Now that I know what I need and how to get it I can keep the videos flowing. These guys pay through PayPal so that’s easy enough. I live in a pretty active city but don’t get many requests. Though I am creative enough to go out and find stories. This app is definitely amazing for those who are willing to put in the work. When you open app there is a feel already like it is not finished and something is missing. Avoid if you think you can actually make money and they will pay you. Not true. Platform operates on the way will pay out all expenses upfront to do a gig - meaning going on location uploading video, using your data plan, equipment and time. AND NOT GET PAID! Yes you can record video on the phone. If you have nothing to do and waste your time not get compensated this is app for you. Compensation is steep and is average same. It shows upfront, does not say you. ay not get paid, but there Is a button misleading you when you click because it says ACCEPT. You accept the gig, and your expenses out pf your pocket started. Stringer sit and wait you upload your footage. Not sure if they are selling this to stations or actually someone ordering this. Strange thing is if someone ordering gig it should be obligated to buy if everything is ok with footage technically, right? - wrong, you can still not get paid. Task is to do local news such as record location - shooting in the city or house on fire or water brake etc I got notification at 3AM? - you may think ok I will get my earnings, nope, so essentially if Stringer cannot sell material both of you Stringer and creator does not get paid. You get $40 for the gig on average and who knows how much is Stringer selling this for. I thought is news outlet doing this platform and myself working in industry for life price is ok. I did not expect this scam and rip off nonsense. i have 30+ years of professional experience in numerous fields and owning production companies so my work not just having price but i have people trust in my work that being said i know i can deliver footage. I did two gigs on Stringer platform - did not get paid for one. Never got reason so i send feedback as this was the only way to see if this platform has folks behind working. There were classic excuses replied but notably they said footage is excellent. wow so why I wasn’t paid? - no clue. rep told me they will ask buyer to pay me as curtesy for my first upload!? - I don’t need that, just fair and square doing business. on the other hand it just proofing my points and suspicions. Now, truth to be told ‘buyer’ who order gig did not purchase my footage for unknown reason. But i was told that buyer is allowed to do that!? - really. what about creator? Stringer is not listed as stock gallery platform! - where you ate waiting on buyer to come by. gigs are ordered, priced, instructed and have limited delivery time! So you can go 20miles to record footage of shooting in the Bronx multiple shooting for example. Maybe got involved / shot who knows and then after you upload footage so called ‘buyer’ can decide not to purchase from you. There is no guarantee you will get paid for your life threatening expense. or you can go at 3AM to do shooting upload footage and not get paid. really? Another thing is there is so called advanced profile section. Stringr want you to in detail outline equipment. This being said they actually want to attract Pro creators. Stringr is misleading when selling gigs to the public / creators whereby creators may think - I know I can deliver good material why not try I will bet paid. There will be no reason my work will not be accepted, right? - WRONG! There is no explanation / reason why you will not get paid. Again being told by Stringr my footage is excellent!? I wasted 4-5h for these gigs which essentially for this type of work cost $200 minimum, I will not include market value for raw footage on call. Doesn’t matter what you use to record footage hiring party is paying you for the gig and it is obligated to compensated you. Stringer DID NOT STATE ON PAGE WHERE GIG IS POSTED, THAT THIS GIG MAY NOT BE PAID AND IT IS SUBJECT OF DECISION AFTER UPLOAD FOOTAGE! Time is money. So Stringer misleading with advertisements they are posting without word saying about it is optional for your work to be compensated. Don’t forget they are paying fraction of the market value for the job. For example Stringr paying $40 for the job valued $400+. You have to be naive because you been cheated upfront with misleading representation for gig. In my case Stringr refused to pay me $40 + $45 for two gigs i uploaded with no explanations. One was RAW footage and next one Apple ProRes. Apple please remove Stringr from iTunes until they change the way they operates. Myself gave a chance to Stringr just like some other professionals thinking they cannot be as bad. WRONG! - Stringr is as bad as Apple let them be - Stringr outright cheat people! You decide what kind of company or platform Stringr is. I met folks who operates like this a lot - this is why I went only to try this platform at first. They never pay for your work! Stringr - Shame on you! ### 1/5 — Pay is grossly absurd *2024-11-27, version 2.15.4* No one should be contributing to an app that thinks this job should receive less than minimum wage. I sell video directly to news orgs and would never take less than 150 a clip- and several thousand for something exclusive and newsworthy. ### 1/5 — Severely underpaid *2024-09-16, version 2.15.4* This app is legit and it’s a great concept. I’ve done several projects for them and got paid the proposed rate. That said, the pay is horrendous. Most request go for $35-50. I only get ~1-5 requests per week. After taxes and travel costs a lot of the work is paid well under minimum wage. I write this review with hopes that stringr will increase pay for freelancers so this can be a legitimate way to at least make side money. In its current state and as it’s been for the four years I’ve had it, the pay is not worth it. I’ve deleted my account and app but hope to hear good things about stringr or similar services in the future. ### 1/5 — Scammers *2024-07-25, version 2.15.2* Stay far away from these scammers. ### 1/5 — Do Better Stringr! *2024-06-15, version 2.15.2* If you don’t mind wasting gas and time this app is for you! So here’s how it works, you get a request however there is no guarantee of a download! The clients here in Denver send out plenty of requests, but they will hardly ever download a video! They either change there minds or just for whatever reason decide they don’t want the video footage anymore! Personally for every request I do I’m lucky to get 1 download out of 10 request! To add pain to injury Stringr use to pay you the next day, but now your on a spot list whatever that means, you could be number 100 which means it may take a few days for you to get paid! Here’s my advice if you want to do this, only do guarantees, a guarantee is when they ask you to go and say they will download the video no matter what and you will get paid! It would be nice if Stringr would consider us videographers, and make it more profitable for us, like if you go to a request and actually film some great footage and client decides they don’t want it, Stringr will at least pay you something for your gas and time! Charlie Oviedo ### 1/5 — Suspicious app Fake reviews *2024-04-30, version 2.15.2* I quickly submitted the footage for an assignment since it happened near me. Heard nothing back. There is no option to enter your personal payment info. No way to see what they did with your footage. It doesn’t look professional and the app bothers me multiple times a day to allow it to track me constantly. There is no way to turn this alert off. The app looks like it was built in the 90s and there is no way to reach anyone. New reviews are fake. Look at older reviews. ### 1/5 — Zero customer support *2024-02-28, version 2.15.2* App is very finicky, it often says the upload was completed but then won’t ever actually upload the video. I have given up on uploads after retrying half a dozen times.
