## What is StringSense?

Dead strings cost you power, spin, and control — but most players have no idea when it's time to restring. StringSense tells you exactly when your strings are due, so you always play with confidence.

What Makes StringSense Different

Unlike simple timers or tone-based tools, StringSense uses a science-based string health model. It factors in your string type, playing time, court surface, temperature, intensity, and player level to calculate a real-time health score for every racquet you own.

Your strings don't just age — they wear differently depending on how and where you play. StringSense understands that.

True Hybrid Support

Play with a hybrid setup? StringSense tracks your mains and crosses string types separately. The algorithm calculates wear based on the actual materials — so a poly/gut hybrid gets a different health score than a poly/multi hybrid. No more averaged guesswork.

How It Works

1. Add your racquet and log your string job with string type and tension.
2. Record your play sessions — duration, surface, intensity, and conditions.
3. Watch your string health score update automatically after every session.
4. Get a clear signal when it's time for fresh strings.

Smart Check

After each session, StringSense asks how your strings felt: crisp, normal, or mushy. Over time, this teaches the app your personal preferences — so recommendations become even more accurate.

Your Dashboard at a Glance

See all your racquets in one place with live health indicators. Track your total play hours, average string health, and tension history with detailed graphs. Swipe through your racquets, tap for details, and stay on top of your equipment.

Works Offline

No Wi-Fi at the club? No problem. StringSense stores everything locally and syncs automatically when you're back online. Your data is always available, on or off the court.

StringSense Pro

The free version gives you full access for one racquet. When you're ready for more:

 • Unlimited racquets
 • Detailed tension graphs
 • CSV data export
 • Support ongoing development

Privacy First

Your data belongs to you. StringSense uses no tracking, no analytics, and no ads. Your racquet and session data is stored securely in your personal account and never shared.

Whether you're a club player who strings every few months, a tournament competitor who restrings weekly, or a weekend warrior who just wants to know when it's time — StringSense keeps your equipment in peak condition.

Download StringSense and never play on dead strings again.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 3.7.0 — 2026-08-22

StringSense 3.7.0 — "Your racquet is in there"

Two things that make day-to-day use noticeably quicker.

A much bigger catalog. The racquet catalog grew from 84 to 188 models and the string list from 112 to 157 — a market refresh as of July 2026. Pick your model and pattern, head size and weight fill themselves in: exactly the values that feed the wear calculation. And when you log a string job, the app suggests strings from the expanded list instead of making you type.

Your data, machine-readable (Pro). Alongside the CSV export there's now JSON: racquets, string jobs and sessions in one structured file laid out exactly like the database behind it — with a format marker and version number so it can be read back reliably later. For anyone who wants to process their data rather than just look at it. CSV stays for spreadsheets.

### 3.6.0 — 2026-07-24

StringSense 3.6 — know your string.

What's new:

• String type hub — five guides (polyester, multifilament, synthetic gut, natural gut, hybrid) with the app's real model values: base hours, settling, cold factor.
• Glossary — from string pattern to settling, cross-linked from the guides.
• Free and fully localized (EN/DE) — find it in the Workshop under "Knowledge base & glossary".
• Under the hood: more reliable update announcements and smaller launch fixes.

### 3.5.0 — 2026-07-12

StringSense 3.5 — the app now explains why.

What's new:

• "Why?" explanations — tap "Why?" on the wear factors to learn how surface, intensity, cold and tension age your string.
• Password reset from your mail app now reliably opens the app.
• More security and stability around export, account deletion and sync.

### 3.4.1 — 2026-06-28

What's new in 3.4.1

• More accurate health history: played time and tension loss are now attributed to the correct stringing
• More reliable sync: offline changes are saved safely and reconciled in the background
• On launch you see the real "last synced" time
• If a sync gets stuck, you can restart it with a tap

### 3.4.0 — 2026-06-27

New in 3.4: String gauge (mm)

You can now record your string gauge in millimeters – separately for mains and crosses. Completely optional and free.

Why it matters: gauge affects how long a string job stays playable. Thinner strings (e.g. 1.20 mm) give more spin and feel but wear faster; thicker ones (e.g. 1.30 mm) last longer and offer more control. StringSense now factors this in – making your restring recommendation even more precise.

How it works: when you log a string job, pick the gauge per side from the common steps (1.40–1.10 mm); 1.25 mm is the neutral reference. Set just one side and it applies to both.

Note: anything you logged before without a gauge stays exactly as it is – no effect on existing health values.

As always: science-informed, ad-free, no tracking. We'd love your feedback!
