue breaking it in when I don’t have time to go to the range, especially since .40 cal ammo is so expensive right now. Set up each time
I go to shoot is pretty easy, and it recognizes the target both when the phone is directly in line and when it’s at a slight angle. It is annoying to have to rack the slide back each time I shoot, but I keep telling myself that it’s not only continuing to break it in but that it’s also great to practice muscle memory when my hands reset so that I’m continually resetting it at the right angle. It seems that the app hits to the right of where I’m aiming, but I also may need to adjust my sights, and I haven’t done enough comparison to the range at the same distances to determine which is the issue. 

Regardless, I’m glad I finally pulled the trigger on the purchase so I can practice more often.

This is great concept and excellent tool to improve basic fundamentals of marksmanship while saving money on ammunition. Can also drill with it which immensely important for practical application and use. Builds confidence and competence!
